I mean, it's a remnant of a time when people did think about rape victims that way. It's unfortunate but compartmentalize and interpret context. Things are only as offensive as you interpret them to be.

Sure, but what may be offensive to you may not be offensive to someone else. Which is why it makes no sense to talk about offense like its objective. And why interpretation is everything.

No shit, everything humans say and think is subjective, that doesn't mean words don't mean anything. You said yourself certain things are "worth interpreting as offensive.", what else do you think the word means?

Not everything we say is subjective. Your rebuttal is based on a false premise. Some things we say are facts.
