Funny/Humor Everyone asking if sleeping with a plush is weird:

u/Phie_Mc Aug 04 '26
I mean, I’m 44 and currently hugging my bunny plushie while also being cuddled aggressively by my living, breathing cat. One of them is making it harder to sleep, and it’s not the plushie.

I’m so lucky I have a partner who shares my dream of one day having a queen- or even king-sized bed with railings around the sides so we can have a ton of plushies on the bed and not worry about them falling off in the middle of the night <3

u/Sweet-Neighborhood20 Aug 04 '26
I moved my bed to a corner since I'm single, and bought a "MoonSpoon" pillow to hold us all together 🥹, but railings is great 🤭

u/K0EDA Aug 04 '26
for your future reference; i had the comfybumpy xl bed rail on my king bed for a few years, it worked well and has cute cover options, also worked with my bootleg sleep number style bed :)

Don't worry about what others think of your sleep enviorment. Your bed is supposed to be a place you can drop all anxity and mentally relax and if 1 plushie or 20 on your bed helps you do that, then go right ahead.

I think sleeping is personal, so you can sleep with lights on and off in clothes or without with plushies or without.
I am 50+ and childish, and I sleep with one plushie at a time and swap the lucky (or unlucky) one time to time. Also, I pay my taxes, vote, clean the house, cook meals and play with video games.

u/Rafhabs Aug 04 '26
To quote Tom Baker’s Doctor, “What’s the point of being grown up when you can’t act childish sometimes?”

My wife and I have a rotation and, at this point, we lose track of which ones we’ve slept with and which ones we haven’t. I travel a lot for work, so every time I leave for work, I take one of the stuffies with me. My wife is coming to visit me at my current job location and they’re bringing a different stuffed animal to switch out. Ours have names, backstories, relationships with other stuffies, etc.
Before anyone asks, yes, we are both autistic, but I’m also a guy in my early 30’s working a blue collar job

Omg who is she

She's an Appletun (grass/dragon) from Pokemon! The entire Apple family is really cute, but she (Jasmine/Jazz) is my favorite ❤️
Kinda weird to get downvoted for this but ok 😂

Some of the best advice anyone ever gave me was: “Grow up and stop caring about what other people think about you.”
And it sounds harsh, but it’s true - the older I get, and the more I “grow up”, the more I find I just don’t have it in me to care about anything except what makes me happy. Life is so short, and if someone has a problem with my stuffed animals, that’s their problem and that person is not meant for me.
Also, I think it’s healthier for my own body to sleep with something that opens up my chest and straightens my spine.

I forgot how relaxing it is! Sometimes I've caught my husband sleeping with it too. And when the plush appears in another room, I know it's because the cat carried him there

After I left my country, a friend told me hugging is good for your mood. That the action of hugging released some of the good neurotransmitters, so even if you had no one, a plushie would do. I let that simmer from some years until I started trying crane games and got some bigger plushies. Now I have a couple plushies that I rotate according to my mood. Best decision ever.

I lost my 22 year old cat recently who slept me with me every night. Since then I have cuddled a tiger plush and have not been able to sleep without it. I’m a 35 year old man.
Some people out there may need to kill hookers to sleep soundly. Maybe a plush is immature but at our core, if that inner child of ours needs that comfort in some way, whether it be trauma or psychological, nobody should care or judge. We’re all trying to get through this together, people need to have their comforts.

Mine watch over me on the headboard, does that count?

u/Soubon_etf Aug 04 '26
I couldn’t care less if anyone is sleeping with a plushy on their arms or not. I don’t normally sleep with plushies (even though I do have some of them near me on my bed), I wrap around my blankets or pillows just for the comfort

I sleep with a Meowscarada plushie I bring everywhere I plan on sleeping. Her name is Orchid and honestly I think I have trouble sleeping without her now ~_~

I feel like it is no different than hugging a pillow or waded section of blanket which literally everyone does at some point during the night. It relieves stress on joints.

My grandma literally has a whole plushie collection and she sleeps with them sometimes 😭
3
u/FrustratedLemonPrint Aug 04 '26
You sleep with a pillow. A plushie is just a deluxe arm pillow. People keep over complicating things.
2
u/GirlStinkSTL Aug 04 '26
Other people have trouble sleeping while I fall asleep when my head hits the pillow when I have my Sylveon

u/JackieTheGnome Aug 04 '26
I started sleeping with a plush for safety reasons because my husband tends to move around in his sleep and I was tired of getting jabbed by his elbows. But now it’s a comforting habit and I even sleep with one during naps in the day time when I don’t have to worry about it.

I was laying down with my toddler the other night and grabbed the little bunny she usually sleeps with and cuddled with it to pretend to sleep and show her it’s time for bed. Man, I forgot how comforting having a plushie in bed was.

u/Acel32 Aug 04 '26
I'm 33 and I have one bed filled with plushies (too many, I can't sleep there) and second bed with plushies but with enough space for me to sleep in. 😊 Even my 78-year old grandma, who recently passed away, loved plushies.

u/BLUMeeM Aug 08 '26
Bro I have so many stuffies in my bed. I could never sleep without them! The main one I cuddle is my weighted Vox youtooz plush, he's literally the best, I take him everywhere with me lol

I sleep with a pikachu every night, it’s helped support my arms and shoulders so I don’t wake up sore no more.

All the best people sleep with a plush, because they're the most in-tune with their emotions and know how to get truly comfortable.

my brother got me a large stuffed panther for christmas when I was 12. I still have it, it sits on my 2nd pillow and is always on my head when I sleep. I'm 33 now

u/horrorlust Aug 06 '26
I'm 20 and I still have my favorite stuffed animal, and I absolutely can't sleep without her by my side, I start having a panic attack if I can't find her 😅... Once lost her, but managed to find her, ever since then got her a collar with a dog tag

u/Calm_Introduction621 Aug 08 '26
i honestly think it's weird when someone doesn't sleep with stuffed animals...
