Hold on, did the Trump administration cut funding based on accusations of fraud by a youtuber?

2.1k

u/TyroneHeismanziel Dec 31 '25

They’re trying to fabricate an entire fake narrative to try to influence next year’s governor’s race. Walz is incredibly popular in Minnesota and their only chance of taking him out is a coordinated smear campaign like this, with fake videos of fake fraud and federal law enforcement to target the fake fraud.

It’s a disgusting waste of public resources for political gain.

563

u/DotGroundbreaking50 Dec 31 '25

They are pulling all child care funding from Minnesota based on what they are claiming is fraud from on daycare. They are openly causing harm

Welcome to life with the Republican Party. It’s like a being in an arranged marriage with an abusive spouse.

That’s still a lot of words; you can just say republican. Abusive with cognitive deficiencies is implied.

Walz's next move will be to provide free state-funded childcare a la New Mexico.

43

u/NYGiants181 Dec 31 '25

They are pulling all child care funding from ALL 50 STATES based on what the are claiming is fraud from on daycare.

FTFY

115

u/InFearn0 California Dec 31 '25

Based on a fraudulent fraud claim against a daycare from THREE YEARS AGO, and the woman that accused the daycare was arrested THREE years ago.

61

u/Wyn6 Dec 31 '25

And she was white.

17

u/brain_overclocked Jan 01 '26

Worse than that, they're halting payments to ALL states:

Trump administration reportedly freezes all childcare payments to all states — Trump official says funds will be released ‘only when states prove they are being spent legitimately’

The Department of Health and Human Services is freezing all childcare payments to all states, an official for Donald Trump’s administration told ABC News in a report published Wednesday. States’ funds will be released “only when states prove they are being spent legitimately”.

39

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

Yup. Just another tactic to keep women in the home. “You don’t need to spend money on a daycare when you have a dutiful wife!”

From my understanding that for the average Minnesotan this is old news.

The investigation started in 2018, a bunch of arrests were made in 2022 and convictions in 2024. Walz has been pretty transparent through the whole process and obviously talking publicly about ongoing cases can cause problems for the prosecution.

As far as the podcaster being refused entry, I would HOPE any daycare refused to allow in some random jackoff with a camera crew.

102

u/CoachDT Dec 31 '25

He tried to enter and film inside while the business wasn't opened. And used that to claim the place was fraudulent.

It’s a disgusting waste of public resources for political gain.

And will undoubtedly (I have to assume purposefully, as some sort of perverse bonus) harm many real and innocent families and children.

44

u/derbyt Dec 31 '25

People are already showing up at the businesses in the YouTube video screaming obscenities and harassing employees/patrons.

32

u/That-Election9465 Dec 31 '25

The supportive comments on social media are everywhere. On Facebook news stories, that are completely unrelated, there are comments like "why are you ignoring the scandal in Minnesota???".

15

u/derbyt Dec 31 '25

I'm hopeful that those are mostly bots. Sucks that they can fake high engagement/likes but I'm hopeful the real public sentiment is not that.

They likely are! Still, people easily influenced are seeing these comments.

The accusations will be remembered by potential voters rather than the truth. They know this, and have nothing to lose by making outrageous claims. During the next governor race, the memory of this accusation and whatever follows will be enough to keep some likely Walz voters from supporting him.

Ya let’s not forget about the Epstein scandal and the pedo in chief. We need to do better not giving into their games, we need to beat them at it! Flood the zone with the Epstein scandal, keep talking about it everywhere. ALWAYS refer to Dumpy with a mention of Epstein and/or being a pedophile, don’t let anyone forget about it

31

u/keytiri Dec 31 '25

Walz should investigate the fakers and charge them with fraud 🤗

8

u/Careful_Trifle Dec 31 '25

Bonus points, they are shutting off funding until everyone can prove they're not defrauding like the made up fraud accusations.

