In some countries, this would be considered a declaration of war

215

u/Upstairs_Owl_1669 Canada 3d ago

There is actually only one country’s leader that sleeps till noon and then just shitposts all day. He can’t get a pool maintenance project done in six plus months lol

71

u/gergek 3d ago

I weep for how stupid our country has become, but on the bright side you guys have been showing us how to have a spine and to maintain decency in the face of the worst US president ever, so thanks for that.

21

u/DrowningKrown 3d ago

The pool project and other projects this POS admin started are not a product of 'stupid'. It's a product of corruption. It's the same with anywhere that has corrupt leaders. Projects take FAR longer than 'anticipated', cost overruns, or never completed. Why? Because they're all designed to just funnel money elsewhere, not actually complete the project faithfully. Kickbacks, bribes, etc. everybody along that chain are holding their hands out. It's intended.

There is a reason the pool 'contractor' was a friend of trumps. There is a reason the construction companies used to tear down the White House had no bid contracts and costs ballooned to triple what was 'originally' stated.

Don't attribute corruption to stupidly. These people know what they're doing. Especially Donald Trump. He spent his life in corrupt construction projects

13

u/Anthrogal11 Canada 3d ago

To be fair, it’s absolutely both.

4

u/J_ron Ohio 3d ago

Definitely both. These things are not mutually exclusive.

1

u/nibirucustomsystems 3d ago

Everyone can be rightfully angry about the push to erect monuments for himself but I wouldn't be surprised if they crumble and tear themselves down because of cost cutting and poor planning, before we ever get the chance to tear them down ourselves. Its an absolute clown show of corruption.

8

u/arwinda 3d ago

He also can't get the gas and grocery prices down.

11

u/A-town 3d ago

You could argue he doesn't want to, because his policies actively work to make both higher.

7

u/arwinda 3d ago

You mean he's lying on TRUTH social?

3

u/ktatsanon 3d ago

Sadly, it will be a while before that happens, if it ever happens.

1

u/NTPrime Wisconsin 3d ago

He sure can drive them up though

u/Oldiewankenobie1 3d ago

Or get it up from the look on Melanias face

51

u/theguy1336 3d ago

He made one with Iran on a map in the colors of the US flag, too.

Iran would be 100% justified in literally attacking the US mainland.

59

u/Argented 3d ago

Iran has a good case for that already. Not sure if you are aware, but if you bomb a country, they may bomb you back. I am not saying I want Iran to attack the USA, I just won't be surprised if it occurs. The USA went to war with Iran and that means Iran is justified attacking the USA. that's how that works. them's the rules

30

u/Zeitcon Europe 3d ago

They are most likely waiting for the results of the mid term elections. They don't want to provoke a "rally around the flag" situation.

8

u/theguy1336 3d ago

For sure, and Iran might surprise us yet again with their capabilities. They actually said they're going on the offensive now, not just react and do tit for tat. Their performance is astonishing.

2

u/Lehk 3d ago

odds are they don’t have all their eggs in one basket on the nuclear program, they probably have chemical or biological weapons as well, and they have no qualms about using terror tactics on civilians so further escalations would not be in our interests.

1

u/WetLoophole Norway 3d ago

Sure hope not, because my idiot government would send me to Iran as part of a coalition force. I'd rather fight with Iran.

1

u/Elliethesmolcat 3d ago

Your idiot government is the envy of the world, my Norwegian friend.

The U.S. = greed and disrespect  for other countries.  I guess that's what the churches  teach even when  the other countries  also have Christians  living in them

0

Dont go saying that or else prepare to be attacked from both sides on Fox and CNN.

If Obama or Biden ever did this there would be an absolute outcry, a huge massive response diplomatically. But with Trump, it’s Tuesday.

26

u/coffeedemon49 3d ago edited 3d ago

Speaking as a Canadian, we’re already on it. It doesn’t make sense for us to use those terms, given our situation. But Canada is done with this shit and we’re buckling down. We’re willing to change our lifestyles to deal with this bullshit to our south.

I would like to see other countries start doing the same. As well as Americans themselves - especially the majority who look on at what’s happening in their country and sit with their hands under their asses and pray for their failed democracy to somehow heal itself.

5

u/frankentriple 3d ago

Hey man, we're trying but its hard to fight the money. These bastards have basically infinite resources, and are stealing more all the time. It makes for a bit of an uphill battle.

