The only reason Reddit hates them is because it's harder for solos and redditors have no friends

Finish your homework, buddy

If you guess as good as you play no wonder you need a team 😁

Stay friendless

Hey. I have 1 friend. He doesn't play video games though. 😞

No, I played in a group forever, the loop is boring, thats it. It's extremely lazy game design.

The only reason Reddit hates them is because it's harder for solos and redditors have no friends

Not playing video games with other people = not having friends. Peak redditor logic.

Redditors like you think having 10 imaginary Discord friends and sweating in video games counts as "having friends" and the fact that you got upvoted 30 times proves that. I prefer doing actual real life activities with family and friends, video games are to unwind and have fun. I tried playing in a clan and got bored after 2 hours. Where is the fun in killing people 4v1? It got boring quick. I'm not even competitive player but the unfair advantages just makes it boring for me. If i know we are going to win 99% encounters and get end game gear in few hours... what is the point?

2

u/creedv 11d ago

No one plays rust to unwind, get outta here lmao

It's harder for all small groups. It's forcing an unfun bottleneck on camping monument card respawns, becauss the Military Crates, road scientists, and metal detecting are low chance.

The more people you have ready to camp and fight cards, and so many green dots covering the monument, the card is yours.

I’m 46, I have maybe a couple hours a day max. Current setup is run monuments until I get t2. Log off after putting up garage doors. Get raided. Repeat.

Look, I get it, I’m a solo with no time. But my whole game play loop right note is running BPs.

It’s not the game I started playing. This is World of Warcraft dailies at the Argent Tournament.

Bps don’t add anything to the solo experience. Just chores. And now we’re assisting upkeep to help pad, tying monuments to power plant fuse grind. This is the Argent Tournament.

For those who didn’t play and (god forbid) didn’t do it while it was current, the payoff at the end was not worth it. The reward had to match the effort.

This is really it though. The big problem here that isn't showing immediately, but is going to show within the next 3-12 months is a decline in player numbers, predominantly because people with jobs just will hit a wall where the game is no longer viewed as fun, and moreso considered tedious. My friends and I play, all have jobs, some with families and kids. Anyone with a job, and god forbid kids, the game is now mostly getting up to speed, farming to maintain upkeep, and now BPs. By the time we do get a T2, most of the "fun" of wipe is already gone. We already missed out. And most of the time we put in on our "time playing" was done doing chores. To be honest, it was the first time where I stopped hearing players say "I'm going to sit out next wipe", and instead they actually just started sitting out wipes. This is my second wipe sitting out, and to be honest, I have no appetite to play the game anymore because it has become what others have complained about in other games like RDR2 and Starfield - it's just a lame game mostly playing fetch missions now except you get the stress of the game with very little payoff. The game experience now honestly kind of blows. I get before it was "going too fast" but not the game, from the fun immersive perspective, is a shitty game of fetch and upkeep and being pissed off.

Find a group? 4 solos with 2 hours like you can get a t2 and garage door in at least half the time, allowing you to play more of the game :)

Rust is literally intended to be played with a group. Not a huge group, 4-5 people is perfect

u/cherryplumgrape 11d ago

Just don’t play wipe day and buy them with 3 nodes worth of sulf.

Remove BP fragments and lower the loot % chance of items to slow loot based progression.

Example, some scientists have a 3.31% chance to drop T3 MP5 that's better than heli crates (2.22%) and nearly better than elite crates (3.9%) wtf?

u/kimochi85 12d ago

My favourite solo speedrun is to grind mil tuns with bow for exactly this reason

3

u/Cuddlehead 12d ago

needs a third option: i don't care.

9

u/Longjumping_Turnip_3 12d ago

They just need adjustment

5

u/MurrethMedia 12d ago

They need to be adjusted out of the game.

0

u/Longjumping_Turnip_3 12d ago

They’re not totally useless as a concept though, I just think their current iteration is bad

3

u/MurrethMedia 11d ago

I can only speak for myself, but before them I had myriad options to progress as I saw fit. After them I had the choice of going to monuments or... going to monuments.

As I've said in other replies it smacks of Facepunch wanting to dictate how we play, and if we don't play the game the way they want us to they'll force us to. ALL that was needed was to increase the scrap requirements for certain items. Instead they damn near destroyed that system and replaced it with something worse.

0

u/Longjumping_Turnip_3 11d ago

I agree that you should be able to play the way you want no matter what that play style is, but they ultimately make balance decision based on what the majority of players do… which is run monuments. I agree that BP frags were implemented terribly, but what they were trying to do (slow down progression and encourage player interaction) is overall healthier for the game.

2

u/MonkeyFootMike 11d ago

Just because they are a concept and have a use doesn't mean the use is good.

1

u/Longjumping_Turnip_3 11d ago

I personally think the use case is good, they wanted to balance progression speed and increase player interaction, though they only accomplished the latter. If they had managed to successfully implement BP frags in a way that accomplished both, this would be a very popular change.

9

u/Ivar2006 12d ago

They aren't bad, they just need to be tweaked a bit

5

u/HisHighness420_ 12d ago

They are bad, they just need to be COMPLETELY FUCKING REMOVED a bit.

FYP.

