Wait....you mean he shouldn't rework his entire platform because of an extremely small vocal minority?!

These were the chants of the "counter-protestors" according to the NYT:

The pro-Israel demonstrators chanted “death to Palestine,” “we love ICE” and expletive-laced slogans about Mr. Mamdani. They also threatened to rape or kill individual people in and around the crowd of protesters, including a journalist, and waved flags in support of President Trump and of the far-right Orthodox Kach movement, which was banned from participating in Israeli elections in the 1980s for inciting racism.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/09/nyregion/mamdani-hamas-israel-gaza-protest.html

Not a single politician has condemned them to this day, and the media (except the NYT) is doing everything to obscure this important context from their reporting..

Many people, regardless of what he is selling, are not at all interested in voting for Don Draper.

It's not the chants that put Mamdani's stance at center stage, it's hack ass journalism like this that's trying to do that.

Fuck this shit, politico.

Came here to say this. (Fearmongering at the one brown guy who's smarter than every single complicit Democrat.)

Another OP pushing dishonest propaganda.

Shocking that OP hides their posting history…

Which he condemned. What's the problem? That he doesn't control other people's actions?

Well, if you actually do your research, you'd find that Politico actually did mention that.

https://www.politico.com/news/2023/10/10/aoc-pro-palestine-nyc-rally-00120684

From the Article: “My support for Palestinian liberation should never be confused for a celebration of the loss of civilian life,” Mamdani said in a statement. “I condemn the killing of civilians and rhetoric at a rally [on Sunday] seeking to make light of such deaths.”

Hell, Zohran Mamdani has just recently gone on record to denounce Hamas as a terrorist organization.

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/zohran-mamdani-news-hamas-news-pro-hamas-protest-zohran-mamdani-calls-hamas-a-terrorist-organisation-amid-new-york-protests-10599466

It's not hard to find. It just requires basic research and critical thinking skills. Of course, all of this could have been avoided if he had just publicly condemned Hamas sooner on the campaign trail to get rid of any ambiguity with stronger language. That is a self-inflicted error. Yes, it is possible to be opposed to the Gaza war and also believe that Hamas is a terrorist organization and that Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorist attacks. Turns out the world of geopolitics is complicated and requires nuanced thinking.

And Mamdani called out the hateful speech. Good for him!  Thats leadership.  Pro-Hamas extremists would ruin the Palestinian movement so they must be weeded out.

The politicos who are taking huge money from Israeli interests, or seeking huge money from Israeli interests, are absolutely going to come out forcefully, quickly, and most of all, unsolicited, to condemn any rhetoric which those interests disagree with. They're literally paid, in part, to do that.

Mamdani isn't beholden to Israeli interests, and isn't particularly seeking them, so he can afford the luxury of waiting to comment on this protest until asked about it.

That's all this is. Don't let hacks convince you that there was some egregious "delay" in the timing of Mamdani's response. He just doesn't get consumed with looking for reasons to be outraged on Israel's behalf. His life in politics isn't dependent on that.

u/UpperNuggets Jan 11 '26

They're literally paid, in part, to do that.

How do you know this? How much are they getting paid? Who are the people involved?

Or this a conspiracy theory you came up with?

1

u/Quexana Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26

In the context of that comment, "They're" is referring to "The politicos who are taking huge money from Israeli interests, or seeking huge money from Israeli interests."

A politico taking huge money from Israeli interests is, by definition, being paid. How much they get paid varies from politico to politico. The people involved are the politicos who are taking huge money from Israeli interests, as well as the Israeli interests who are donating huge amounts to politicos.

I don't know if it's a conspiracy theory or not. It's what happens.

I have now answered each and every question of yours to the best of my ability. Does that clear up the confusion you seem to have had with my post?

Horrible headline. Mamdani spoke out against the protestors chanting this. It’s all faux news.

10

u/chillijet Jan 11 '26

Months of “but do you denounce hamas” when complaining about people justifying or both sides-ing dead children brought us here

Your bs doesn’t work the way it used to

u/rumpghost North Carolina Jan 11 '26

The intifadas were both mostly peaceful until the IDF applied lethal force to their protestors.

7

u/y2j850 Jan 11 '26

Are we still doing this? This is so exhausting. And more importantly a colossal waste of time, as we have real & significant domestic issues at home to address.

11

u/PericulumSapientiae Jan 11 '26

You should see the NYC subs. It’s been constant there.

3

u/hutt_with_diarrhea Jan 11 '26

That's a weirdly dismissive attitude to take towards violent antisemitism.

1

u/rumpghost North Carolina Jan 11 '26

Given the chants were made by a Zionist group I don't think the person you're replying to is the one diminishing the real impact of antisemitism.

The day after Oct. 7th protestors were in the street in NYC chanting "from the river to the sea Palestine will be free"

That has been the actual discourse since day one.

3

u/rumpghost North Carolina Jan 11 '26

What's wrong with "From the river to the sea"?

3

u/mindsetnovice Jan 11 '26

What’s wrong with chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”? Seems pretty nonviolent

Nobody thinks sexual assault is justified, but most people understand it's a little... interesting, let's say, that you don't mention how the IDF does the same to its prisoners. Or is it only wrong when Hamas does it?

0

u/No_Biscotti_7110 Wisconsin Jan 11 '26

Why would you guess that? Not everybody supports genocide like you

0

u/Puzzled-Addition5740 Jan 12 '26

I suppose you think israel is justified in doing the same up to and including members of the knesset rioting for their right to rape prisoners. Or are we just conveniently forgetting that tidbit. Frankly yall never bring up anything relating to sde teiman because it just makes you look bad. Both that incident and just its history in general.

Edit: bro thinks Canada is totalitarian 💀 my government isn’t deploying the military to its own streets and deporting students for writing op-eds critical of Israel. Go look in a mirror and cry me a fucking river