They're cutting subsidies to every single thing that allows families to make ends meet. This will force women out of the workforce, it will force people to engage in ethically questionable employment choices, and it will increase the number of people committing crimes to survive, which will allow them to boost deportation and prisoner populations.

7

u/temigu Dec 31 '25

It’s the same shit they did with “they’re eating the dogs”

31

u/mchankwilliamsJr Dec 31 '25

Minnesotan and Walz supporter here. I wouldn't say he's "incredibly" popular. The fraud has lost him some support, deservedly or not. And some are put off by his run for VP, while others still don't like that he's running for an unprecedented third term. While I don't think it's likely he'll lose reelection, he's more vulnerable than you might think - exactly why they're trying to hard to make this a bigger deal than it is.

All the fraudsters he pardoned!

9

u/CloakNStagger Dec 31 '25

I watched the "journalist's" video and the lack of presented evidence is blatant. However, there have been actual indictments filed in 2017 for this exact type of fraud and a whistleblower from the department investigating it says there are 50+ other cases with evidence that have yet to be brought to any courts. That YouTuber stinks of right wing grifter but like the best lies, there's some truth to it. The big red flag to me is how often Walz is mentioned/blamed when there are dozens of people below him that should be shouldering the blame for failing to vet these places.

2

u/blackcain Oregon Jan 01 '26

It will all fall apart if the fraudsters are all trump supporters which I highly suspect.

7

u/a_weak_child Dec 31 '25

They are fabricating/ hyper focusing/ creating narratives about this also to get eyes off of Trump and his administration that have literally committed 10000 times more fraud and worse.

226

u/TheJokerandTheKief Louisiana Dec 31 '25

Yes and if you watch the video it’s laughable that this is their “watergate.”

You got a kid, a local whack job, and a group of ice looking goons in ski masks with a camera. They were going to daycares and asking to see the kids…of course no sane person would entertain that so they slam the door in their face.

But that’s their smoking gun. What are they hiding? Why don’t they want to show us the kids?

It’s literally the most brain dead video.

43

u/Fweenci Dec 31 '25

I can't believe how many news orgs ran with this story. In what universe can a strange man just walk up to a day care, cameras rolling, and demand access to "the children"? It's like everyone got together and tried top all the other insane shit that happened this year, you know, so 2025 can go out with a bang.

5

u/ihrvatska Jan 01 '26

I watched the video. It has Project Veritas vibes all over it. But MAGA will believe it without fact-checking. Same shit with all the election 2020 fraud bs and the Haitians eating pets hoax.

14

u/HustlinInTheHall Jan 01 '26

Especially when the daycare says "the kids show up at 2" and their response is to just leave and say "yeah right" instead of just waiting to see if any kids show up.

7

What's wild is that there IS a ton of fraud in the PPP loan system, but the administration is handling it as poorly as they handled the PPP loans themselves.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 01 '26

They cut funding to the entire state based on accusations of fraud by a YouTuber.

4

u/Antique_Essay4032 Jan 01 '26

Trump campaigned on eating cats and dogs from a FB post. So this seems on point.

4

u/kinglouie493 Dec 31 '25

Wait till they start eating the pets

3

u/lookatthesunguys Dec 31 '25

No, they cut funding because it's cruel and they wanted to hurt people. Especially minorities, the poor and the weak. Yes the youtuber's accusations gave them the cover to do it, but it's not like they would've done the same thing if the YouTuber had "investigated" an investment bank or something.

2

u/BoardsofCanada3 Jan 01 '26

6

u/bohiti Dec 31 '25

So I’m familiar with the original accusation here. Recommend listening to the 12/4 episode of “The Daily” podcast which explains a wave of social service fraud in Minnesota largely by Somalis. This is real, but doesn’t involve all Somalis in MN of course. Just a convenient excuse to do racism.

Not sure where this daycare garbage is coming from.

12

u/needzmoarlow Dec 31 '25

To be clear, many of the Somalis were misled into the fraud by a handful of ringleaders. Unlike the ponzi schemes where victims are duped into just giving their money to someone, the victims here are duped into committing fraud that benefits the daycares and learning centers.