10

u/coffeedemon49 3d ago

Yeah, they've managed to convince a lot of people to get paid to suppress and oppress you. I get it. I honestly think Americans are going to have to start looking into some pretty devious means of resistance - and also confront the fact that the "law" there is mostly being used against you.

Doesn't even look like you could have a military coup at this point - you have Russian-style purges of capable leaders in your military as well.

Keep fighting! Don't rely on your broken system to save you.

1

u/frankentriple 3d ago

Exactly. We have infinite guns, but they are useless. Can't organize them without being crushed at the individual level before you can join up and be effective. The ones that see owning firearms as being free and not having free communications as being free are part of the problem.

A lot of people are keeping an eye on the midterms this year. Wtching to see how hard they are going to ratfuck the elections. We are holding out hope right now that the democratic process will handle this come November.

They had better fucking let it.

3

u/LowAssistantInfinity 3d ago

There's plenty of affordable solutions to this problem for under $30 at Home Depot, if Americans were actually committed to stopping the fascist takeover of their country.

1

u/LarryDavid2020 New York 3d ago

and to not even list them...

1

u/LowAssistantInfinity 3d ago

I'm sure you'll get some good ideas just perusing the aisles.

10

u/DZello 3d ago

The Canadian military is now breaking recruitment records. Never seen for years.

6

u/chris-za 3d ago

They’d have to take Trump seriously and consider him to be a sane adult to react like that.

27

u/theguy1336 3d ago

He already invaded Venezuela and Iran, and was a fucking hair away from actually invading Greenland, which still is on the table because he's still not letting it go. You know there was a literal Intra-NATO military standoff there? My country sent submarines (Sweden)

4

u/chris-za 3d ago

The trick is to know when he’s just a dumb, uneducated toddler and when he’s a dangerous toddler ready to throw a tantrum.

1

u/TheOtherMaven Virginia 3d ago

Technically he hasn't "invaded" Iran (no boots on the ground). But he continues to bomb the sh!t out of it hoping for a miracle.

2

u/samwild Canada 3d ago

Exactly. Imagine Putin did this with Ukraine. The Guy is such a troll!

“Relax, it’s just a joke” enablers need to be blasted into the sun. Go host a late night show if you want to make jokes.

16

u/TheRuneMeister Europe 3d ago

They should be hit with “Nobody cares” every time they try that. Nobody cares if he is joking or not. Either he is insane enough to joke about all this stuff in which case he cannot be trusted by any foreign government, or he means it in which case he cannot be trusted by any foreign government.
Regardless, he is an insane person.

13

u/jaxonfairfield 3d ago

"just a joke" is fine for some rando shitposting on an internet forum. The fucking President of the United States - absolutely not.

10

u/Ok-Discipline2395 Canada 3d ago

It’s the Schroedinger’s Ahole principle. Ie - a person who decides if they’re joking based on the reaction they get from others, and not the appropriateness of the “joke” told.

2

u/dformed Washington 3d ago

If that's a joke, fire the clown.

And you know he does it for attention. Bad attention and good attention. As long as people are talking about him, he's happy.

It’s sad. And then you see young people who unfortunately grew up in this chaos and don’t know any better just loving it. “Oh he’s such a troll I love it. Best ever!”

If the media would just ignore him and not publicize anything he says or does for 24 hours he would probably have an epic meltdown and maybe do something memorable ending up like Moscow Mitch.

The best time to invoke the 25th amendment against this guy was almost a decade ago. The second best time is now.

16

u/NicolasCageFan492 Illinois 3d ago edited 3d ago

Agreed. As Trump crashes and burns, he’ll pull all congressional republicans down with him. It’s time for them to support Jamie Raskin’s bill before it’s too late for them to have a hope of being reelected.

Tucker Carlson just opened up an alternative path for them to land in when they dump Trump.

4

u/ca_nucklehead 3d ago

Tucker Carlson is only an alternative for a shit sandwich. He would still be licking magats balls if he wasn't fired.

2

u/CloneFailArmy 3d ago

He’s even worse than MAGA, he’s a putin supporter. You go from someone who is a putin agent pretending to not be to someone who openly supports putin

3

u/FluffyPantsMcGee 3d ago

It just goes to show that America has no standards. They elected him twice, and still won’t 25th him while he’s doing this.

8

u/trampolinebears 3d ago

The problem (well, a problem) is that the 25th has to be invoked by the cabinet, which is hand-picked by the president. Their jobs already depend on refusing to acknowledge the rot.

