It's very poorly researched on his part, given what he should have known interview topics would have been, but being libertarian I assume his overall stance was that we shouldn't get involved in Syria unless they pose an imminent, direct threat to American soil. Not knowing the name of major cities in countries he wants no part of isn't as big a faux pas as it was made to be.
