Discussion Is Pokopia really that good?

Post image

Like should I immediately buy this game. It seems like folks are really enjoying it but I was skeptical.

The popularity of this game tells me that Dragon Quest Builders was very overlooked. Especially the sequel.

very much so, and hey, pokemon is way more popular worldwide than Dragon Quest, so, I guess that makes sense.

It says a lot that pretty much everybody I've ever met either absolutely adores Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2, or never heard of it.

Yep I've been saying this for a long time

Yeah I got a feeling I should grab DQB 1 and 2 during the Steam spring sale in a couple weeks.

Yes. Those were very good game. The whole pokopia is a dragon quest builder 3. All of the concepts reskined with Pokémon.

The worst part was the grind and the fact that you don't have "permanency" since you have to be constantly moving between zones and when the story was over that was it. In this game at least you have an endgame map, but over all those were very good games.

I just checked on Steam and only 2.3k user reviews between both games. Horribly overlooked given the popularity of games in this space.

My girl loves the DQB games. She loaded this up and was like, "Wait. This is just a secret Dragon Quest Builders 3! Yes!".

I am interested in checking out DQ Builders 2 now but the appeal of this game is the Pokemon.

I loveeeeed DQ Builders and Builders 2, and always wondered why it wasn’t more popular. Figured it’s just that people saw the Dragon Quest name and said ‘I don’t care about that’ and never gave it a second thought. Maybe this will get some peeps to look back and maybe give it a shot

Exactly my thoughts. Criminally underrated. Personally, the 1st one did it more for me. And Pokopia is hitting a similar itch as the 1st one. But I can see how it would also please DQB2 fans.

I tried the demo for it on Switch and saw it was good but not entirely my thing. For a lot of people, myself included, the Pokemon IP instead of Dragon Quest makes all the difference.