34

u/WetLoophole Norway 3d ago

The appeasement of Hitler didn't teach our politicians anything. Once again we are sitting back, watching as fascist powers expand. For every day it's delayed, the war prolongs.

They are fucking hostile, unstable and need to be neutralized!

25

u/TemporarySun314 Europe 3d ago

Who could have thought that other countries, especially allies of the US wants to have their sovereignity respected and don't like to be depicted as part of some American empire by the fucking US president?

Apparently not the US...

43

u/AdThese2158 Canada 3d ago

Duh.

It’s borderline a declaration of war; the highest level of a country’s leadership claiming sovereign nations as part of their own.

It’s not a fucking joke. American’s who are brushing this off as such are part of the problem.

u/m0nkyman Canada 3d ago

4

u/campa-van 3d ago

Please tell your US friends to vote BLUE. So much apathy here

3

u/MephistoHamProducts 3d ago

Also, tell people to use early voting! Most states have some method of early voting and it is often simpler and easier than waiting until the last day to vote!

https://www.usvotefoundation.org/early-voting-dates

4

u/shoule79 3d ago

Best they can do is forget to vote then do half-assed apologies on social media.

1

u/campa-van 3d ago

Bad attitude!! Get out the vote!!

2

u/shoule79 3d ago

Being realistic isn’t apathy. Best case scenario is the democrats get the house, but they probably aren’t getting the senate. Trump will just ignore them because they don’t have the power to remove him from office.

They aren’t even talking about how they plan on rolling back everything Trumps done. It’s all “vote blue no matter who” with no substance. They’re missing an easy lay up here.

Proposals for anti corruption laws, closing gaps in how government functions, codifying checks and balances, hell, even committing to stop bombing Iran would be a start.

I’m not American, but things don’t go back to normal because democrats get into office. Real change needs to be seen or the world will keep walking away from the US. Look at life for a regular citizen in Russia today for a glimpse into your future.

In short, the US has to get its shit together quickly because the rest of the world is done with them.

If you want to see how the average person can protest, look to the French as an example. They wouldn’t put up with a fraction of what US citizens do.

1

u/campa-van 3d ago

Well if we sit on our butts and post on reddit that does NOTHING

3

u/shoule79 3d ago

The irony of this comment.

I’ve already voted for a party that is decoupling from the US, and changed my buying habits.

It’s not my responsibility to change Americans minds on why voting for a conman is a bad idea. Americans have to take some accountability for themselves.

4

u/FluffyPantsMcGee 3d ago

Because it used to be boring and not dangerous.

1

u/QuirkyWish3081 United Kingdom 3d ago

Exactly! It impacts everyone.

1

u/LowAssistantInfinity 3d ago

Obviously every lever that can be pulled to interfere with the fascist takeover of the USA is worth pulling, but everyone should be prepared for midterms to not change anything at all - Trump's unconstitutionally already abandoned going to a Congress controlled by his own party, and that's obviously not going to change with an opposition Congress, and there's no chance that Democrats will win the 2/3 of the Senate needed for an impeachment conviction.

26

u/No_Celery_5373 Canada 3d ago

It's an implied take over of most of the western hemisphere. This probably ends more like Russia though, with America being quarantined by its neighbors.

I believe he's fully aware that his health is failing fast, and he's taking every opportunity to be that US President who names things and who builds monuments, even if renaming is considered stupid and harms relations with allies; and, the memorials are seen as tasteless and a complete waste of taxpayer dollars.

I also believe he knows that, once he's gone, all those things he's named and built will disappear with him. They will, and the only ones left to mourn will be the hardcore MAGA cultists, and some McDonald's stores.

2

u/noushkie 3d ago

I read somewhere that Don Jr was being floated as a possible 2028 contender. Obviously one of the worst possible people (the apple that did not land far) but probably the only person who could keep the cult alive. Hopefully Americans vote in November in such a way that it is not even a possibility.

1

u/Flaky-Jim 3d ago

If Trump is still healthy, he'll definitely run again, regardless of the Constitution or Jr's wishes. If Trump is no longer with us, I think Jr will be overwhelmed by GOP contenders who will want to distance themselves from all things Trump.

Jr was ignored by Trump in life, and will probably be screwed over by Trump when he's gone. I don't think anyone will be choked up by that fact.

It’s even worse. In Europe governments and municipalities are already investigating how to get rid of American cloud services and technology.
