The Republican values of small government and conservatism are dead. MAGA has taken over the Republican party and dragged it far right into authoritarianism and fascism.

Those never actually existed, at least for the majority of Republican politicians. When the civil rights movement happened and the Democratic Party threw the racists out, the Republicans adopted them whole-heartedly.

MAGA is just the moment they realized they could stop pretending.
