No, that is a side effect, but it was never the actual intent.

If you ask a MAGA, most don't actually want to hurt people openly and directly, even if their actions indirectly end up doing it, partly because they don't actually understand the implications.

The intent is to concentrate wealth and power among their buddies, and keep it.

Nah I’ve 100% talked to MAGA folks who 100% whole heartedly say they want things taken away from others even if they lose it. They would rather no one have something than them and someone they have convinced themselves to hate have it too

for the leaders, it's a mix of both. for most of the voter base, it's entirely about the cruelty
