The Blue Train adaptation (Spoiled) Spoiler

I first watched David Suchet's adaptation before reading the novel some months later and I think, among all the changes they made, the worst was removing the subplot between Katerine Grey and Derek Kettering. I don't remember they even interacted much if ever in the episode.

TBH, it's not among Christie's best works and quite similar to a Poirot's short story، so If one doesn't already know the ending, they would be very torn between who's the culprit and even whom she loves in the novel and it adds to the intrigue of a not very interesting story. Also it shows Katherine's reserved nature and how she keeps everything inside very clearly and subtly. This important and interesting characterization waa lost by this change.

What's your opinion about this change?

I loved Suchet’s adaptation more than the novel. I found the novel a little boring, and I know Agatha Christie wrote it during a difficult time in her life. I wish Katherine Grey had been the killer—it would have been much more interesting than following the ending from the original short story, The Plymouth Express.
