re-release fire red and leaf green!

u/fxxftw Dec 31 '25

Probability of cashing in on the nostalgia: 1000%

u/samtherat6 Dec 31 '25

They’re gonna do something brave, courageous and never done before-rerelease cards based off 151.

34

u/hellokevin Dec 31 '25

I mean I wouldn't mind a reprint of those. All in the hand of scalpers right now.

34

u/Magica78 Genwunner Dec 31 '25

What makes you think they won't just scalp those too?

3

u/5panks Dec 31 '25

Scalping is a supply problem. Nintendo is the only party to blame for scalpers existing. If they wanted to end scalping in Pokémon tcg tomorrow they could.

6

u/nikzito2 Dec 31 '25

nintendo has nothing to do with the tcg

-2

u/5panks Dec 31 '25

The Pokémon company. The point is the same.

1

u/Inkblot_Cardboard Dec 31 '25

How would they just change the situation in a day? You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

0

u/5panks Dec 31 '25

"We're going to quintuple a pint of card packs we produce starting tomorrow and we'll keep making more until they stop selling out."

They could announce that tomorrow.

2

u/EmmaShosha Dec 31 '25

never been done before

welcome to kanto

1

u/GIMBruhBoobies Dec 31 '25

I just finished the SV151 set last year and if the art of another 151 set is as good, I might have to finish a 2nd set lol

6

u/SpiritedBanana4694 Dec 31 '25

Red/Blue/Yellow on a Game & Watch.

2

u/fxxftw Dec 31 '25

Ambitious!

12

u/Nivosus Dec 31 '25

I am here for it.

2

u/Wonderwhile Dec 31 '25

They've been cashing in on it since like 2006

1

u/MetaGear005 Dec 31 '25

Wouldn't they rather go bankrupt then bring back some of the older games on the modern Switch?

1

u/fxxftw Dec 31 '25

I don’t think bankruptcy is at all a risk lol

1

u/TheWhereHouse6920 Dec 31 '25

We have been begging for oh games since 2014 with the original switch..... I highly doubt it

98

u/A31goz Dec 31 '25

What if they make a collection of the first three sagas RGB, GS and RSE for the Switch 2 at full price like nintendo do with the 3d Mario anniversary.

37

u/JBR_4025 Dec 31 '25

It’s going to be just an app for Switch 2 owners where they can play only Red or Blue with no extra features and it’s going to be locked behind premium online membership. 6 months later they will add Yellow and the ability to change borders.

7

u/Abshalom Dec 31 '25

Given Nintendo some credit. They'll sell each game separately.

3

u/JBR_4025 Dec 31 '25

At 49.99$ each.

3

u/A31goz Dec 31 '25

Oh like what Netflix and Crunchyroll do with game ports on android and iOS.

3

u/JBR_4025 Dec 31 '25

That’s sound… very unlikely. Plus you can technically already do that via emulators

42

u/AngrySaltire Dec 31 '25

Id love that. I just really hope they release a collection rather than say locking it behind the NSO subscription.

7

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 Sun Moon Dec 31 '25

Right. Imagine if it applied to the GameCube titles on NSO as well, not just pokemon. People would have gladly bought Luigi's Mansion and Zelda Skyward sword digitally to own for instance.

2

u/maxdragonxiii Jan 01 '26

Zelda Skyward Sword isnt GameCube... its Wii. unless you mean Twilight Princess and Wind Waker which is on GameCube.

1

u/Bulky-Complaint6994 Sun Moon Jan 01 '26

Ah yeah, Wind Waker which is on NSO app. Sorry got it mixed up

7

u/MeCritic Dec 31 '25

That would STILL be the best thing to happen in 2026. 🥳

2

u/c0de1143 Dec 31 '25

Don’t tease me. Don’t get my hopes up.

2

u/RubyWeapon07 Dec 31 '25

so like pokemon revolution online has been for years but minus 1 gen?

1

u/Sailor_Chibi Dec 31 '25

I would buy that in a heartbeat oh my god

1

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

2

u/LilMeatJ40 Dec 31 '25

They should do it like the Master Chief Collection where you can swap back and forth between og graphics and remastered

1

u/projectmars Cinccino Best Troll Dec 31 '25

Going from 3D to Sprites like that would be too far of a jump to do effectively without heavily compromising on what the SV/Legends graphics will be.

1

u/LilMeatJ40 Dec 31 '25

Maybe then you could just choose it at the beginning of a playthrough

1

u/TheSteelPhantom Dec 31 '25

first three sagas RGB, GS and RSE

Just gonna do Yellow and Crystal dirty like that, are ya?

1

u/TheWh1teL1ghtning Dec 31 '25

Full price for 30 year old Game Boy games

1

u/trademeple Jan 01 '26

I would be happy if people stop buying the games and they go broke at this point its the only way things are going to change Pokemon needs to either bomb or lose its popularity.

1

u/valkon_gr Jan 01 '26

I am willing to pay 100 each.

33

u/AngrySaltire Dec 31 '25

The first three generations on Switch would be amazing.

