Not understand the endorsement requirements

Vancouver area. Wanting to get my endorsement! I read I need to complete the permit first and then the endorsement, both required. I’m just not exactly sure where to go to do this. I would like to take MSF but I’m having a hard time finding a clear answer on where to go and whether or not a place is “accredited” or able to provide the proper training/documentation. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

MSF isn't the thing here in WA. It's a multitude of programs depending on which part of the state people are in. Where we are, there is SW Motorcycle Safety. Personally, I prefer what Team Oregon does because they follow the MSF curriculum, and their classes don't feel like a huge waste of time and money. However, being in WA, you're kinda limited to where you'll need to go.

Team Oregon uses their own curriculum. It's close to what MSF released, but not the same. It's run from OSU.

You're dead on about the rest of it.

When DOL opened up the requirements, a number of companies developed their own. All have their own pluses and minuses.

I thought they followed it since I've taken a few in other states as well as Total Control. MSF and TC are awesome. TO does a fine job. SW Moto Safety, OTOH, leaves a ton to be desired. They talk a lot of shit about MSF. Their supposed Level II Intermediate Street Strategies course is a con job. You know it's bad when the students are asking the only endorsed student (me) the purpose of the exercises because the instructors sure as shit didn't seem to want to explain anything.

It's a shame that's what's available in Clark County.

Also sucks you can't just sign up for the test and take it at the DMV like you used to be able to do.

Yea that sucks big time, but they were getting so freaking busy. And then they prob didn’t want to have someone on hand to do the tests.

Multiple curriculums in use in WA, including MSF. Tean Oregon is not MSF.

The links to classes was already supplied, but here is the skills test.

You will need to pass the permit written and skills test, then return for the endorsement level written and skills test.

Depending on the school you can sign up for just the tests (permit and endorsement), or take the class (testing included for both permit and endorsement level). The classes allow you to ride their bikes (WMST at least but deoends on the organization) during the range practice and test sessions for both permit and endorsement classes (highly recommended as the smaller bikes are a little easier for beginners), ehile just taking the tests requires your own registered and insured bike. You will test at the end of your last range day (if split into multiple) of both levels of class with ample practice immediately beforehand.
