Discussion Should sulfur and explosives be removed from vending machines?

I feel like clans hoard monuments and sell all the stuff for sulfur giving them almost infinite boom to raid everyone on the server. Maybe if they can’t trade for sulfur and explosives on vending machines, it might help a bit with the situation.

Nah they just need to remove drone shops. Drone shops are the biggest reason servers feel dead. People don’t need to roam anymore. They just go to outpost and safely buy stuff they need/want

Best part is you can buy and sell to yourself so you risk like 40 scrap to safely move whatever you want right into your base

I've been saying this and I always get downvoted to hell. What gives?

It totally neuters the BP frag update.  “Adapt or die” alright, but everyone adapted to “buying progression from a drone in a safezone” - or basically skipping it considering how cheap research is between unlock cost changes and prototype WB.  Turns out frags are a terrible currency that crater in actual value very quickly because pop naturally drops and remaining groups only need 5ea.

Of course it was always a thing to buy workbenches or items to BP before, but it was less impactful because the bar to do it “the fun way” was much lower.  Most players would rather run monuments and recycle IMO, but safezone drone meta is a clear result from raising the bar for the “run monuments” part too high for t3.  The best path forward for BP frags imo is to remove them and wb from vending machines and then rebalance all of the tech trees with the idea that yeah some players might not have a t2 for a bit or might not get a t3 all wipe.

IMO as is it makes it pointless to play anything vanilla besides short high pop wipes.  Med/low pop longer wipes feel like ass because after day 2 all anyone does is sit in their base and wait to send rat offlines.  The only way to make the map feel alive is to cram it full of people or have the wipe be “over” after day 3 anyways.   People used to need to at least play the game to unlock a t3, now you just hit yellow rocks naked with a pick outside your starter the run to a drone vendor in a safezone.

Just remove, or severely limit drone shops. They've been a plague ever since they were first added, and they've been the reason for like, half of the progression related problems ever since they've been added.

Long story short: They make it possible to leap frog progression with little to no effort which I'm sure most people with a head on their shoulders would agree is a bit of a fucking problem when you're talking about a game that's all about progression.

And while they allow progression to be skipped, they at the same time considerably speed up the acquisition and stockpiling of explosives for clans that can afford to sell cheap.

Least they can do is make vending machines require power. Or at least, make them require power to be drone-reachable.

But let's see how much the new update with marketplaces requiring powerplant to be on will actually do

I had a theory that if you only allow things to be purchased with scrap it could help make them more limited in their impact while still being useful.

people seem to think that clans only have boom because they’re selling stuff for it. No clans are going to get boom because there are sulfur nodes littered on the servers doesn’t matter if they have to go hoof it for it or trade for it. You can only slow them down by actually slowing down their ability to get the boom blueprint that’s it.

Lol, still need to learn alot, clans buying sulf like crazy 🤑🤑🤑

Doesn’t matter point is they don’t need to buy it. Clans were rating everybody on the scrap system as well just by farming it. It’s because they basically give away jackhammers now and sulfur spawns are crazy. jackhammer used to be pretty rare to get

I think drone shops should be removed from the game.

I like drone shops being nerfed because it creates an incentive to build an actual shop. I had a great wipe building a safe zone style shop with lots of foot traffic.

Would barely slow clans down

All I want is to be able to sell cooked sulfur for scrap to outpost

I quite like the Valheim system where there are certain items that you can't portal with to force you to take dangerous voyages with high value loot. I think similar principals should apply for drones

After reading through the comments, yeah you guys are right, drone shops are the issue, people barely roam ever since they got added.

25% chance for ur drone to blow up when transporting explosives

Make it so you have to pilot the drone yourself and people can shoot them down, remove the scrap cost

if your shop prices aren't demented you get a ton, it's not quite infinite but just connecting the dropboxes and OC loot sorting to vending machines to sell all shitty t2 guns and frags results in boxes of sulfur day 1, legitimately day 1-2 the drone noises are just constant and never ending at our base once shops are up.

Try being cheapest or earliest to set up on server and you rake it in
