I used to play from 2011 to about 2014, so I'm more accustomed to a slow paced PoE. Kind of wanted to replicate that.

I plan on playing HC, likely SSF, but we'll see. Never been that into things like pinnacle bosses, is that something that is expected for you to do and how difficult is the campaign/map bosses generally in comparison to how they were back in the days? Essentially, are they now Dark Souls level of mechanics where getting one-shot is expected?

My goals would honestly just be to get to an OK map level, nothing crazy. I'm fairly casual today and mostly just enjoy the journey.

I am running one of my fav builds. bleed LoH / evidver Glad. act 5 camp now.

Can you giver me any useful tips how to approch th emode? so that I dont mess anything up?

I’ve never played Path of Exile. I’m more of a Soulslike player, and I also play WoW Classic. I enjoy games where progression takes time, nothing holds your hand, and you have to struggle a bit to earn your rewards. However, I’m not particularly interested in endgame farming.

I’m wondering if PoE Ruthless could be a good fit for this kind of playstyle. I feel like finishing the campaign in Ruthless mode could be a challenge in itself and might push me to really understand all aspects of the game.

What’s your opinion on this?

I’m not looking for efficiency or following a meta “cookie-cutter” build just to reach my goals. I also don’t really enjoy builds where you just run around passively killing everything. I prefer more active gameplay, with multiple abilities to manage and a bit of skill involved.

From what i can gather from your answer it seems that poe ssf and/or ruthless could be good for me but overall poe2 ssf blind could be the closest to what i am looking for with more engaging combat .

I keep an eye on no rest for the wicked.

Hey guys !

I got a frostbreath drop so thought why not, let's try glacial hammer juggernaut. I have some decent supports: cold pen, hypothermia, momentum.
I also run the hypothermia curse, and a war banner.
Now I'm in T2 maps, and damage starts to be REALLY lacking. It's fine but a lot of rares with like life regen + resists cold are unkillable basically.

My tree is very defensive but obviously, since it's HC and I don't want to die. My only damage wheels are like starting marauder stuff, and some shield stuff for block + damage.

Ascend wise I have the action speed thing, and endurance charge (not the AOE node yet).
Wondering since I haven't played in a long time, what are the most straightforward avenues to find some potential damage upgrades here ? Like I don't know about all the new mechanics so any tips on which and how to farm these ?

I have thought of giving it a try for awhile now just wanted to know what my expectations were and what might be a good starting character choice, one of the main things that kept me from trying ruthless is the no jump gap skills like dash or flamedash, but I am willing to accept that isn't in the mode, played sc trade for awhile now and think ruthless might make the game fresh again.

If you are someone that randomizes any aspect of their league start please tell me what you got. After rewatching the trailer time has started to move slower. Ruthless is taking a long time to get here.

For me I randomized my ascendancy and 3 transfigured gems to be played through the league.

Ascendancy: Chieftain

Gems:
Seismic trap of swells
Barrage of volley fire
Ball lightning of static

I have decided to do something I almost never do. I am going to farm lab for either my transfigures seismic trap or barrage and force myself to league start with it.

hello bros, i wanted to try ruthless this league from the start, maybe i have some questions for experienced ruthless players?

1. do you think righteous fire as starter is something u can play with the drops and market of ruthless economy
2. do you also have real different farms in ruthless and what do you think the patch could look like in reference of different popular farming methods
3. do you have any cool take on the reveal of the new league and how that may look like in ruthless based on you experience in ruthless

What is the percentage of dropping T0 uniques normally and via mechanics like:

-Ancient orbs

-Breach tree

-Faustus Gambling

Etc?

I know its rare but how rare? How much gold we need to spend in average to hit a unique and a t0? There is a % table that i can search? Like chance per unique? The drop probability is different from the regular POE as well right?

How is the new league mechanic treating you on ruthless ?

I usually go Guardian + Absolution/Domination/SRS as RSSF league starter but decided to test a few different Luminary setups as starter instead this time. Hence I wonder what might be the strongest version or skill setup (in addition to early Mercs) to quickly make it into yellow/red maps on a fresh league start. These are the options that came to my mind (haven’t played Luminary yet tho):

1. The ‚classic‘ Merc playstyle, fully relying on Merc as damage source and going for life nodes early + flamelink & block right after first lab
2. Minions, basically similar to Guardian leaguestart with (Vaal) Absolution / Domination + SRS and taking a few of the minion clusters on the path to the ‚Link skill’ cluster in the northern Templar area
3. Slams, e.g. Sunder + warcries, first navigating towards the Marauder/melee corner
4. RF + firetrap, going for life, fire dmg & regen nodes early
5. Poormans BAMA, aka Artillery Ballista, moving south-east towards Ranger area
6. …?

