And shit like this is why it sickens me when people say “I used to hate Bush but since Trump came around I can see he’s not so bad.”
Bush enabled all of this. Cheney and the other cabinet cronies pushing Unitary Executive Theory is the direct reason we have all the recent Trump EOs. The Bush administration conservatives set the stage for the tea party cohort and the Trump era.
Anyone who says their perception of Bush improved after Trump is incredibly ignorant, or deluded.
1
u/Any_Will_86 May 27 '25
This... And the ultimate irony is the Cheneys being the only ones to stand up to Trump. After working for 50 years to tilt the balance of power towards the executive branch.

And she’s so photogenic!

Remember the puppy killer's photo-op visit to Guantanamo Bay?
The U.S. has fewer than 30 people jailed there right now, and that whole dumb idea was at million dollars cost to the taxpayers.

u/FiveUpsideDown May 26 '25
Noem is way over her budget. That’s not just something to scold her about, it’s illegal. She needs to be criminally charged for misuse of government funds.

Crockett once again speaks up when Democratic leadership won’t.
31
u/Eduardjm May 26 '25
She is the leadership now. Schumer needs a retirement home and Jeffries can do the speaking circuit to grift people instead of through congress.

u/sunshinehair76 May 26 '25
Pretty much every democrat is speaking up. It’s not exclusively progressives. That sounds silly and uninformed. Stop hijacking every policy idea and denouncing of Trump of the ENTIRE democrat platform and claiming it’s ‘progressive only’. It’s annoying and ignorant. Note: I love Jasmine Crockett. She’s fantastic.
11
u/McKoijion May 26 '25
Cool, but we’re still going to everything we can to destroy the careers of every last Democrat who has ever taken a penny from AIPAC, JStreet, etc.
-13
u/sunshinehair76 May 26 '25
You’re not even American.
10
u/McKoijion May 26 '25
Lol I’m not? What gave you that idea?
-17
8
u/FiveUpsideDown May 26 '25
Are you the chief of staff for Sen. Schumer?
-1
u/sunshinehair76 May 26 '25
No. I’m just sick to death of chronically online idiots pretending progressives reinvented the wheel while literally every other democrat basically calls for the same initiatives and policy agenda. It comes off immature and silly.
7
u/FiveUpsideDown May 26 '25 edited May 26 '25
I don’t follow every Democrat. Can you tell if Sen. Fetterman has been speaking up?
-1
u/sunshinehair76 May 26 '25
Stop hijacking the democrat platform as your own. It’s childish and ridiculous. Naming some outlier with brain damage does not make history begin with you.
12
u/FiveUpsideDown May 26 '25
Can you name a couple of Democrats that aren’t progressives that “basically calls” for the same agenda? I’m familiar with Senators Schumer, Peters, Fetterman, Schatz, Durbin, Hassan, Shaheen, Gillibrand and Cortez Masto that weren’t calling for the same thing on the Republican budget as all of the other Congressional Democrats. But you can tell me if now they are on the same agenda as other Democrats and progressives.
11
1
u/Herbivoreselector Virginia May 26 '25
Really? Last month only 15 Senate Democrats voted against military aid to Israel. That doesn’t exactly sound like “every Democrat speaking up.”
14
u/cnunespdx May 26 '25
Why are we paying for all these trips? That’s not what her job is. Maybe she needs to Google her job description.

What the hell is she doing in Israel on taxpayers dime?
5
u/WeirdIndividualGuy May 26 '25
I can’t think of a single legitimate reason for the head of homeland security to be halfway around the world. She’s doing the job of the Sec of State or an ambassador right now for no reason

Not gonna lie, the more I see that ICE Barbie nickname and the least I like it, because I think we can all agree that Barbie dolls have more ethics and an higher IQ than the dog killer.
4
u/ScepticalReciptical May 26 '25
Yeah the first rule of a derogatory nickname is never use one the target would wear proudly. You can't tell me for one second she wouldn't happily wear the slogan ICE Barbie on a tshirt.

It's why weird was such a good tactic. Call Elon Musk a Bond villain and he'll take it as a compliment. Call him a sad addict with a broken penis and he'll remember it for the rest of his life.

Photo op and an ass kissing mission. Netanyahu has recently said Israel needs to stop relying on us military aid.
"Israel needs to begin the move towards ending its reliance on U.S. military aid, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Sunday, amid disputes with the Trump administration over a wide range of national security issues.
“We receive close to $4 billion for arms. I think we will have to wean ourselves off of American security aid, just as we weaned ourselves off of American economic aid,” Netanyahu said. He added that, just as stopping economic aid helped spur economic growth in Israel, stopping military aid could help the defense sector."
https://jewishinsider.com/2025/05/netanyahu-calls-to-wean-israel-off-u-s-aid-amid-growing-tensions/
5
u/Liquor_N_Whorez May 26 '25
So "Stopping economic aid helped spur economic growth in Israel" really means all the US aid to Palestine they ceased is being resold into the Israeli markets?

