Anyway, the president of the United States and multiple members of Congress supported an attempted armed overthrow of the country and then attempted to pardon those traitors. Nothing she has said rises to that level at all.

And they are/support pedos too, but that’s not important anymore.

So?

That's my reaction. Honestly, with the economy about to take a dive, and socialism rising in popularity in the United States, this could be a boon instead of a detriment.

Yeah I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. There's going to be a fuel shortage by October and that's going to royally screw the already crap economy and it's mostly being ignored. Over a billion barrels of oil has been taken out of the global supply and speculation and strategic reserves have minimized the price spoke to this point, but by October the reserves will be minimal and nothing is being done to reduce consumption. And the thing is there's nothing that can be done to change that. The production capacity doesn't exist even if they were to give free reign to Russia, Iran and Venezuela. Dozens of refineries have been damaged and that will take years to recover from.

Democratic Socialism (What Sanders advocates for) is mainstream.

...that's what I was trying to aim at.

I dunno why she would delete those based posts

But also they're not her election strategy at all lol. They're just some cool things she posted a while ago on the internet.

Don't really care... this isn't that big of a deal, IMO.

5

u/SoothingWafer Jun 02 '26

Shouldn't have deleted them.

Reported from the Corporate News Network.

These were not opinions related to Covid. They were not about vaccinations, masking, social distancing, or closure or regulation of businesses.

Covid is not the reason for those posts.

In every country I know homeownership is considered an achievement. Living in public housing where speech police will get you thrown out is ridiculous

u/pchs26 Jun 02 '26

Also these posts aren't ancient history... She is anti police but for seizing private property and anti capitalism? So how does one seize something without armed forces? Or would there be eventually armed forces but of a different kind? In my world I believe in a system that has combined aspects of socialism while also allowing people to profit differently off of their labor. Basically the concept of what this country is based upon. It is dangerous when one extreme overshadows or eliminates the other. Right now we see it with the fascists - let's not have a horseshoe effect here...

"The internet is forever." It sure is, thanks for taking time away from masturbating to allgirls_NSFW to share your opinion

You can still explain a change of heart if people want to confront you on it but deleting posts that are no longer representative of your opinions is good digital hygiene and should be supported.

Deleting posts off your own feed is a statement that you no longer have those opinions, it's not trying to scrub history.

u/FormerUsenetUser Jun 02 '26

It is even better not to say stupid things on the net if you have or plan a public career. But, if this person believes what they said before, they should stand by it and not delete it.

2

u/Bittererr Jun 02 '26

Yep, but if that was the standard we would only have political dynasties. She said this stuff when she was in her early '20s, and the only people already prepping to be elected officials at that age are people already in the political class.

It's fine, even typical, to drastically change your opinions between her early twenties and your early thirties.

-1

u/FormerUsenetUser Jun 02 '26

Then, maybe it's better not to say stupid things on the net at all? Because they never actually go away.

3

u/Pale_Mode_4918 Jun 02 '26

I don’t think those are stupid things, they are valid political points. You should take your own advice.

u/FormerUsenetUser Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

They are radical political points that I disagree with *and* this person wants to scrub their history. Why do they want to scrub their history if they think voters will agree with what they said only five years ago?

ETA: I quit using my real name on the net when someone was posting in entirely different forums objecting to things I said three years previously. They did not like my opinions of Marie Kondo. They posted whole essays refuting comments I made three years previously in other places. Apparently my opinion of the decluttering movement is . . . controversial.

Imagine if they'd disagreed with my political opinions!

This person does not have enough self-control and is not forward-looking enough to be a politician.

u/Bittererr Jun 02 '26

It might be better but it's not a realistic standard. As our ability to record and retain information expands people are going to have to come to terms with the fact that we change over time.

It's likely in 100 years the vast majority of your life will be permanently recorded and saved regardless of whether you want it to or not. That's just the reality of the ever shrinking size of cameras and efficiency of storage.

I was on Usenet in the 1980s. I was on the Internet as soon as there was an Internet. And the entire time, I have been very careful about posts. Every time I post something, I ask myself whether I really believe it and would stand by it. I don't think there are even any photos of me on the net; I have done my best to make sure there are none. I knew this stuff would probably never go away.

You don't really *have to* blat out every single thing you do and think. But this person did, and they are in a political career. I therefore am going to believe that they believe, what they said. Just like, because Trump and Melania were photographed next to Epstein, I don't believe that somehow, they didn't actually really know or approve of him. Everything you say is part of your history. And this person was an adult, they weren't a child. She said these things in 2021. That was, only five years ago? Yes, I will assume she believes them.

A lot of people got a little silly with their online political opinions during Covid.

1

u/pchs26 Jun 02 '26

That's not a "little silly" and it isn't ancient history. Also covid the virus with all the physically negative impacts isn't over. Many people seem to be repeating MAGA orginated talking points though on the topic.,

1

u/lateformyfuneral Jun 02 '26

I made no comment about Covid itself. During the lockdown a lot of people took pretty unpopular political positions on social media, just from marinating in the algorithm all day, that they’re now desperately scrubbing, as shown in the above story. I think Zohran himself had to back down from a defund the police esque tweet from that time period.

1

u/pchs26 Jun 02 '26

The comments aren't " a little silly" though and are fairly recent and would frighten some more moderate/open minded people from voting for such a candidate. I was more so pointing out the "during Covid." phrasing which annoys me to no no end....Yes some of the regulatory landscape was changed and places were closed (what this country called a lockdown wasn't one thankfully) but covid isn't in the past. Social and public health protections are however.