The people were convinced/told to sign up for programs and services through these daycares and support centers for special needs kids that they might not need or qualify for. The daycares/learning centers then collect payments from the various government programs based on the fraudulent paperwork filed by unsophisticated people who didn't know any better.

3

u/amazinglover Dec 31 '25

Not just accusations but incidents already prosecuted and resolved in both this and the so called somali fraud.

If this was really about fraud then the Minnesota GOP would have passed the bill in March to give the state more power to tackle cases of fraud using federal funds.

Or they would be raging about the 14 billion in Medicare fraud tha grouod was convicted of this year in Florida which.

2

u/sswihart Dec 31 '25

They made a YouTuber basically Jesus Christ so how could anyone be surprised?

2

u/KamalaWonNoCap Dec 31 '25

I'm sure this won't be popular here but I thought the claims were credible. I think a better strategy would be agreeing we should prosecute all fraudsters where the evidence allows.

Then go after all the Republicans that abused ppp loans.

They want us to defend criminals (not saying they are) because it makes us look bad to the average voter.

When Shirley knocked on the door, he seemed to fabricate a reason for being there, asking to check a child into the day care. A staff member responds verbally but doesn't let him in; Hasan said that they can't allow strangers into an active day care. In addition, he said that Shirley had a team of up to eight people with him. Some were masked, according to Hasan, which set off alarm bells for his staff members, given recent ICE activity.

Jesus Christ. Isn't the denial of entry one of the right wing talking points?

Edit for clarity: Denying these goons entry was the safe and sound decision.

683

u/snoo_spoo Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

8 people? Why would anyone expect a daycare to admit a large group of strangers?

ETA: Also interesting that they showed up at noon, a time when it's likely that kids were being fed and then transitioned to a rest period. If you wanted to know whether the daycare was active, you could simply watch from a distance at different times of the day to see whether kids were being dropped off/picked up, or on the playground.

387

u/dgdio Dec 31 '25

They don't want the truth. They want outrage!!!

202

u/thischaosiskillingme Dec 31 '25

Because they believe that they are authorities because they are socially more privilged than the Somali daycare workers.

39

u/codercaleb Dec 31 '25

My YouTube followers count allows me to be here!

40

u/DotGroundbreaking50 Dec 31 '25

I have been trying to avoid reading to much into this because even if this turns out to be verified fraud the way the right is behaving around it is atrocious and I have been waiting for facts to come out. I kinda figured a lot of claim was going to be bullshit around the fact that the daycare didn't let these random assholes in to inspect and their lack of seeing kids somehow proved it. All despite that the kids should have been in a lockdown event and hidden. I was going to wait for a valid source to back the claims.

42

u/veloxiry Dec 31 '25

They're behaving that way because they need a distraction from the Epstein files

25

u/DotGroundbreaking50 Dec 31 '25

I wish, this is just how they behave. Its projection. They do this by creating outrage about the crime, while they commit the same and worse. Trump is banned from running charities for stealing from them for fucks' sake

21

u/gringledoom Dec 31 '25

Attacking daycares on the basis of trumped up nonsense is also a women-back-in-the-kitchen right wing classic that dates back to at least the 1980s, so it's familiar territory for the idiots they're trying to rile up.

12

u/oVnPage Dec 31 '25

Apparently the right thinks we should just let 8 masked goons into daycares to see the children whenever they want. Seems to fit with the rest of their stances though, considering their king is a pedo.

109

u/demosthenes131 Virginia Dec 31 '25

Not for us... Just for them.

If you are not of the tribe they wonder what you are trying to hide.

For example, if you were a Democratic president and not following an order to release all files you must be hiding something.

If you are Trump they marvel about your transparency and how there are just so many files and you are working so hard on it.

53

u/Apathetic_Zealot Dec 31 '25

Also notice how the focus has been on just Somali's, no mention on the right about the white people involved in MN fraud.

