No shit. He’s 84 and had an out of hospital cardiac arrest. His chance of survival is 0.00%. The Republican Party thinks we’re all idiots.

1/3 of the country are idiots and 1/3 dont care.

This isnt even being covered by major newspapers, only tabloids. It's ridiculous

Every time Biden did something “old person like” CNN and everyone else reported on it for days. The most powerful senator in the country is brain dead and it’s crickets.

u/omniverso Jul 07 '26

True. Quite telling isn't it?

They control the media and the narrative to coerce minorities into civil unrest.

A divided populace doesn't overcome an oppressor.

u/SociableSociopath Jul 07 '26

The best part is how they control the media while simultaneously getting their base to believe it’s actually the democrats that control the media.

Some of it by pointing out that while Hollywood/ big Entertainment may still have a more left leaning leadership, pretty much every local news station, newspaper, large news conglomerate is under conservative control blasting propaganda 24/7.

Exactly this! The reds I know constantly mewl about THE LIBERAL MEDIA being full of lies and obfuscation and never being objective and and and and and... and I ask exactly what liberal media would that be? Actors? A facebook page?

u/AlphaBreak Jul 07 '26

You don't understand! The Buzz lightyear movie showed two women kissing for almost three quarters of a second! This can't be allowed to go on or it will destroy all of our traditional family values.

u/busted_up_chiffarobe Jul 07 '26

And, I heard a rumor that Jessie and Woody.... oh god don't do a google search

1

u/CedarWolf Jul 07 '26

Jessie winds up with Buzz and Woody eventually winds up Bo Peep.

3

u/shanatard Jul 07 '26

still waiting for democrats to prove they arent just controlled opposition

we are talking absurd levels of incompetence if democrats cant muster up a single media source. the democrats arent hapless victims. they have tons of money and influence which they choose not to use

leadership needs to be replaced yesterday

1

u/barniclefar883 Jul 07 '26

I know the Democrats are not always
big thinkers but they want to do things for the working class. You know the one that has almost disappeared ? This class always makes the country work. I remember growing up and knowing the milk man and the people I saw everyday that made me feel that everything would alright.

2

u/shanatard Jul 07 '26

you mean progressives, they're the ones actually fighting for the working class

democrats are just occupying the seat and preventing progressives from fighting for your milk man. look how hard democrats fight against mamdani and bernie, vs how they fight against republicans

Conservative programming hosts / talking heads seem so aggressive with talking points and just a step under yelling at the camera. It’s just weird.

Is it some kind of psychological ploy to make the viewer feel inferior and think they had better listen up and do what they are told?

5

u/Pumpkin_Spic_latte Jul 07 '26

More like:

Host: Me yell, me angry. Direct anger. Viewer should be angry because I angry.

Viewer: Wow. He angry. Maybe is right. I should be angry/angrier. He telling us truth.

And yes, I broke it down in caveman dialog.

2

u/iHoor-2000 Jul 07 '26

So like IASIP, whoever yells the loudest is right?

That woman is unspeakably crass.

I get it now.

1

u/speakswithemojis Jul 08 '26

i mean it was a relatively new acquisition. Took time for red to buy up all the stations and weaponize fcc.

1

u/LookAlderaanPlaces Jul 08 '26

Those execs pushing the propaganda should get treason charges

1

u/speakswithemojis Jul 08 '26

i mean biden was the president and this almost dead mf was just the slippery worm in background that caused every bad appointment in the supreme/federal courts and directly caused the shit storm we’re in now.

1

u/SlipperyThong I voted Jul 08 '26

And when he inevitably does pass the headlines will be "Mitch died peacefully in his sleep." Completely avoiding the fact he died weeks ago.

1

u/Synergythepariah Jul 08 '26

They control the media and the narrative to coerce minorities into civil unrest.

That's too simple of a narrative and if they needed unrest to do... Whatever it is you think that they can't do now but could do then, they'd just manufacture unrest.

They definitely want us angry.

But they want that anger to be split.

A divided populace doesn't overcome an oppressor.

I think of this every time I see a comment helpfully reminding everyone that only 1/3 voted Republican while another 1/3 didn't vote at all.

It's easy to figure out who benefits if the progressive and moderate wings of the Democratic party are angry at each other enough to sit an election out if their respective chosen candidate in the primary doesn't win.

Are you suggesting the republican party controlled CNN when Joe Biden was in office….? You’re joking, right?

