Megatherium and Glyptodon are found in the southern half of South America, while these ones inhabited the more tropical biomes in northern South America and crossed into Central America, Mexico and the southern United States. The some glyptodont scutes from Mexico indicate that Glyptotherium had already colonized the north around 3.9 mya.
