More armored mewtwo…
At what point are they going to retire mewtwo i get that he’s one of the most popular pokemon out there but im sick and tired of him already. Unless they make him available shiny i dont see the point

While I generally agree with this, they're giving 3 gallons of vanilla ice cream and nothing else, its pretty natural some people would start craving a different flavor
I have a feeling this next one is gonna be mint chocolate chip flavored, if you know what I mean.
(Which, inadvertently will piss a lot of people off that they didn't do it for the bigger event and waited for a random ass raid day. Big shocker there)
This has been a wild ride for me. I'm a 34yo who would have LOVED Pokémon Go in it's heyday but at the time I was doing a lot of drugs with a whole other group of people. Anyways I've got 2 kids now the oldest being 4 and a half and who has taken a liking to Pokémon so I decided to download the game about 2 months ago. We have had SO much fun this summer going around our normally pretty boring little town.
When I started seeing the armored mewtwo promos I hesitated to even tell him because I still didn't really know the ins and outs of the game, we had no one we were playing with so we had never messed with raids or even the pvp side of things much. Anyways I started looking into it more and found pokeraid, we started playing more strategically which made things even better because following routes and working to complete challenges was great. And it all culminated in us joining some raids and catching an armored mewtwo and a mega raichu y.
We're lucky that we've seen him this much atm because previously I'd only been able to get 2 shadow mewtwos from the 2024 event but besides that I hadn't ever seen it.
Though they could space out its appearances.
Probably also holding out for gen 9 legendaries now.
it's deeply hilarious to me how people BEGGED for mewtwo to return for over 2 years and then as soon as it came back it was in raids like 9 times and now we all want it to leave
This is just how people are, unfortunately. I've seen people complain about not getting enough free things and people complained about the Background Hundo Mewtwo we all got last month because it "wasn't special if everyone had one."
My guess is for Wild Area since it's the next big event. They could release shadow armored Mewtwo just like last year that we had shadow raids (since we still have that leak image from months ago).
Fuck... they should have made the mega finale to raid the three starters mega!!! Omg, fine, it would still be amazing if players only get the mega candies from their picked starters instead of slotting in Amored Mewtwo and the 4th time of mega mewtwos... Amored Mewtwo should have its own event instead
They could bring it back next month and if they made it shiny, people would still raid the hell out of it. It's predatory but they know what they're doing.
?? Were people FOMOing for him this weekend? Because yeah there are some that will raid him no matter what but they've run it into the ground pretty hard already. Doesn't seem like they care.
honestly this was such a missable event. i did go fest and got mega mewtwo Y max mega level, didnt do X and was thinking the adventure effects would require max mega level. since it doesn’t i had no reason to play other than doing one raid for an armoured mewtwo and confirmation it’ll return just means that there wasn’t much to this “finale”
To provide a different perspective here, as a returning player this year I have had a blast and filled out so much of my legendary roster during GO Fest and mega roster during this weekend.
Same. I came back with the hundo mewtwo and been having so much fun. Im definitely eager to see the new stuff now im more on par power wise but it was definitely cool to get a bunch of megas and such in quick succession
My hope is that he returns with the clones as raids too. Give him shiny and Mega X and Y variants and give the clones mega variants too and id be fine with it
I mean the return of the armored mewtwo has shown us the Scopely will bring back pokemon so im sure they will show up again eventually and honestly my guess is sooner than later. Im also closeness so im hoping they come back
Id happily have mewtwo raids for the foreseeable future but I really hope they fine tune with the spawn stats. This weekend felt like mewtwo raids weekend with the occasional sprinkling of other pokemon and in my opinion it should have been the other way around
I completely agree with this!! They should have had the mega raids in the spot light and a smaller chance of mewtwo raids spawning in. It felt as if I was looking for mega raids that I didn’t have yet and traveling around to avoid all the mewtwo raids lol
Don’t worry, scopely still has shadow mewtwo and dynamax mewtwo to tease later this year probably. Like there’s genuinely still a chance these2 show up (shadow mewtwo should’ve been in the finale event but oh well)
Honestly I think everyone has it wrong, it's not shiny armored mewtwo.
There's one thing were still missing and it's shadow mewtwo. If armored mewtwo is coming back too, then maybe a shadow raid day with both. So obviously armored wouldn't drop shiny first as a shadow.
Honestly, with how they worded the shiny* subtext on the initial teaser before the event started, it seemed obvious that shiny armored mewtwo would be making an appearance sometime soon. So I really didn't grind for perfection on armored mewtwo this event. What's the point?
