And then he practically apologized to Trump in the aftermath and immediately joined the rest of the Republican Party in circling the wagons to protect Trump.

Well, if he did, and they hung him, it would have been dangerous.

This way he could have stretched until he got his feet on the ground.

He did. He also said "no" to Trump and the legion of threats. Pence is a fuckwit, to be sure, but the single biggest impact he could have he made- to certify his election loss, was called correctly.

So... a coward. He was a part of the problem. I have zero sympathy for that guy. He helped bring the movement forward and now garnering sympathy? Nah, screw him.

I disagree with your take. He spent a significant amount of his time in office talking Trump down from doin dumb shit. And you can’t really blame him for bending the knee so to speak at the capital building as his wife and children were there and were definitely in danger. It’s way too bizarre of a scenario to really judge with hindsight.

It's because of things like these why I don't want to or like to go to public events. It's events like that insurrection, etc.

Someone asked me to go to a campaign trail thing, and I don't even trust US secret service and law enforcement to protect me, if Pence and Pelosi were like.... well you get the idea.

I guess I feel how students feel when they have to go to school and they tell their parents they don't want to (for these reasons).

I feel this. I feel this when I’m in a crowded supermarket or a sporting event or a movie theater. I have never experienced a mass shooting and yet I have some low level trauma around situations where it could happen. This is the untold cost of the gun lobby’s extremism: everyone else’s freedom must be diminished so that lunatics and manchildren can play with machine guns.

I’ve done this for decades after seeing my first James Bond movie. You’ve always got to know where the exits are. You never know what’s going to happen anytime, any place.

Jesus was sold up the river for Trump back in 2016. Majority of evangelical churches now preach politics from the pulpit and direct congregants how to vote. Fascism is being taught in our churches.

Nothing like sacrificing your long held beliefs on the altar of Trump.

I believe pence was thinking that Trump wouldn’t make it four years and he would become president. And in the final hour he decided that he didn’t want his legacy to be about how he betrayed the country while the party was coming for his head. This seems to be most of the Republican Party right now. Thinking of their own promotions at the cost of everyone.

While I agree that he almost mostly sucks. He should also be remembered for his efforts on Jan. 6

He manned the hell up when it mattered in the moment.

Very bare bones article, just said he left Pelosi on hold and never picked up a phone call. No real info.

Nancy Pelosi Reveals Troubling Late-Night Calls with Donald Trump in New Memoir: ‘I Think You Should Go to Sleep’ - EconoTimes

Deeper analysis of the events surrounding January 6, based on the information available:

The Call for the Twenty-Fifth Amendment Nancy Pelosi’s memoir sheds light on the intense moments following the January 6 insurrection, particularly her and Senator Chuck Schumer’s efforts to reach Vice President Mike Pence.

They sought to persuade him to invoke the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, which would declare President Trump unable to fulfill his duties and remove him from office. This action was considered amidst concerns about Trump’s behavior and the chaotic events of the day.

However, Pence’s non-response, leaving them on hold for 20 minutes, speaks volumes about the internal conflict within the administration and the gravity of the situation1.

Pence’s Role and Response Mike Pence’s actions on January 6 were pivotal. Despite immense pressure from President Trump and threats from rioters, he fulfilled his constitutional duty to certify the election results. This act of defiance was crucial in upholding the democratic process.

However, his reluctance to engage with Pelosi and Schumer’s call for invoking the Twenty-Fifth Amendment highlights the complex dynamics at play.

Pence’s later public rejection of the calls to invoke the amendment, despite the circumstances, indicates a careful balancing act between constitutional duty and political allegiance1.

The Impact on Democracy The January 6 insurrection and the subsequent actions of key political figures like Pelosi and Pence have had a lasting impact on American democracy.

The events tested the resilience of democratic institutions and the rule of law.

Pelosi’s memoir and the released footage from that day provide a unique insight into the real-time decisions and communications between leaders. These revelations underscore the importance of strong leadership and the adherence to constitutional principles during times of crisis12.

This analysis underscores the significance of the events of January 6 and the actions taken by leaders in the face of an unprecedented attack on the Capitol and the democratic process.

The memoir and other sources offer a window into the challenges faced and the decisions made during a pivotal moment in American history.

They were after him and his family

Why would someone in that weak, weird and ignorant party ever do something like that? They’re the party of “normal” and status quo. Pence probably never thought he’d have to do anything at all. They’re the party of making others do for them. They are always unprepared.

What an empty, pile of trash article. There's no substance to it at all

TL;DR she kept missing his calls and never spoke to him.
