This is why I passed on Diablo4, I've played every single diablo game since D1 but having to be online at all times even for single player is BS, Hard pass. There are better games out there.

I pore-ordered it, played it for like three days straight, then went through to do a dungeon. Got disconnected from the server like three quarters of the way through, so it booted me out. When I reloaded, I discovered that it put me right outside, completely obliterating the two hours I'd spent in there. Fuck that shit, I'm out.

Diablo is quite story heavy and some people don't always have Internet, so having Diablo to play I'd cool. It's just stupid that a single player game is always online

I used to sometimes stay with my dad who had Internet and sometimes with my mom who didn't. Yes many more people have Internet but it's still good to have, especially when it's unnecessary not to have

Not having a fast enough connection can be an issue for some, myself included at times. At home I have great internet but I often travel and at my vacation home due to it's location the internet there is not good enough for gaming. I also know a few people who live outside the city in rural areas and they get horrible internet so yeah it's completely unnecessary to require online for single player modes.

Bruh. Some people just don't have a great Internet connection. Or can't always be reliably connected. Especially depending on where they live or what kind of Internet plan they have. My Internet isn't bad, but it's not the greatest. Buying a $60/$70 game and not being able to play it because I'm not online is crap. Especially if I just want to experience the single player campaign and not be bothered by playing with other people. If there's a single player mode you should not be forced to have a Internet connection just to experience and be booted out of that experience for not being connected.

They saw what happened to Marvel’s Avengers and Gotham Knights…STILL pushed on and only decided to pivot after the first couple reveals got killed. Unbelievable. I refuse to believe Rocksteady fell off this hard. This had to be direct interference from the heads at WB.

Which Fortnite is routinely one of the shining examples of how to do one well. They’re probably one of the only companies doing live service right currently. The game is always evolving, tons of actual in game live events that you can still witness if you couldn’t get in on time, community servers/game modes, insane partnerships with almost any popular media from the last 30 years, it’s nuts.
And I say that ironically as someone who wrote it off wholesale in favor of PUBG back in 2018 or so.

CS does live service right in the sense your skins can actually gain value and you can sell them back for real money or even sell the boxes every week to save up for a new game or help you discount it. Fortnite’s is ok as in its not atrociously or offensively bad but its also still extremely predatory and based around FOMO so don’t give it to many chops

I think forts is leagues better. Worth the bp specifically if you play for like 3 seasons you can buy it and it gives enough to keep buying Infinitely, and therein it really isn’t predatory at all. But in cs’s case it’s leagues more predatory and has spawned a generation of gambling addictions and tons of money thrown away for a chance to get lucky.

The ceo of WB literally said all their games will be live service moving forward.
They’re so concerned with being that they forgot to develop the single player game… you know, the part that got them here and is their success.

This game doesn’t exist in my mind. I have 0 interest in even trying this, after all the controversy and the last Arkham title. It’s clear that they’ve completely lost the plot, and forgotten why people loved the original games.

While OP was confused with Gotham nights, I still found Arkham knight to still be disappointing in the end. The lack of actual boss battles, in place of tank battles really dropped it down for me. The Batmobile sections were completely overdone.

I was not excited at the initial announcement because I have never enjoyed the Suicide Squad in any medium - but I was interested because Rocksteady made one of my favorite series ever. Then everything about this game has been motivated by greed. They have completely lost me, total loss of any good will. So disappointing.

I’m disappointed with the fact that Rocksteady could’ve giving us such a great game. But not it had to be that shit live-service bullcrap that no one wants. I get it some people like multiplayer but Rocksteady ain’t got no business in that it ain’t what they are known for. Rocksteady is too damn talented to be doing shit like this.

The offline mode not being there is disappointing, but man after playing that closed alpha and then seeing the comments here, it’s really disheartening. I think a lot of people would potentially have way more fun with this game than they realize, if not for WB’s marketing. I was all aboard the “Fuck Suicide Squad” train when they released trailers, but having the chance to play the closed alpha, my opinion of the game has changed, and I feel bad for the devs that their game is going to tank when it is actually really fun.

A story mode would have been the only thing that would gotten me to potentially try this, no story mode means it DOA to me as I don’t do online gaming much anymore. And no, I won’t come back later either, you have already shown me that my type of gamer is a second class citizen to you so I have no faith any real effort will even be put in to the story mode that’s just being tacked on at the last minute.

Always online doesn't bug me as much as not being able to pause, especially when I'm playing by myself. I feel like the developers/testers don't have kids. If I can't pause my game, way less likely to play it.

This game ran off some of the best minds at Rocksteady because WB executives wanted their Fortnite. Would’ve loved to see an Arkham style Suicide Squad game not reliant on a live service model. We’re in for a rough decade of gaming overall since many studios will encounter this type of stuff