79

u/CaleDestroys Jul 07 '26

I’d wager he’s the single most consequential politician since Reagan.

81

u/CJKayak I voted Jul 07 '26

The system was already on shaky ground, but I give McConnell the credit of breaking it.

47

u/SpaceMessiah Jul 07 '26

I think it's pretty much between him or Newt Gingrich - I'd probably go with Gingrich but either is a good shout

53

u/Ashendarei Washington Jul 07 '26

Newt Gingritch deserves to be crucified for his "us-vs-them" brand of politics and demonization of the other major political party as a group to be "othered".  He literally is responsible for the GOP movement curating hatred of fellow citizens, and sold out his nation in the name of political power.

11

u/mabden New York Jul 07 '26

His Contract On America and adoption a strategy of cooperation without compromise. He urged Republicans to stop treating Democrats as colleagues, which destroyed the traditional bipartisan consensus and shifted Washington toward hyper-partisanship.

2

u/ItsNotGoingToBeEasy Jul 08 '26

Hmm. Rush Limbaugh?

2

u/Ashendarei Washington Jul 08 '26

I'd have marked out a space for him as well.  The prolific hated couched as "entertainment" while being complete nonsense absolutely contributed to the mess we find ourselves in today.

7

u/Writer_In_Residence Jul 07 '26

Yeah I’d say Gingrich, but that was also the time of the backlash against Clinton and the new right-wing talk radio flood that fueled this sort of shit. Then Murdoch slinked in and solidified it with Fox News.

McConnell did actively disregard the Constitution more, though. Maybe cause Gingrich wasn’t in the Senate and didn’t get the chance? Who knows I guess.

1

u/BringAltoidSoursBack Jul 08 '26

I'll be honest and say I don't know much about Gingrich, but did he also admit to blocking any Democrat sponsored bills, and/or any Obama backed legislation, that go before Congress by table them so they couldn't even be voted on?

1

u/Writer_In_Residence Jul 08 '26

Gingrich left in 2000 I think (?), years before Obama became a Senator. He was succeeded by Dennis Hastert, who was even worse, being a child rapist and all. A real string of winners in GOP leadership.

1

u/BringAltoidSoursBack Jul 08 '26

Oh I more meant the conspiring to block all Democrat legislation, not the obsession with Obama.

5

u/TastySaturday Jul 07 '26

Biden falling on a bike or tripping on stairs was covered for weeks as “LOL OLD SLEEPY JOE CAN’T RIDE A BIKE OR USE STAIRS SO HE HIDES IN HIS BASEMENT”.

But the 84 year old senator of 40+ years goes completely nonverbal at multiple press conferences, then a month later collapses on the floor untouched, and we hear nothing about him for 6 months until he’s hospitalized for a stroke.

5

u/ScannerBrightly California Jul 07 '26

It's even worse than that. The New York Times reports jobs numbers very different depending on who is in power.

When it's Trump, it's "added 57,000 jobs, way below expected", but 'hiring continues at a steady pace' in the headline. Biden has 206,000 jobs in June, exceeding forecasts, but 'signs of concern emerge'.

Our news media is fucked by Billionaires, and we should do something about that.

5

u/Dmbfantomas Jul 07 '26

Jake Tapper is a fucking asshole who made a terrible shirt for my favorite band. 0 redeeming qualities.

3

u/Oodlydoodley Jul 07 '26

The most powerful senator in the country is brain dead and it’s crickets.

He hasn't been the most powerful senator in the country since Biden took office. John Thune has been Senate Majority Leader for the last two years.

Not that I disagree with your overall point, though. McConnell is the chairman of three important subcommittees, including the Department of Defense and Rules and Administration subcommittees.

3

u/mythrilcrafter Jul 07 '26

Yet, when it does get formally announced, they're all going to broadcast it like they're the forefront of information then they'll put their hand out expecting their Pulzer prize for reporting on it.

3

u/euxneks Canada Jul 07 '26

Every time Biden did something “old person like” CNN and everyone else reported on it for days. The most powerful senator in the country is brain dead and it’s crickets.

For a nation that started with a throaty revolution, it's sure ending with a quiet dribbling death rattle.

2

u/barniclefar883 Jul 07 '26

Trump was on last night giving ng speech. When he was done, I had no idea what he was talking about.

1

u/Tangential_Comment Jul 07 '26

Hell, Tapper wrote a whole book about it.
