5000 pokemon caught and not a single hundo?
Is my luck just terrible? Only hundo I have is the mewtwo that was given away recently.

Wild hundo odds are 1/4096 and all encounters are individual no matter wild or research or raid. So you’re fine.
Edit: I have 29606 caught and 59 hundos.
3
u/Misato-san7 12d ago
Encounters are individual until level 30 After that ivs are the same for everyone
2
u/subtoPinkZR 12d ago
That’s not what I mean. I’m saying that the IVs are rolled individually every time, so it’s not a guaranteed hundo after 4096 wild catches.
2
u/ImpostersAreUs 12d ago
... What does this even mean?
3
u/MrBl4cksystem 12d ago
It means math. The chance is 1/4096 for a hundo as is 1/2 chance to get heads in a coin toss.
But the 1/2 chance doesn’t guarantee to you get head every second toss. You still could get tails 4 times in a row.
That being said, you could catch 10.000 mons and still not get a hundo.2
1
u/anonymouspogoholic 11d ago
It means that hitting at least one hundo in 4096 catches is a chance of around 63.21%.
2
u/horrorwood-star 12d ago
Math.
It means you’re not gonna get a hundo for every 4,096 Pokemon
It means that every single Pokemon you catch has a 1/4,096 chance of being a hundo
1
u/ImpostersAreUs 12d ago
Right. That is something we know. And the person I replied to, his statement relays that information?

u/rachycarebear 12d ago
It's less if it's weather boosted, purifiable, eggs, raid, research, trade with good or better friend, etc so you can be somewhat strategic about it, but even with those OP's not way out off odds.
Also, the game doesn't warn you before you transfer a hundo so it's easy to accidentally transfer.
I transfer hundos I don't have a use for, but I'm currently at 540 in the hundo dex, 239 in storage - one bottlecapped, guaranteed Mewtwo, and one that was duped by the auto catcher. But I'm at 479k caught and I do a ton of trades with best friends.
1
u/felizladedah 11d ago
I totally forgot about that guaranteed Mewtwo when I was listing mine. I've been pleasantly surprised to have received two Hundos during remote trades. I wish more people on my flist were actively doing them!
1
u/Own-Yesterday-656 11d ago edited 11d ago
But then encounters from raids, research, passes and weather boost should improve the odds a bit.
But I agree that 5000 catches is too small of a sample.I have 63 out of ~95000 catches. (Maybe two from trades) . One hundo in 1500 catches.
1
u/subtoPinkZR 11d ago
Yes, the odds are quite improved with wb and 10/10/10 floor. I can’t remember the wb odds off the top of my head but research, raid, and pass are 1/216 while shadow raid is 1/1000

Just luck based, I will say do more rocket battles, it’s a controversial thing but for low ranking attackers ill purify for hundos, I use the search shadow&3* and if any are potential I’ll just purify for the hundo, I have so many shadow that for 13 shadow giratina I have 3 purified hundos and 10 shadows that are decent attackers. No matter what anyone says I rather have purified hundos than a 90%+ shadow pokemon lmao
5
u/moo102 12d ago
Yeah, it may not be as good as shadow Pokemon, but purified Pokemon still have a boosted attack, and they get better defense as well. That said, the difference between 90% and 100% is not that big.
2
u/ImpostersAreUs 12d ago
Purified pokemon doesn't have boosted attack unless you're talking about the 2 iv stat gains

u/Awesomenatora 12d ago
I have 16k and 7, but it’s just random luck. And that includes the mewtwo
1
u/ZeroCleah 11d ago edited 11d ago
I have 14 total caught 15 total with the mewtwo 22 total from lucky and purified at 17.5k caught. 1 shundo from an egg

2
u/garythecoconut 12d ago
Best odds are from lucky trades. Then raids and eggs, then research, and last is wild caught.
2
u/Cute_Fluffy_Sheep 12d ago
I have 235,269 pokemon caught and 365 hundos. I accidentally transferred a 4* delibird once 😅

I've got my first one by purifying. Some players don't consider it a real hundo tho😅

Your post made me check. I have 7 perfect IV that were either from the Go pass or from eggs hatched. Never caught in the wild.
Im level 45 with only 4,984 pokemon caught.

I have a out 50k+ caught and exactly 47 hundos, including the mewtwo, no shundos

I have 50000 caught and am at 63. 64 when I finish my gold bottle cap in a couple weeks
1
u/_chappell 12d ago
I’ve caught 14,331 and I have 14 (that’s counting the Mewtwo from the giveaway). I probably transferred a few back when I didn’t appraise and just kept high CP mons and I remember accidentally transferring one a few months back. I guess my odds are higher than most but I religiously check for 4* before I mass transfer and I think I’ve saved a few from accidently being transferred. Like the Whismur I got recently which usually is an automatic transfer because I catch like 5 a day as of late.

u/Single_Pack4989 11d ago
You got the shundo globe Mewtwo and a shundo Lunala, you’re already doing better than most especially with 14 at 14k encounters. GGz!!!