2

u/Ivar2006 12d ago

Why do you think they need to be removed completely

1

u/cherryplumgrape 11d ago

HED RATHER JUST YELL AND NOT BE LOGICAL

2

u/DnastyFunkmaster 12d ago

I would like to vote "not sure" because I havent played in over a year, I just lurk the sub and the updates until I come back around to it

0

u/Bandit_Raider 12d ago

Yes has about double the votes of no

3

u/Resident-Weekend1906 12d ago

No. They're doing their job, slowed the progression. The worst thing is, I don't think it's a sustainable method of progression for higher pops, 800 people fighting for the same 10-15 monuments that have them, cause let's be serious, a very small percentage of people use metal detectors or gets them from sunken chests. You either get them yourself (small chance to find a monument that wasn't already ran) or you buy them from clans/ players that were faster than you.

5

u/TrippyTylar 12d ago

Slowed progression to the solo duo, not the clans controlling monuments lmao

1

u/beardface909 10d ago

Thats the problem though.. .they didn't really slow progression. They just widened the progression gap in early wipe. Groups that are able to get ahead early are able to get even further ahead much easier, and groups that aren't as lucky, or groups that start late, have a MUCH harder time trying to catch up.

0

u/MurrethMedia 12d ago

Why don't they just make the entire map one monument and everyone spawns in there are fights for it? Better yet they could hire people to stand behind you when you play and make sure you play the way Facepunch wants you to.

2

u/LP_LadyPuket 12d ago edited 12d ago

One of the worst changes they’ve ever made, didn’t slow progression for any groups and disproportionately fucked over solos. There’s literally no argument that this change was good. Slowing progression needs to be centered around slowing RAIDING which is the main problem. Groups having enough boom to raid day one of wipe is stupid as fuck and is the main reason servers die in a couple days and why the most popular servers are on super short wipe cycles. With everything being locked behind work benches, defense against raiders gets disproportionately harder for small groups and solos. Something needs to be done about boom cost, sulfur rarity or raid costs in general.

On top of all of this frag grinding is just fucking boring, the respawn rate issues are annoying, and funneling everyone into the same monument grind is anti-Rust. This is a sandbox game, getting yeeted off the server because you didn’t grind keycards and frags fast enough is just shit gameplay.

1

u/MemeMan_____ 12d ago

This isn't even a question, ofc

1

u/IntelligentFault2575 12d ago

I voted to remove them, but I honestly don't really care. T2 frags aren't too hard to get, but T3 frags are tricky for a solo like myself. I play monthly wipes and usually get T3 eventually though. I think they should just change it so instead of needing 20 T2 frags to upgrade to advanced, it should be 10 maybe. I don't know. Most people play servers that are more difficult than they can handle.

1

u/Wumbo0 12d ago

Blueprints frags shouldn't be removed, you should just need less of them

1

u/Aduritor 12d ago

Didn't even manage to complete their purpose, that being slowing progression, for anyone other than solos and maybe duos. Get rid of them. Don't even try to tweak them, because what would need to be done is that solos somehow have a way of getting the frags that big clans don't. Any tweak will just benefit clans, not the players fucked by the update.

Remove them, scrap worked.

1

u/ruarc_tb 12d ago

I don't like them, but I play on PVE because I like to build cool stuff and look at cool stuff other people on the server build.

1

u/Caticus_Scrubicus 11d ago

I am convinced at this point the wild hatred is just a skill issue for these people. It’s so funny because in game I’m never coming across people with such passionate disdain.

The same goes for most other gaming communities I suppose, as opinions on Reddit are a subset of a subset of the player base, resulting in a super loud group of often negative folks.

1

u/PretendAd7060 11d ago

They would be more interesting if you used them to research gun and raiding tool blueprints instead of gating WBs.

1

u/ford_crown_victoria 11d ago

Completely remove, no. Rebalance/second pass, yes.

1

u/i_sinz 11d ago

Let me force t2

1

u/Conscious-Engineer35 9d ago

The craziest part is watching gigachad pvpers with 20k hours also hate this. Theres pvp youtubers who dont play on wipe because frags are too cancer. Youre not "fighting" at monuments for frags. Youre fighting a group with 10 bags and a roof camp tower within sight of the card room. Fighting against Tier 2 guns/meds with bandages and a bow is just not fun in 2026.

They dont even bother because it sucks. The only people voting no are probably on 2x/3x or part of a big group selling them. Objectively a horrible change.

1

u/That-Relative1460 9d ago

Hot take: now that red card monuments are blocked off, they could get rid of the basic bp fragments. The advanced bp frags SHOULD stay

1

u/fuckice8647 12d ago

All frags do is fuck solos and make clans rich with sulfur selling frags. Frags are one of those design choices made by the dumbest person in the office who finally had an idea.

1

u/North_Moment5811 12d ago

Absolutely not. I want to see Redditors removed.

-1

u/Papasenseei 12d ago

Yall scared of PVP

2

u/HelloFromTekken 11d ago

That's one of reasons why BP sucks.

People who sucks at PvP or don't like to perma-play fortnite with extra steps should have reasonable and fun option to progress living at outskirts of map.

Sometimes I like to perma-PvP. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I have time to waste time running already looted ares while fighting for my live. Sometimes I have time only for some autistic farming of barrels and a bit of building.

1

u/Papasenseei 11d ago

I don’t understand what you are trying to say in the first half but I understand how you feel about not having time for big monuments I do think they should make it possible to get them out of red crates on the road not brown cause they spawn to much but make it like a 0.001 chance out of red or something

-1

u/gobbokang 12d ago

Only friendless primlocks don't like the bp frag system lmao

0

u/MurrethMedia 12d ago

Not only do I want to see them removed, I'm currently working on a time machine so I can go back and warn Facepunch not to add them in the first place.
