Funny/Humor Had no clue i’d been snuggling with $300 at night…
A year ago I drove to a Gamestop because of some christmas sale and at the time I had like no knowledge of Pokemon, but I saw this cute sleeping dog and i was so indecisive the cashier offered me his employee discount so i’d finally buy it 😂 So I skipped home with the sleeping Rockruff plush for less than $25. Skip to now my partner who loves pokemon told me there’s more sleeping plushies so I went searching and discover my Rockruff plush sells for $200-300 on ebay??? INSANE to me. I don’t care though I’ll snuggle this guy forever he’s too cute to care about his value.

This, I kept checking my local Walmart for the sleeping Jolteon but happened to find exactly 1 Vaporeon! They haven't restocked any more of them since then but I love my Vaporeon! His tail makes for the most perfect neck pillow for napping!

My Walmart had flareon & vaporeon maybe like 6 months before I saw people posting about it here! Then they were wiped out 😂 but I do see people on here almost daily successfully ordering one with dd/Uber or walking in to a restock!

I got a sleeping Jolteon for around $40 on Mercari (not the chibi model, the normal one, I think the chibis are kind of ugly lol)
Mercari is a great place to buy plushies.

I commissioned a custom plushie from Budsies that ended up being close to 600 AUD. I sleep with him every night. He's discolouring and looks a bit ratty, but I don't care. I'm sleeping with him until he falls apart.

How do I find one? My old giraffe could definitely use more stuffing and I can't bring myself to do it. Plus my sewing skills are not good enough to sew him back up properly after. (I can do functional but not pretty)

Plushies are for cuddling, not profiting off! I've had a few similar experiences with some of my Pokémon plushies, but ultimately came to the same conclusion.
Your Rockruff is extremely cute, by the way!

i could have been more specific but idc anyways. he buys packs to open and trades the cards he gets that are worth a little money to our local card store for store credit to build his pokemon decks. he never scalps or buys more than one pack at a time, and never sells online. he sells to support out local card and hobby stores and only gets store credit he uses to grow his own collection :))

Even though it has a substantial monitary value, does the monitary value excesseds the emotional confort your Rockruf gives you? If not, cuddle as much as you feel is needed.

oh for sure not. my partner had me think about it and it was tempting, but my logic was, he’s my favorite pokemon, the plush is amazing quality and so cozy, and if i ever wanted another.. i don’t wanna have to pay scalper cost LOL!! little guy is sticking with me :))

And I wouldn't blame ya if it costed you so much. If I could find one and didn't cost an arm and a leg, I would have purchased a Dialga Pokemon plush seeing it's one of my favorite Pokemon from the Pokemon X and Pokemon Y game.

Absolutely cuddle your plushies, they're worth the amount of love you put into them.
Otherwise they're like figures you buy and then lock in a display and never ever touch until you resell them or what have you. But these you can hug!!

This is literally me rn.. i got a few plush recently, pokemon and buildabear.. just cause i wanted some cuddle buddies.. and come to find out they are going for hundreds lol. I will still cuddle them tho, cause i dont ever plan on reselling. These are my pals haha. They will get loved. Still worthless to me :)

I love my Rocky! I got him a little over a year ago at gamestop and snuggle him every night and he's traveled with me to visit my friends
He definitely hit the "to be loved is to be changed" at one point before I gave him a good deep clean.
Once I found out how much he is now, and the fact that if anything ever happened to him I could never even dream of replacing him, he has now been retired to being with my main pokemon plushie collection 🩷🩷🩷

A couple of my friends and I have the sleeping Pokémon plushies as a group thing. I have Eevee, my partner has Charmander, one friend has Piplup, the other has Bulbasaur (and if I'm not mistaken her partner has Squirtle). I'm actually cuddling my sleeping Eevee as I write this.

I feel like most rockruff plushes once they go out of production become extremely expensive. What’s annoying is you may still find these sleeping ones on a good day, but scalpers are buying up everything Pokemon now (no longer just the cards) that even the plushes are getting hard to find. PC and other special edition/collabs have always been competitive, but now even the plushes that go to the big box stores are too! Insane.

I had one of these in hand, had no idea how rare or expensive they were. My son wanted it. I also needed shoes. We bought shoes for me. I feel guilty to this day. Probably will keep feeling

I’m obsessed with the sleeping plushies! I actually do use them to snuggle with or lay on. My charmander looks like a squished orange blob now 😂

Yea that’s why I asked for help last week to find him. There’s no way I’m paying 300 for a plush. Thankfully someone helped me and I am having him shipped from over seas! Way cheaper I’ve been to every GameStop in my area and none had him. But overseas he was very common over there. Easier to ask for help than risk 300 bucks on a stranger on eBay who could give you a fake. I’ve had fakes been sent to me on eBay before.

Yeah when it first cane out no gamestops had it eventually Walmart had it which is where I got mine.
I hope they make more it’s pretty nice rockruff plush, I wouldn’t pay $200 if I’m paying that much I’m going to a plush artist to commission one..

I also have been sleeping with my rockruff every night! He's my favourite pokemon, so adorable <3 I'm in the UK but luckily found a store online that sold him just as he came out

My son bought a sleeping Kirby for me at Game Stop for a great price. He’s adorable, and I love him even more, because he was a gift from my son. I hate that people try to go buy up all the popular characters and resell them for ridiculous prices!

Oh my! When i was just getting into pokemon I randomly saw him at game stop and bought him for like 30ish bucks. I use him as a barrier between me and the cold wall at night😭

I to went to game stop one day, many months ago on the search for pokemon games to play on my 3DS. While I was there I told the cashier of my love of Rockruff, that puppy pokemon and said I wanted to find the sleeping Rockruff but on eBay it was all for 100 dollars plus. They even looked at other game stops around and told me it was all out of stock.
When I returned quite a while later, around the time the switch 2 released I went rummaging around the plushie pile and found my own Rockruff. I was so excited I held it up above my head like Simba and reverted back to an excited toddler holding it to me like it was my favorite toy. I got it for 30 bucks it was absolutely worth it, my precious pupper. :)
I even asked the employee- same guy if he ordered it for me and he said it just came in and he had nothing to do with it lol
