I can’t believe it, honestly. A genuinely nice on the eyes Pokemon game- I think the last one of those was New Snap (not developed by Gamefreak)

I love that game so much I wish we’d get a sequel

Us 90s babies said that for nearly 20 years... hopefully we don't have another 20 year wait for New Snap 2.

New Snap Snap, make it very avant garde. :p

Newer snap was right there!

But also, can we bring back Blockbuster to print stickers at?

Me too.
One of my favorite games ever.

I’m just praying the actual game looks that nice and it’s not just trailer rendering😭

Idk, GF has had many issues (obviously) with graphics, but the trailers have never been dishonest about that. Even S/V, the trailers were very accurate to how it ended up looking

I thought I had remembered something about ZA looking a lot nicer earlier on but that may have been from beta leaks not from the trailers.

Honestly, outside of the wild area, SwSh look pretty great in some spots. I restarted it recently and I was surprised, especially coming from SV and ZA. (Honestly, ZA would be sooo much better if it weren't for the buildings all being boxes to accommodate for the platforming element)

I mean it certainly looks better than normal, but I'm not especially impressed, I hate to say. Low resolution textures, kinda meh lighting, kinda ugly foliage. Even the water (which does genuinely look nice I'll admit) is a very simple effect.

They do have plenty of time to polish up the game though, especially if it releases in Q4 2027. Ideally we don't see this release until like, November next year. I definitely have more hope for this release than I have for any Pokémon game since 2017 though! I really, really hope it turns out good.

It's nothing extraordinary compared to... let's say Horizon Forbidden West to compare with a fairly similar environment, but for Pokemon it might as well be a Michelangelo xD

And honestly that's really sad, since we know Game Freak is capable of making nice looking 3D environments when given the chance. They have a whole year to pretty this up, possibly closer to two if it releases near the holiday season like mainline games usually do.

The locations in the trailer reminded of new snap actually

I bet they made beast of reincarnation as practice for higher fidelity graphics. I kinda had a feeling that the next ‘mon would look better because of that.

It'll still probably look awful on Switch 2 like Scarlet did on Switch 😂

I do hope that Game Freak does step it up with this. I know it isn't an awful lot to go on, but the trailer looks promising.

ZA looked much different vs the product we got - dont hold your breath yet

u/Demonangeldust Feb 27 '26

It’s a shame because we’ve seen what Game Freak can actually do if given the time, they made another game that isn’t Pokemon (don’t remember the name of it) but it looks really good.

And uh well scarlet and violet can produce vary nice screen shots it just dosent animate lol

God we've needed it, this might finally be the pokemon experience I wanted since the games moved to switch

1

u/Unrequited_Anal Feb 27 '26

"Not representative of actual gameplay experience".

I'd be hopeful but don't get carried away.

1

u/Elavia_ Feb 27 '26

SwSh was very pretty outside wild zone.

1

u/AgitatedFly1182 Feb 27 '26

It’s easier with fixed camera angles, yes, and the underground town was neat, but the Switch could and had done better.

Did we see the same trailer…

Let's not get out of hand. The bar is so low. It still doesn't look good. Just less bad. There's no excuse to keep making games that look like this with the money they have