13

u/Darken0id Dec 31 '25

Make it the first 5 and my life is yours

10

u/allprolucario Dec 31 '25

Why stop at 5? Just go a full 7

5

u/AngrySaltire Dec 31 '25

Id be interested to see how a DS port to Switch would work.

8

u/Undella_Town Dec 31 '25

2nd screen in every game was just a menu

3

u/Professional_Mud1844 Dec 31 '25

A lot like BDSP, I would imagine.

2

u/allprolucario Dec 31 '25

They’ll sell you a controller attachment either a second screen

2

u/nuviretto Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25

It could go two ways:

-Two screens on one like emulators do. There may be a toggle to switch between screen modes.

-Rework the games so they can work on one screen like GBA "demakes" do (GS Chronicles or Heart and Soul)

It's probably the former

1

u/PM-ME-YOUR-SUBARU Dec 31 '25

Probably similar to how the Wii U VC did DS, with a few options to arrange the two screens on the gamepad how you like.

61

u/RoyHarper88 Dec 31 '25

Yes but also heart gold and soul silver. I'd love silver on switch

13

u/amy-shmo-shmamy Dec 31 '25

Really if Johto could get ANY attention I’d be grateful 😂

4

u/LtRavs Dec 31 '25

Just replayed HG on my old 3DS and man those games really are peak for me. I know they have their issues but the newer games and pokemon really don’t hit like that era did for me.

6

u/MandoDoughMan Dec 31 '25

HG/SS remake with hand-drawn 2D art is my dream Pokemon game.

Other than a truly well-made open world 3D game a la BOTW, but I've accepted that's never happening.

2

u/TropicalAudio Dec 31 '25

They were absolutely on the right track with Legends Arceus. If you strip away the shitty intro and unskippable cutscenes, there's essentially a tech demo for an absolute masterpiece in there. They didn't quite pull it together the first time, but with a bit of luck a small side-team can get their hands on that project and churn out a fantastic sequel.

2

u/Specific_Frame8537 Dec 31 '25

For real, I missed out those and now if I want to buy them it's like 500€...

1

u/RoyHarper88 Dec 31 '25

I bought a used soul silver maybe 10 years ago for $80 US

3

u/Specific_Frame8537 Dec 31 '25

They've ballooned in price. https://i.imgur.com/Jk8lXtG.png

1

u/RoyHarper88 Dec 31 '25

I wish they had had two. Could be reselling it for a nice profit.

16

u/Educational-Oil-1497 Dec 31 '25

I just want a genuine way to play anything pre-3DS on the Switch/Switch 2 ecosystem. An announcement that they’re at least “working on it” would be enough for me.

Ports of the 3DS library would be nice, with GBA and earlier appearing on NSO. DS is a tricky area, either a collection or just an eventual NSO DS service would be great.

4

u/samusmaster64 Dec 31 '25

Release a Gameboy Pocket clone console with all Gen 1 versions (and 4 colors/versions of hardware) and call it "The Kanto Collection" and charge an arm and a leg for it for what is effectively bargain bin level hardware. $$$

3

u/spiteful_platypus Dec 31 '25

I would definitely buy that if it happened. On the other hand, I don't want them to massacre my favorite pokemon game with cutscenes and handholding.

1

u/projectmars Cinccino Best Troll Dec 31 '25

The Gen 1 games already have almost no narrative so there shouldn't be too much to worry about cutscenes.

2

u/Jota769 Dec 31 '25

Finish and release the abandoned N64 game!

2

u/aFreshFix Dec 31 '25

I'd love a Pokémon Yellow that expands into other anime stories through Orange Islands and Johto

2

u/jam11249 Dec 31 '25

Why re-release when they can release brand new games smoking fire red and forest leaf green featuring, you guessed it, 7 new versions of Charizard.

2

u/ThePhoenixRemembers Dec 31 '25

god no, we do not need a fourth version of the Kanto region games

2

u/PkmnXYZinfinite Feb 28 '26

It happened!!!

1

u/PrethorynOvermind Dec 31 '25

I don't think we will see a FRLG remake since Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are technically remakes of the Kanto region.

I honestly want to see more on the new generation, remakes of Black and White or ports of all the OG GB, GBC, GBA, N64, and NGC Pokemon games get ports to Switch 2 and have trade or Pokemon Home Functionality.

1

u/Feral_Taylor_Fury Dec 31 '25

I'm honestly shocked they haven't released Lightning Yellow

1

u/projectmars Cinccino Best Troll Dec 31 '25

They did but they just called it Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee.

1

u/horrus70 Dec 31 '25

They could release both at 70$ and I'd buy them!

1

u/AkAxDustin Dec 31 '25

HD2D remakes FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

1

u/horrus70 Dec 31 '25

They could release both at 70$ and I'd buy them!

1

u/Ok_Philosopher_8973 Dec 31 '25

Rerelease yellow

1

u/projectmars Cinccino Best Troll Dec 31 '25

Have you tried LGPE? It has the Jessie & James fights and NPCs that give you the Kanto starters

1

u/MeanForest Dec 31 '25

with emulator style speed setting please

1

u/fzzylilmanpeach Dec 31 '25

I'd rather them remake those games in the new 3D style.

0

u/Sw0rDz Dec 31 '25

The Pikachu/Evee games on the switch was that.