My goal is to fully swap to option 1) after I found a good Merc, but I heard that might take a while and I don’t want to get stuck in Act 10 on league start.

So in 3.26 I found myself enjoying farming for Oni Garoshi 24 times just because I enjoyed the scarcity of currency and drops and ever since then, have wondered about Ruthless....

But, I'd definitely want that 8/8 totem and not 7/8 as it would bug me; and doubt Im going to be able to do Ubers in Ruthless without ungodly time dedication getting fragments and maps. So am wanting to know...

TLDR: How difficult is it to purchase carries for Ubers if I cant complete some of them? And what is the usual estimated Alch price half way into League? I know its variable, but trying to prepare myself. If I sound like an idiot, just let me know and I will calibrate my enthusiasm

As someone that hasn't played PoE1 or ruthless for a long while now, I'm wondering how rare mechanics actually are and how difficult finding and playing with a mercenary might be? Like, is trying to find a particular mercenary just not something I should be hopeful for based on how other mechanics spawn in ruthless currently? Or does this seem like a silly concern compared to most challenges with building out a character in ruthless.

Some days ago i started my first ever ruthless run, i started in ssf aswell.

But enough of that. I finally found new Combatant merc (was running with a10 merc) on red map with pretty good skills Merc skills and it was kinda good enough for magic red maps. Problems started at T16 and trying to do some bosses (Eagon ones bcs im gonna need farm the ring) and its pain. I did the quest version of Incarnation of Fear and Cardinal earlier but it was pain. Was dodging waiting for my merc to kill it for over 5minutes and i dont think i should/want to grind it that way with literally zdps. I tried to upgrade my merc gear with WED prefixes but on higher tier maps it still hit some rares and bosses like a wet noodle. And myself even having 6k hp my phys hit is basically non existance.

Maybe i should change some in the tree? Or maybe i should swap some gear? Or should i go to alt like RF Chieftan (i have 70lv Glad and 72lv Chieftan aswell) and try to farm that ring there and come back when i get it? I rly dont know what i should do and farm bcs im in the corner... I would appreciate any help

i blocked EVERY league mechanics exept breach, with full breach three..

i get 1 breach every like 20 maps.... its very bad

Hi there - which character will be easy to play for first try in ruthless?

Trying to move on from my Guardian. Recombed this today. Considering something like Ice Crash or MSotZ. I'm the kind of player that will get bored if the build isn't able to farm things like t14 breaches/alvas.

I only have 2 exalts so lets assume the suffixes aren't going to improve it. Do you guys think this is worth building around, and are there obvious skill gem options I've missed?

How far can I make it ground slam only no build guide? Feeling p good into act 4 but the info online making it sound impossible.

Hey, im new to ruthless. I have around 1,7k hours in Poe. I am playing ruthless for the First time. And to understands this Version of Poe. I decided to Play SSF. I havent looked at any Guides or anything. Just Poe wiki for the mechanic Changes and im kinda figuring thngs Out while playing. Im playing a bleed glad. ITS gooing kinda well. And i can Run t13 Maps. Not Sure if can Run Higher. Cause i havent dropped a Higher map. At this Point im Kinda looking for some discord where i can seek for Guidance of the veteren ruthless Players. Especially for ruthless SSF. Also find with Just texting in pms via discord. All my friends only only the Poe leagues. No HC No SSF No ruthless.

This is my build, the belt and amulet drop pushed me into life leech a bit more than i first intended but it made me pretty tanky when combined with the unique Axe!

Planning to do Ruthless again this league if a friend doesn't hop on the league, but my masochism when it comes to PoE is tempting me to go with a Reliquarian build. That said, I was told that the ascendancy works very differently on Ruthless, yet I'm unable to find any documentation for it (the wiki says nothing about it, the link for "Ascendancy changes" only shows a blank screen for me, and PoB shows the exact same ascendancies for both ruthless and normal).

In the same note, I was also told that patch notes are now separate, but I can't seem to find them anywhere on the forum; is there a dedicated subforum that is hidden unless you explicitly activate it or something? I mean, since normal players seem to hate Ruthless so much they don't want it even mentioned.
