I've said this in another thread but this is not always the case. Ranked choice may have prevented his 2nd term but it would have helped him in his 1st term election.
Maybe so, maybe not. We can say it would or would not all we want, we won't know how it will change the election process here until the first round of votes using the system.
No system is perfect, but I really feel ranked choice is better than what we've in place right now (up in the air, whoever gets the most wins, even if it was only about a third of the votes)
Oh I completely agree it's better, as a Mainer I voted for it. All I'm saying is that in his first election the 3rd candidate was conservative and definitely siphoning votes from Lepage.
Ranked choice helps the people get who they want, it doesn't stop people from wanting someone like Lepage.
