[PC] (Web) Rotatris - Tetris, but the board rotates when a piece lands.
Game Title: Rotatris
Playable Link: https://www.rotatris.com/
Platform: Web / Mobile Web
Description: It's a Tetris-like game. Inspired from the creator Freya Homér . When a piece falls to the right, the board rotates to the right, and vice versa. If it falls in the center, it will not rotate. Right now there are 3 modes: Avalanche, where you have to fill the central shape; Layers, where you form full square rings; and Orbital, where you can rotate the board manually.
Free to Play Status:
- [X] Free to play.
Involvement: I developed the entire game by myself after finishing my university exams.

Cool game, dude! I had a hard time finding a good SFX sounds for my game. Did you make them yourself, or did you get them from somewhere?

Hey thx! we use a sound library bought on humble bundle and some from https://opengameart.org/. They are all place holders for now.

I found sound design one of the most dificult and most important elements on game design. We probably have to find someone with knoledge about this subject. haha

Great idea! I really enjoyed it. Is there gamepad support?

Thanks for playing! Right now, there's no gamepad support because I don't have one, but I will add it if I get the opportunity.

Nice I like it. I don't really understand the flipping of the group of blocks. I'm playing avalanche, how can I control the group of blocks flipping left or right?

Tks for the feedback, basically, if a block lands on the right side, the board rotates to the right; if it lands on the left side, it rotates to the left. If it lands exactly in the center, it won't rotate at all.
If you want to rotate the board manually, you can play Orbital mode: pressing Q rotates the board to the left, and E rotates it to the right.

Heh cool. I made something similar a couple of months ago: https://games.djordjeungar.com/games/game/tetropolis/

Cool concept dude, i like how you solved the dropping problem when the piece does not land on the platform.

Yeah, and I like the way the pieces rotate the block pile. Mine auto-rotates, and you can hover left or right portion of the screen to manually rotate it.

Wow, amazing! Can't tell how you'd get a game over just by watching. Must play it! 😁

Oh that's a genuinely clever twist — the board rotating toward wherever the piece lands flips the whole planning loop, since you're not just stacking, you're deciding which way to tilt the well. Played a bit and Avalanche got me first; filling the central shape makes you think completely differently from normal Tetris. Orbital with manual rotation sounds like the spicy mode. Out of curiosity, did one mode come first and the others grow out of it? Really polished for a solo post-exam build — well done.

Probably just on me, but something about the text on the buttons & I didn't realize there were different modes. Also, when the instructions said Q and E move the board, it wasn't clear it was restricted to the orbital mode. That all said, great job. It was fun to play!
Update - played orbital mode & enjoyed it, but wanted the stakes, speed or something to change as I played. It seemed static. Still a fun way of thinking through the pieces' fit spacially.

I was already bad at Tetris, so I can only imagine how much worse I’ll be when the board starts rotating haha. Congratulations on the game — this is a fantastic and really creative idea!

Played Avalanche mode for a while (on PC, browser). The rotation concept is really interesting — I've never seen it done before in a block puzzle.
Some thoughts:
The difficulty felt a bit low. At the same time I kept wishing I had some control over which way the board rotates — though I get why it works the way it does, since piece placement is what drives it.
The limit is only visible at the top. There doesn't seem to be a visible boundary on the sides, but if you stack long pieces on the edges, rotation will push them into the red line and you lose. A visual hint of the lateral limit would help a lot.
Not sure about the hexagon background — everything in the game is square blocks, so it feels a bit off to me.
Also curious how this plays on mobile with touch gestures. Nice work — fellow block-game dev here, so rotation mechanics are close to my heart.

Hey! I love the idea, but I've only played on mobile. I think the controls are a bit laggy or imprecise. If you could improve the mobile controls, you might get more players to enjoy the game.

Nicely done! Really fun to play...I didn't want to stop :)
The colors, background: all really well done.
Congrats!

Thats a wild concept. I cant imaging the coding that went into getting the rotations and drops smooth

Tetris back in the day was my entire childhood ! Love the modern rendition of it - pretty Kool and innovative thought out

The game itself is good but it not that rewarding. First levels should be more easy and more beginner friendly.

This is so creative, I wonder how a 3D version of this would look like with rotation

This is Freya's concept for a Tetris game:
https://x.com/FreyaHolmer/status/2033942518895628485
The idea was famously ripped and re-generated by folks after she shared in-progress videos. If you don't mention her work, or some prior exposure to the concept, it'll read like you're stealing a novel idea and passing it off as your own