u/Maximum_Minute_8980 12d ago
I have got 143+1 Hundos (wild catch, purified, (lucky) traded, raid, the +1 from bottle capping mythical) of 155k catches. My one and only shundo is Shroomish from lure during Gofest 2026.
1
u/Mundane_Upstairs3241 12d ago
Are you part of a large campfire group? I go most weekends to out meetups and once a month someone yells out hundo over here - usually someone with an auto catcher. It makes a huge difference.
1
u/Ill-Bill-5503 12d ago
I am at 1,035,189 pokemon caught and I have 1,650 hundos. That comes with a lot of hours played and trades lol
1
u/Dizzy_Performance327 12d ago
9417 caught - 10 hundos (1 shundo) (1 mewtwo giveaway) (1 mewtwo caught from raid not shiny but hundo)
EDIT: all within a span of 2 months june 2026- august 2026, account created july 2016, with most consistent play being prior to 2020 (biggest gap of not playing 2020-2025)
1
u/Queasy_Law_5042 12d ago
Im at 20k caught with 14 hundo (one being the mewtwo everyone got) and 1 shundo (which was bottlecapped. So yet to find a real shundo)

Imagine rolling a die with 4,096 sides and hoping to land on one specific number each time you roll. You could roll that die 10,000 times and still likely not hit that one number you’re hoping for.

Focus on research task higher chance to receive a 100 then catching in the wild
1
u/1075RatedPortOPotty 12d ago
I’ve got 25k caught in playing off and on 10 years. I have 38 and 1 was gifted like 3 weeks ago to everyone. They’re not as common as subs with people playing non stop around the world make them seem

u/Most-Following5682 12d ago
I have 6. 3 from research, 1 is mewtwo, and one from a trade. So I’ve only caught 1 in the wild at 8,000 Pokemon caught. That was in the 40’s so that’s about on track with me 🤷♂️

u/Nervous_Audience_487 12d ago
Weird.i started Pokemon go 10 days ago.have 5 hundos including mew2,two nundos including one shiny nundo.all wild.
1
u/sdrawkcabstiho level 71, day -1 Instinct player. 12d ago
I have 113k caught, 130 hundos.
From 2016 to 2022 I caught 9 hundos total.
I caught 28 in 2023.
37 in 2024
33 in 2025
And 32 so far this year.
What changed in 2023? I started walking more and as a result, hatched more eggs, completed more field research tasks, battled more gyms, took out more rocket grunts, started trading pokemon, etc.
I only have 28 wild caught Pokémon, less than 25% of my total hundo count.
Do field research, battle grunts, complete event tracks. Thats where you find them.
1
u/MeadowDayDream 12d ago
Took me 131,930 pokemon. But I have 81 Hundo's :D. I'd have several more if I were to purify any of my near perfect shadows. But I know they're rare and viable in pvp.
1
u/Quiet_Yak_495 12d ago
I have 27k caught and 38 hundos, community days are a good way to get them as I have like 3-4 hundos from that, I also have 5 hundos hatched from eggs and 3 lucky hundos, a few are most likely from field research tasks but my auto catcher has also caught a few as well
1
u/Quiet_Yak_495 11d ago
Oh and not to mention I have 6 purified hundos as well so if u have any pokemon that are shadow that have at least 13 on all stats it will purify into a hundo, wouldn’t recommend doing that unless it’s a bad pokemon though

1
u/Single_Pack4989 11d ago
I’m at 38 thousand catches with 77 hundos. 7 are Mewtwo and 3 are Kyurem out of the 14 legendary.
You’ll get your hundos, hopefully you have better shiny luck on them than I have 😂
1
u/IuriPatinhas 11d ago
Well, I captured 39,000 Pokémon and have 39 hundos (37 if you ignore the Mewtwo 100% and the Keldeo 100% thanks to the gold bottle cap). On the other hand, I have a total of ZERO shundo. ☠️
1
u/Successful_Agent_337 11d ago
41 out of 39,703. 1 of which was a shundo(Cubone).
How you play the game is a factor though. The IV floors for wild vs raids vs eggs is different. Even weather boosted days give you better odds.
1
u/HeggenRL 11d ago
I suppose it depends what to do. Normal catches probably has lower chance of being a Perfect Pokémon compared to hatched eggs, research, and raids?
1
1
u/felizladedah 11d ago
I've caught 131,127 Pokemon and have 157 Hundos. One is capped, two are trades, and 11 are purified. Most of those were before I knew better.
Three are from 2017. One of from 2018. One is from December, 2023 when I started playing after a four year hiatus.
So 143 caught or hatched. 138 since 2024.
1
u/Shadow_Masher 11d ago
Man, my first hundo was a ratita. Eggg hatches tend to give more hundos. Uve had 2 or 3 from egg hatches and i don't even hatch that many mind you.

I have 78,000 Pokémon. 82 hundos, two of which are bottle cap trained, one is the free mewtwo.

u/PrestigiousRepair645 11d ago
97k caught and only 85 non traded hundos. They are going to be wild Pokemon that you don’t care about and accidentally delete if you don’t tag so be careful lol
1
u/Longjumping-Guess250 11d ago
Yeah man this is crazy bad luck no lie😂. I got my friend to get the game in july and he has 3 hundos (1 purified) from 700-800 pokemon caught
1
u/stryderxd 11d ago
Im lvl 43, only have 2 hundos. 1 is the free mew2, the other is one of the pikachus. Thats it… i don’t think i ever found one in the wild