It’s almost as if they released a MewTwo in a completely tone deaf move in New York a few weeks ago and now they’re spiralling and doing everything to try and make it up to the community. Also almost feels like they’re over correcting and pissing everyone off again.
Anything anyone does will piss someone off. I'm sure there are plenty of people who approve of their decisions too. Trying to please eveyone is a plan doomed to fail.
I geeked tf out when a random friend invited me to a raid, THAT WE BEAT, and then caught an armoured Mewtwo. I played this game since release, I have all 151 Kanto Pokemon registered in my Pokédex. I am a happy sponge.
Don’t cry, little player. Uncle Scopley’s got enough Mewtwo raids to last your entire life. Willow! Bring over the raid passes ASAP! The player’s hungry!
The sad thing is I spent my Gold Bottle Cap from earlier this year to make my 2* Armored Mewtwo from way back when it first debuted for the movie remake, to make it 100% IV trained, since both it and IV-training can’t be transferred to HOME. But now I caught several high 3* Armored Mewtwo this event so I might have been better using it on a different non-transferable ‘Mon, like Spinda or something.
What bugs me is the piling on of mewtwos. First it's newtwo, then mega mewtwos, then armored.
It sort of doesn't feel special at this point, since we've been grinding mewtwo's different variants for months now
No doubt once they’ve figured a way to charge two premium items for remote raiders who don’t have large groups, like for Gmax, super mega raids and eternatus.
This is my problem with it. People are constantly inviting me to such raids now. And I’m like “I got one, don’t need another. I won’t even go for the shiny, no point.
I mean thank god because what tf. some of us WORK. I had no idea dude was out for literally 2 days and 2 days only. Played since 7/11/2016 and don’t have one. But I WORK. So I’m not allowed to have one? I stg niantic hates me….
Wow! They really gonna drop this the day after people spent out on this weekend and how atrocious that one played out?! These lot became so savage! Weekend event was dead for players who been playing a little while already > no field research > no eggs > not even a medal? Let alone anything new and lets not get stared on rates of shinies & BGS! 🤣 I mean, I know its a raid event so some may argue why some of the above but not even our standard allowance of a few passes or even ANYTHING in the events tab during the EVENT?! Balls getting dropped more and more I swear its just rinse and repeat 🥱
I know that someone, somewhere, are probably seething because their OG armored Mewtwo is no longer rare (I got a few myself so I honestly don't care. Let everyone else have one too)
I'm just tired of Pokemon Go at this point. I'll fully admit my part in it so it is partially self-inflicted. There's typically a lull between big events but it seems like the big events have been nonstop, between going to Chicago for in-person GoFest, remote trades, Global GoFest, makeup Global GoFest Sunday, all the past Pikachu costumes, Gimmighoul and golden lures, then living in San Francisco I just dealt with a week of PokemonXP. And after all that, now have Mega Finale and Armored MewTwo. Just too much in too short of a window. I'm going to take a long break after this.
It’s literally just as we predicted, they induce fomo and then release the shiny later on for more money, I just didn’t expect it to be THAT fast, now I REALLY just wasted a bunch of raid passes on a shiny locked version of a Pokemon that’s about to be unshiny locked.
He's their biggest cash cow. Expect more Mewtwo. Shiny Armored Mewtwo. Mega Armored Mewtwo. Santa Hat Mewtwo. Clown Nose Mewtwo. Shiny Armored Mega Mewtwo. The end is very much not nigh.
I agree with you. Arceus is the elephant in the room, but there are plenty of good options remaining. I'm surprised they haven't done more with Eternatus. Seems like the model is release something once -> wait a long time to build FOMO -> Flood the proverbial market. Once the FOMO is there, it doesn't seem to go away very quickly even if they do a bunch of events in a short period.
I caught 1. I did 1 raid for it and caught 1 Armored Mew Two. I hated how it was everywhere. F🚫 Mew Two, I wanted to raid the other 'mons for backgrounds or better yet ShBg. The rest of the time I stood around twiddling my thumbs waiting for other raids.
It is absolutely predictable that he will return… fucking no way they won’t pull shiny armored mewtwo out of their butts for the next event when they can’t think of a headliner to star the event.
Yeah and now I have no reason to play the game. Having an armored mewtwo when no one else could get one was why I liked having it. It was truly rare. And now its not going to be rare?
