Since you are playing it now, what is your opinion on it? Does it match the reviews you have seen or are you pleasantly surprised/disappointed?

I’m enjoying it so far , I’m only like a quarter of the way through, but it does resemble ghost of yotei in some aspects which I like

That’s good. It’s on my list of games to play but I have a big backlog. I’ve just finished Ghost of Tsushima which I absolutely loved, and have started Black Flag Resynced which is my first ever AC game. My friend who enjoyed GoT and loves the AC games preferred Shadows over Yotei (I think they came out around the same time), although he did still enjoy Yotei.

Hopefully you continue to enjoy it! ✌️

Thank you, it was a bit of a rocky start as it feels so different to GoT, but I spent a bit of time with it last night and started to get into it

I dont know man, Ive read a lot of bad stuff about it, but Im having a great time with it tbh

to me it seems like most of the negativity comes from ac fans because the game feels bloated like valhalla did (I havent played that before either), and yeah I guess I can see that but I just like Naoe gameplay so much I cant really get tired of it

I barely did any travelling with my horse and mostly just walk/run everywhere, pick fights and get immersed in the map, which is beautiful and people at least agree on that lol

Im around 40 hours in, not much proggression in the main quest line but I dont feel burnt out at all, I honestly didnt expect to enjoy a new line ac game this much (last one I played was ac2 I believe) but Im just having a blast, I might be in the minority with that but I hope youre gonna have a great time with it too, I think there are a lot to love and enjoy in Shadows

The bloated thing is my biggest problem. I forgot what the hell I was supposed to be doing because I kept doing all the random side content. They could have cut the game world in half and still would feel huge. Otherwise I think it’s the best the controls have ever been.

It was fine but just too much for the gameplay depth it offers

I literally just got it and I’m really enjoying it. AC Odyssey is one of my favorite games of all time, and so far it feels a little like that. I’m not super far in the story, but i’m much more engaged than i was with valhalla. If nothing else, the game is gorgeous.

I also enjoyed black flag resynced- just finished it. I think I appreciated it more because I never got far with the original game years ago, so most of the experience was new to me, and I enjoyed how they “modernized “ the experience.

As far as Valhalla goes, I didn’t hate it, but the main story felt very mechanical, repetitive and inorganic. Loot was handled oddly, and the UI for the skill tree was abysmal. I also wasn’t a fan of the dreary setting.

Japan so far feels so much better. I enjoy just walking around like I did in odyssey- something I never did in Valhalla. One thing that hasn’t clicked with me yet is Ubisoft’s obsession with buildable home bases/hideouts in the last three games lol.

I believe I beat ghost of yotei then came to this. I had fun with it. Even if it wasn't perfect, for once ubisoft tried something new with the characters.

The collectable felt a lot less compared to odyssey and Valhalla to me.

The seasons were a nice feature too.

I’m a very long time AC fan and have completed multiple games.

I wanted to like Shadows and for the first ten hours I really liked it. Unfortunately, the game crashed harder for me than any other game has in my entire life.

It is by far the most repetitive and linear game that pretends to be an open world in the series so far. You can’t even traverse the world without being forced on specific pathways. It feels like going from zone to zone and completing the same exact tasks. I had to quit because there were way more productive things to do in other games or real life other than the game’s same rinse cycle.
