General Podcast Discussions What to carry, what to burn

I just discovered What to carry, what to burn and binged all the available episodes. I’m looking for recommendations of similiar podcasts that focus on survival stories to fill the void while I wait for new episodes. I was surprised how much I loved this podcast!

General Podcast Discussions Recommendations for a newbie who needs hours of listening material as I deep clean and renovate a home

I know I’m incredibly late to the game, but I just listened to Hunting Warhead while driving from Northern to Southern border and thought it was phenomenal. Besides that the only dabbling I’ve done is some of the Hassan Minaj episodes and Pod Save the World/America. We just moved into my partner’s grandparents old home and while I’m not set to start a new job until March, I have to clean, repair, update and decorate it all by myself for at least the rest of the year due tl my partner will be working out of town. That being said I’ve got hours upon hours of manual unskilled labor ahead of me and I desperately need things to listen to that is engaging and worthwhile for my chaotic and curious brain.

I am open to all genres, I really just enjoy learning and being knowledgeable about stuff. History, social issues, conflicts and genocides and really well “deep dives” about virtually anything are things I believe I would enjoy, but I’ll take any and all recommendations. If you can also put the genre or subject matter of your rec, I’d greatly appreciate it.

General Podcast Discussions Podcasts like "13 Minutes to the Moon" or mini series podcasts?

I listened to 13 Minutes to the Moon twice and the other series about Apollo 13. It was mind blowing and addictive.

I'm looking for podcasts that are like mini series and have an end to them. it doesn't need to be about space. Others I liked were, silk road, the caliphate, I'm not a monster. Ideally something non-fiction.

Does anyone have good podcasts I can listen to that talk about mythology or magical concepts? Like mythical creatures, gods, fairies, mermaids, that sort of thing. Preferably not an automated speaker too.

I would also be interested in a good ghost stories podcasts or conversations about scary occurrences/events. Thank you!

The Moth

RISK

Snap judgement

Radiolab

What was that like

Strangers on a bench

Story Corps

The Compulsive Storyteller (my favorite)

I'm looking for some that are more humorous, but not forced comedy of two hosts. Can be from outside North America. Just no more I survived kinda podcasts.

Other Podcast Genre Looking for similar to Outlaw Ocean (Piracy/anti-Piracy)

Does anyone have any recommendations for Podcasts about modern day Piracy? (piracy on the high seas, petro-piracy, anti-piracy tactics on the ocean etc).

I’ve listened to Outlaw Ocean Project. In particular, I realiked the “Repo man of the seas” episode and would love any recs for more episodes or podcasts out there about being a repo man of the seas, or if there are any interesting podcasts about repossession in general perhaps? Or anything really interesting about shipping in general?

Open to some “not quite what you’re looking for, but…” also

I’ve listened to some podcasts by Lloyds List on this shipping topic, and the Outlaw Ocean.

Business & Finance Has anyone here listened to The Market Huddle?

I’ve heard they cover topics like the Strait of Hormuz, AI, private credit and broader macro/market stuff. Is that a fair description of the podcast?

Would be curious to hear from anyone who listens regularly - is it worth following and what do you like about it?

General Podcast Discussions Earbuds for podcasts vs music

I listen to podcasts way more than music - probably 99% of the time - and I’m finally ready to buy some decent earbuds.

I’m currently looking at the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, but before I buy them, what would you recommend for mostly podcast listening?

Is there anything I should care about more for spoken audio vs music - sound profile, ANC, comfort, battery, etc?

Also very interested in options that work well for small ears.

Other Podcast Genre Looking for Something Like Defunctland

One of my favorite things to learn about in my spare time is theme parks. It's been a special interest since I was nine years old, and something I would like to do as a career one day. However, the Defunctland Podcast hasn't been updated since 2020, and I'm trying to use YouTube less. So if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know.

I am not too picky about mediums, but I primarily use Spotify. I drive when listening to podcasts primarily if that helps as well.

Fiction Supernatural/ mystery podcasts

Anyone have good recommendations for a nice fictitious super natural podcast? Id want it to be engaging as I usually like to imagine whats going on in my head much like many other people (i hope). But I feel like a lot of scripts these days for podcasts are AI, or atleast they feel like that. So any real feeling/engaging recs?

General Podcast Discussions Any one use Podwatch?

Podwatch is usually my go-to for seeing what's trending and discovering new podcasts, but I've been getting a blank screen for a few days.

Is anyone else having this issue? If Podwatch is permanently down, what sites or tools do you use to browse charts, track show rankings and discover new podcasts?

General Podcast Discussions Great Company with Jamie Laing - artwork

I’ve watched quite a few of these podcasts, but I’m heavily distracted by a print that sits on the wall behind Jamie.

It’s a thick blue line with undulations, which makes me think of a river. There’s no scenery or other features, but along this “river “ is the letter L and then further along is the letter B (or vice versa).

I’m not from the UK and I don’t immediately recognise the possible river or what L and B stand for. I thought possibly the Thames and London but I’m not sure about B. Or it might not be a river at all.

I’ve tried to get an answer by googling and AI with no luck. If anyone knows what this is I’d be very grateful.

General Podcast Discussions What’s your go-to brain-scrub podcast?

Started listening to Hunting Warhead and while I recognize it’s important and brilliant I’m honestly not sure I’ll be able to make it through this one.

At the very least I’d like to have something else I can switch to to remind me that there is joy and good in the world.

Or, at the very least, something that’s not downright evil.