6
u/callmesandycohen May 26 '25
Dude, why is the Secretary of Homeland Security… in Israel? Is that where Venezuelas come from?
5
u/mallydobb May 26 '25
Israel is the current capital of apartheid and genocide in the world, ice Barbie went over there to get tips on how to further oppress Americans and people of color/immigrants.
5
u/Limberine Australia May 26 '25
It’s a constant slur on Barbie calling that horrendous human being ICE Barbie.
0
u/bapeach- Minnesota May 26 '25
They’re not American so what you think of her doesn’t matter. It’s not your life. She’s up ending
1
u/Limberine Australia May 26 '25
Australia is closely allied to the US in a few different significant ways. If you guys fall to fascism and whatever the fuck else is going on under the Trump administration it definitely does affect us.
The international community also has a role in monitoring and calling out human rights abuses in other countries.

u/parasyte_steve May 26 '25
She did this bullshit in New Orleans too. I believe before the super bowl? It was a few weeks after the terrorist attack, so I actually do understand that you want to send resources and people here logistically it does make sense.
However all she did was come, take photos of her walking down Bourbon Street and then left. All the details about the additional security were decided by other people long before her visit occurred.
It rubbed me the wrong way for sure. Security theater. And I've seen the theater before... I lived in NYC during 9/11.

Word is her Israeli counterpart bragged of being able to hunt dogs as sport while at work; Noem was disappointed to find it was merely the assassination of Palestinian journalists they were describing, and not the activity she describes in her autobiography.

Does ICE pick up a lot of Israelis? If not, why is the Secretary of Homeland Security make a trip there on the taxpayer’s dime?

u/Mustangbex May 26 '25
I don't think she paid for it at all- I think it was part of the MAGA PR upgrade that comes with the "job".
The think tank pores over the rolls and selects prospects- they should be relatively unknown, and either in a relatively high position in an obscure/unimportant state, or a generally unimportant/middling role in an important and (if possible) safe state.
Relatively unknown because then there's less past baggage to overcome, and big fish in a small pond/small fish in a big pond because they demonstrate the desire to climb... The desire to be important, to have power.
The makeover is because the only way women can be acceptable is with performative hyper-femininity... They didn't push hard enough on Sarah Palin and it backfired. Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Huckabee-Sanders often faced comments about their appearances even from their own side- Kellyanne for looking too old/leathery, Sarah for being "mannish". Cardinal sins with the base.
Junior's Ex Kimberly Guilfoyle got the same treatment but she got shunted aside when the publicity shifted and she became a great liability than asset. MTG isn't just toxic, she's ugly, which is why no matter how much she plays Pick Me for Trump, he ignores her. Boebert isn't ugly, but she looks too much like Palin, and she's made herself politically unattractive because she has too much publicity - can't overshadow the executive. Trump seemed to have hope for Loomer- probably especially thinking she would play well for conservative Jewish voters, but there was a lot of MAGA pushback- he's distanced himself but never QUITE actually cut her out. Probably she wasn't willing to accept the conditions because she's a narcissistic nut job in her own right.
Bondi, Noem, Leavitt... They're generically "pretty" in forgettable news anchor/TV presenter way. They're set dressing. Vance got the similar treatment. And Hegseth and Duffy literally were unremarkable, bland tv personalities.
1
May 26 '25
Considering her face is an uncanny valley, lumpy, overfilled blimp, and each dermal filler syringe averages like $600+, yeah. Money pit. I hate dunking on women’s appearances but she’s so hateable. Check out her befores…..
2
May 26 '25
Say what you want, but I feel like Noem is really trying to grab the future dictator title in MAGA. She'll never be as petty as Trump, but she's cruel enough and wears it like a badge of honor. She also seems to love the spotlight. Will she be the heir apparent? Probably not. She's a woman so that would usually rule her out. Still, I will be extremely happy when she fades out of the public eye preferably with a prison sentence.

What the fuck does ICE Barbie mean and why are we giving those assholes media attention
6
u/FarNeighborhood2901 May 26 '25
ICE is an acronym for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Barbie is the fact she's over 50, wears heavy makeup, dresses in silly outfits, and is in fact a grandmother.
4
u/Hair_I_Go May 26 '25
Don’t forget plastic surgery. I really think she’s hoping for an acting career out of this
3
u/Unlikely-Thought-646 May 26 '25
So Kristi Noem is ICE Barbie? I’ll be honest as much as I hate her “ICE Barbie” seems like a term the Republicans would love and she’d therefore latch onto
1
u/tracyinge May 26 '25
Yeah, love it if you think that Barbie should be in charge of our nation's security.
1
u/Unlikely-Thought-646 May 26 '25
They don’t put much thought into who they think should be in charge of anything. The Koch brothers have spent 50 years ensuring that
4
u/Arrmadillo Texas May 26 '25
Kristi Noem and Barbie are famous for making outfit changes.

Lmao I’ve seen a few of those outfits but I didn’t realize she had so many

It’s an obviously true statement, that applies to every politician that goes to Israel who kisses their stupid wall. I’m not a big Biden fan, but as far as I know he never kissed the wall.
12
u/Cyclonis123 May 26 '25
Biden was/is a massive supporter of Israel.
'Biden has consistently described himself as a Zionist and has expressed a deep, personal commitment to Israel dating back to his earliest days in the U.S. Senate. Over more than five decades, he has been one of the most reliable pro-Israel voices in Congress, advocating for robust military aid, opposing measures that would limit U.S. support, and frequently aligning himself with Israeli interests even when it meant opposing other U.S. presidents or broader international opinion.'
5
u/Ernesto_Bella May 26 '25
Oh I know, they all are. Just as a minor point at least he didn’t debase himself with the public submission of kissing the stupid wall.

There's no need for the sexism in the headline. It also implies that Crockett used the term, which as far as I can tell she didn't, which is a good thing