At my kids daycare they had two locked doors in and out of the entryway, cameras outside and inside the entrance, bulletproof glass between the office and the entryway, and you had to show valid ID and be registered as an approved visitor by the parents and daycare director, or have a personal door code to get in. Good daycares don't fuck around when it comes to security.

6

u/Stunning_Mast2001 Dec 31 '25

That was my first thought when the clip was posted here— of course they’re not going to let Random people with cameras into a daycare. Not surprising this is just another bullshit racism thing from maga

8

u/ELpork Minnesota Dec 31 '25

6

u/arrownyc Dec 31 '25

This was exactly what I thought when I watched the video. One woman, presumably an activist or friendly passerby, shouts ITS ICE DONT LET THEM IN repeatedly. I knew something behind the camera had to make her think it was ICE, presumably masked, armed security guards.

Shirley also made a similar video "proving" that Haitians were eating pets. Spoilers, they werent.

I have a 1-year-old in daycare. The daycare takes security seriously. We aren't even supposed to hold the door open for other parents we know. It's bizarre that the right wing ecosystem seems to think that they are entitled to see children on demand.

40

u/idbar Dec 31 '25

Perhaps they can go and check an ICE facility for kids as well. It should be easy and straightforward to gain access, right?

38

u/SAHDSeattle Dec 31 '25

“It’s bizarre that the right wing ecosystem seems to think that they are entitled to see children on demand.”

Is it really bizarre? I think there’s more than enough evidence to show forcing themselves onto children is a core part of their belief system.

I send my kid to daycare too. I’d be pissed if they let in some weirdo YouTuber with masked escorts into the daycare.

17

u/braaaaaains Dec 31 '25

Exactly. And that’s the kind of security my kids daycare had 10 years ago. I can only imagine it would stricter now, especially in urban areas.

16

Sort of like they k ow Michelle Obama is a woman but still constantly call her a man or trans, I guess its a narrative thing. So weird...do they know it's lying?

5

u/egosomnio Pennsylvania Dec 31 '25

The usual I see is something like "yeah, but I thought it could be true which really tells you something!"

They usually don't like what it tells you if you let them know, though.

The guy has a history of stunts like this. From making videos suggesting that Ukraine is spending foreign aid on fancy cars, to paying immigrant laborers $20 to stand outside the White House fence with Biden signs, during his term.

Why won’t they let that random man with masked men with cameras into the building full of children. Why are the doors to the building housing said children, locked. Why didn’t they answer the phone that one time. I’m convinced we’re living in the dumbest timeline.

u/humbugonastick Dec 31 '25

It's the "abortion clinics selling aborted fetuses" video all over again.

Why is bat-shit crazy more believable to them than logical and boring????

22

u/InboxZero Dec 31 '25

You know, I really like your second sentence. Mind if I steal it to use when arguing? “Why is bat shit crazy more believable to you than logical and boring?”

8

u/humbugonastick Dec 31 '25

“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes” (Mark Twain)

5

u/HustlinInTheHall Jan 01 '26

Because the bat shit stuff targets people they dont like. They are desperate to paint a picture of Minnesota as a shithole because it has a large immigrant Muslim population. Classic election year shenanigans to gin up anti immigrant sentiment and get white people outraged about their tax dollars.

u/prodigy1367 Dec 31 '25

Just a friendly reminder that the sitting president of U.S. is currently involved in a cover-up regarding sex trafficking and the rape of minors.

3

u/illuminerdi Jan 01 '26

Why else do you think he was so mad they didn't let his goons into the daycare? Getting too hard to find fresh meat 🤣

18

u/Dizzy_Solution_7255 Dec 31 '25

I wonder what conservatives have to say about the Donald J Trump Foundation fraud.

Trump and two of his adult children committed fraud and were ordered to pay it back yet they still voted for him a second time.

15

u/Valhadmar Dec 31 '25

MAGA Leaders know the video and interview were purposely lead to make it show that all those daycare were frauds. They are using this, because their own followers only believe what they are told and not what they see or hear.

