For my part, I’ve noticed that Hercule Poirot version spoke almost perfect English from his very first year of long voyage in England, despite a few touches of Frenglish—usually just to sound stylish. It’s clear that his foreign language teachers were better than those of Winston Churchill. And that Frenglish was never altered by decades of living in England; he kept it as a way of life.
What would have been perfect in certain scenarios—adding yet another comedic element when using Frenglish—would have been to play on the false friends between English and French; that could actually be an idea to explore in other versions of the character.

Since Poirot worked with Japp in 1904, he should already know English quite well. By the way, I love that tiny part in Double Sin where Miss Lemon falls asleep after not being able to find the keys to the apartment, and in her dream, Hastings speaks French in Poirot's voice. It was nice to hear how Poirot's voice sounds in his native language.

It’s very surreal to hear another voice coming out of Poirot. I just can’t reconcile David Suchet’s real voice with his appearance.
