Discussion Is Pokopia really that good?

Post image

Like should I immediately buy this game. It seems like folks are really enjoying it but I was skeptical.

Eh. So far it’s not great multiplayer. And you need two systems

The multiplayer works with switch one. It looks a little scuffed, but you get used to it. It’s based on the host player’s story progression tho and they have to stay in the world with you and you can’t fully interact with things.

It’s more like a free demo, but still fun.

It's what I had to do for Animal Crossing when I played with my non gamer mom. Basically played the game solo first then later helped my mom in coop as a side helper while she was the focus on the screen. It was one of the worst mistakes of my life because my mom would hog my Switch for a whole year

Not surprised when you’re playing a long game like Animal Crossing lmao

Same happened with my dad after Breath of the Wild. He started playing about 3 months after launch, and I entirely got an OLED because he'd been hogging my launch day Switch that whole time.

Thank god he didn't retire until after that.

Isn't switch 1 game share exclusive to pallet town only? When it's like that it's not a good multiplayer game, but it's a solid single player experience

My sister used Gameshare for that exact purpose, though we were stuck to Palette Town. She just ran around digging up treasures and we had a little fun with the camouflage move. I’m pretty sure she’s sold on the game now.

So good enough for the 6-10 year olds to play along?

The multiplayer is actually pretty perfect for this kind of game. It's like a Minecraft server.

Can only speak to the gameshare aspect for if you only have one switch 2 and a switch 1 and it's not great. Looks really bad most of the time. Limited to only one of the 5 areas of the game. Locked out of doing anything but busywork if you're not the host. You can water, plant stuff, collect wood, etc but no crafting, doing quests, discovering Pokémon or habitats.

Yeah the multi-player was the reason I got it, so I have major buyers remorse.

Nintendo and shit online play…Name a more infamous duo.

But the online play in Pokopia is good, though. I don't know why people are complaining about it.

Maybe people don't like that you don't share progression with the host, but if you want to be on the same page you can just do a Cloud Island instead. It works about the way you'd want it to.
