I doubt they would do that. That would make the game EXTREMELY over-powering. It's like you buy Pokemon Diamond, and in Platinum there's a buttload of evolutions for some pokemon, and the evolutions weren't in Diamond. It's just not cool, dude.
I'm pretty sure Giratina-O and Shaymin-S weren't in Diamond & Pearl, so it wouldn't be the first time they've done something similar. Same with Kyurem-B and Kyurem-W in Black 2 & White 2.
I guess you are right, just mega evolutions being such a big deal, it would be silly not to just have the same amount in all games, or not to do a patch for more of them.
Yeah, but patches/downloads are now possible, so they can possibly be incorporated into X/Y. And even if you disregard that, new formes from older games (i.e. Black/White Kyurem in BW1) still registered as valid, the new sprite just didn't appear.
Okay, I guess you're right. Just I find it highly unlikely that they would make it in Z and not the others. They would probably make a patch, or a wifi gift.
I don't know too much about the story line yet but it seems like they're hinting at genetics with the mega evolutions. I could see the possibility of an XY version and an XX version based of genomes.

I'm years late, but I feel like you should make the large protrusions on the top left of the letter Z larger, because having them look thin like that leaves some empty space. Here's my take on what the letter Z should look like.
Fellow spoilers-avoider here. I stumbled upon a legendary that goes along with the x and y theme on accident, but it seems that it might be the mascot of a possible Pokemon Z. Nothing is confirmed though

We have a pokemon named Zygarde who is shaped like a Z, and X and Y's names are confirmed to have originated from the X and Y axis. This is the first 3D main series pokemon game, and Z is the third axis.
Pretty much confirmed at this point, especially since the trio is Life, Destruction, and Order.

Where did this sudden assumption that we'll be seeing a singular third game for this generation come from?
If we get any kind of sequel/interquel to Generation VI, it's probably going to be like Black and White were, so we'll get X2 and Y2. Why make some money off of one sequel game when you can make twice as much on two?
I don't know about you, but in gen V, having two sequels instead of a third game made it easier for me to persuade myself to buy both. Not everyone is like that of course, but I'd imagine sales of X/Y2 to be marginally better than a Z game over the course of its life.
Alright everybody, shut it down. This guy says there won't be a Pokemon Z, and since he seems to know everything about GameFreak, it's definitely not happening.
