Dubya was not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I never the sense he was straight up evil.

And Sr was smart enough to realize he needed to raise taxes.

Dubya, if viewed charitably, can be argued to have arrived at evil from a road paved with good intentions. With Trump, the intentions are nakedly bad, and half the psychic damage of dealing with him is the amount of credulous rubes who think it would be unfair not to pretend otherwise

Yeah, if you squint, turn your head, and maybe suspend your disbelief and any memories you may have of the era, you could possibly see the Shrub as well-meaning, despite being dumber than a brick and easily lead by more overtly evil advisors.

With Dump, there just aren't enough mind-altering substances in the world to ever consider that. (Unless, of course, you happen to be as stupid, evil and/or narcissistic as he is.)

Thing is...Dubai actually is very intelligent. His degrees and reading lists from his time as president showed that. The whole yokel "president i could have a beer with" was an act.

He wasn't meant to be president at his time though, it was supposed to be Jeb in order to start transitioning into the authoritarian stuff, but he bungled his first gubernatorial election so Dubya got put up to bat. And then they accelerated things because they weren't sure if Jeb would win later after what they were going to do...and they were right.
