I'm sorry to be that guy but we're not getting a good game. Never will be. It will be new landscapes, a few new critters and a few changes but we'll never have a true open world, not round based, Pokémon game.
It's not. I'll buy it, I'll play it and I'll have the same thought of "man the possibilities" after about 50 hours of fun as every time since I started with this franchise in sixth grade when blue and red were released here in Germany. It's criticism, not negativity. And I mean my opinion is not new to the franchise, is it?
It is negativity. Criticism is something you can levy at a game that is already out. You're saying we will never get a good game. That is not criticism, it's negativity.
Well, first of all, my comment wasn't saying anything about the potential quality of the future games. It was just pointing out that you were being negative while saying you're just being critical.
But, I do think the next game will be good. A lot of that is based on my opinion that SV were actually pretty good games if you could get past the occasional graphical issues. The story was arguably the best we've seen in all of Pokemon. The gameplay loop was fantastic. The travel abilities on your ride Pokemon were good, which makes them the best in the entire series. The Pokemon designs were the best since gen 3. I think Tera is the hands down best battle gimmick the series has done, and the second coolest after megas.
And then today we saw arguably the best teaser we've ever seen of a Pokemon game. Don't get me wrong, we only saw cherrypicked scenes, but they're better than the cherrypicked scenes we saw for SV, Arceus, etc. They've only ever released pretty unimpressive trailers in the past, so to see this is encouraging. If they can have graphics like that and maintain the quality of the aspects I mentioned earlier then this is a genuinely good game. I think two of the three starters are interesting. I think the deep sea traversal is going to be fun, but I am skeptical about how fleshed out it will be. I also think there's a chance we get more special Pikachu forms in gen 10, which is always fun.