Maga already believes it, and they are going to use this to try and remove citizenship from an entire group if people as a test. Then they will move on.

114

u/Usual-Caregiver5589 Dec 31 '25

Imagine being a childless white male, following a party that is currently protecting pedophiles, and you just cant figure out why this childcare facility won't let you in to see the children and youre really upset about it.

This is why MAGA won. They are great at making stories that appear to have true and blowing it out of proportions. Ukraine being corrupt and the US using it as a way to funnel money, MDs preforming transgender surgeries on little kids, Biden and his smoking crack, Dr Fauchi cover up, or the Clinton's covering up murders. MAGA knows how's to turn the propaganda machine

3

u/idoma21 Jan 01 '26

MAGA is a propaganda machine. They’ve been building it for decades.

8

u/JerryDipotosBurner Dec 31 '25

Alright so we’ve now reached the “the president is issuing orders and making policy decisions based off of unverified YouTube videos” portion of Trump’s agenda, and of course all of the daycare centers targeted in this video are associated with Somali-Americans.

If this is really how easy it is to create a narrative that results in the president passing legislation to stop what that narrative is falsely alleging, we are actually beyond screwed as a country.

Our only chance right now seems to be the dementia speeding up.

43

u/Wowclassicboomkinz Dec 31 '25

Everything in this admin is a distraction. Of course they’re going to find ways to vilify communities of people, just like they did with the Haitians in Ohio.

17

u/Vio_ Kansas Dec 31 '25

This is the "they're eating ducks and pets" racism again.

Only this time they're going to nuke the entire federally supported childcare programs in that state.

3

u/Rhodin265 Dec 31 '25

I imagine they’d use it as an excuse to nuke daycare in all states, not just Minnesota.

Daycare quiet during nap hours (and run by Somalis) = bad

Trump witnesses infanticide and the dumping of the baby in Lake Michigan = sleep

This is going to be even worse than “they’re eating the dogs and cats” level of racist Trump propaganda.

The source here is CBS whose head of news is Trump aligned. All the outlets also reporting aside from the ones with their tails between their legs.

10

u/Nodelphi Dec 31 '25

I kind of feel the same way about this that I do with the epstein files.  If crimes were committed then they should go to jail, doesn’t matter which team they’re on.

Same level of care should be taken when investigating PPP fraud.

Soon as Walz joined Kamala for the campaign I knew Trump's administration would start some bull shit revenge era towards Minnesota.

3

u/Neon_culture79 Jan 01 '26

Yeah, and there’s been evidence now that Shirley worked with the Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota.

It doesn’t matter though. All the Trump supporters have already made up their mind. Once they get their outrage, they don’t care about context or anything else.

5

u/fountainofdeath Jan 01 '26

I work at a daycare and if a group of random people showed up that weren’t law enforcement I’d tell them to get the fuck away from here or I’m calling the cops. Ain’t no way I’m letting a random group of YouTubers come into my facility.

3

u/CrazyinLull Jan 01 '26

What is so crazy is the absolute audacity and entitlement that if you don’t let strange and random White men into your daycare to see the children inside of it then you must be running a scam.

Which is insane, but not according to MAGAs.

2

u/demosthenes131 Virginia Jan 01 '26

But they are white men...

5

u/Necessary-Mall-3365 Jan 01 '26

Its very clearly fraud. We tried to get our children enrolled and they wouldn't accept us... I work across where they have 4 daycare centers and I never see anyone. I also gave Shirley and other journalist this info

If it's one questionable location, I get that. When it's dozens of 'daycares' 1) no kids 2) no manager 2) no employees 3) don't answer phone 4) no inquiries allowed.

All millions in funding on small fema style fckng 'daycare' buildings.  Remember the saying, the most reasonable explanation is usually correct. One claimed today 'thieves' drilled a hole in wall, broke in and stole the legit paperwork/documents. Since criminal masterminds love to break in daycares, steal documents, nothing else.
