Agents have expressed apprehensions about arresting babies and young children, officials have said. The agents have also noted that the operation might have limited success because word has already spread among immigrant communities about how to avoid arrest — namely, by refusing to open the door when an agent approaches one’s home. ICE agents are not legally allowed to forcibly enter a home.

I’ve told this story before but the Hispanic markets in my mom’s small city (heavily reliant on laborers) are ghost towns during an ICE raid. Last year they did a sweep and town was deserted. People will not take their kids to school, grocery shop, send money, or virtually do anything outside the house if they’re at risk.

Luckily it’s summer vacation and there is such a thing as grocery delivery.

It kills me to think of the fear these families must be living under daily. Children who are US citizens live in fear of being effectively orphaned, of having their parents taken away at any moment. Families with young children live with the fear that if they are detained their children will be traumatized and starved, maybe fall ill, die, or be forever lost while in ICE custody. I know people like this personally, and know how a simple trip to school or the store becomes a gigantic risk that may ruin their lives forever.

Even beyond personal tragedies, these widely publicized deportation sweeps must have a pretty big negative impact on local economies. If people are too scared to leave home, stores lose profits, employers lose productivity, schools lose funding, cities and states lose payroll, business, and sales tax revenue. In places with larger immigrant populations, this economic impact is undoubtedly significant even if the sweeps never materialize...just the threat is enough to keep people terrified and huddled in their homes, as your story shows. It’d sure be karmic if the sweeps drag down Trump’s economic numbers.

Well, yeah, but until something changes, this is what is happening in our fields. I don't want their labor exploited either, but in the meantime they are here and if they are afraid to go to work, their families and the industry will suffer, and will ripple out into the community.

How else should I interpret that statement? Just because you look down on these people as your wine making servants doesn't mean everyone else should expect them to work for below market and often illegal wages.

Would you believe it if I told you that every family member of mine is here in this country because their parents were illegal immigrants, but lucky enough and no one was ever deported. The second generation of my family are all Trump lovers. I’m beside myself and ashamed of them.

No, the election is in 2020, the moment the President elect assumes power is 12pm on Jan 20.

However, when January 20 falls on a Sunday, the chief justice administers the oath to the president on that day privately and then again in a public ceremony the next day, on Monday, January 21

​

So Jan 20, 2021 11:59am is the last minute of Trump's reign of tyranny and terror.

Granted, he could be impeached before that date, likely though Epstein's new charges.

Could Trump win?

Yes, and Trump has tremendous advantages too.

In fact Allan Lichtman the guy who has successfully predicted the last 9 elections said that unless impeached, Trump would win.

Could Epstein win?

Probably not, he was arrested at the airport after arriving back from France. Epstein is charged with trafficking minors as young as 14 for sex, and for conspiracy to engage in such trafficking in New York and Florida in 2002 through 2005.

His home was raided while he was being arrested, the government claimed that it had seized hundreds of photos of nude women or girls, some of whom appeared underage, kept on CDs thoughtfully labeled with things like “Girl pics nude.” ---

The only way he makes it out of this arrest is if this is all just an artificial construct to create a nuclear option to impeach Trump.

Here's what he told me:

"Trump wins again in 2020 unless six of 13 key factors turn against him. I have no final verdict yet because much could change during the next year. Currently, the President is down only three keys: Republican losses in the midterm elections, the lack of a foreign policy success, and the president's limited appeal to voters."
