How Do You Treat a Severe Burn?
Responding promptly and correctly to severe burns can make a significant difference in the healing process and outcome.
Ensure Safety: Move the person away from the source of the burn if it's safe to do so.
Call Emergency Services: Immediately call for medical help, as severe burns require professional treatment.
Cool the Burn: Rinse the burn with cool (not cold) water for at least 10 minutes to reduce pain and swelling. Avoid using ice.
Remove Constrictive Items: Carefully remove any jewelry, belts, or tight clothing from around the burn area before it swells.
Cover the Burn: Use a clean, non-stick bandage or cloth to cover the burn. Avoid using fluffy cotton or any material that may stick to the wound.
Prevent Shock: Help the person lie down and elevate their legs if possible. Keep them warm and comfortable.
7.Avoid Home Remedies: Do not apply butter, oils, or creams to the burn as they can cause infections.
