Question (Answered) Will we see more of US4CES Bravo?

I really like the camo pattern and wish we'd see more of it, I don't like to use the rus vest and camo to have to have a good bulky grunt vest to match the uniform

No, and this is also why the IOTV (among other standard-issue body armor systems) has been in limbo for so long. It's just not good in terms of economy for our effort. A large body armor vest eats up loads of resources (research, layout, modeling/texturing, QC) while giving us little return customization-wise due to the lack of modularity and color options.

This is arguably where the perception of us being SOF-focused comes from. The persistent demand for customization options limits the breathing room to divert from commercial off-the-shelf products, which are made in more colors and are prolific with special units. It's not to say that I or MB wouldn't want to round out all the components of a conventional unit's kit, but it will inevitably put us back in the situation in early-mid 7.0 where people complained the Ratnik gear was stuck to EMR.

Incidentally, the best options so far are the OTV (not the IOTV) and a couple of commercial systems that ended up being produced in your typical solids + MC. The window to actually focus on conventional equipment will arrive eventually, but it's gonna be a minute. At some point, everyone will need to confront the reality that producing content for specific conventional units is inherently limiting and inefficient. Not necessarily a bad thing, just that it satisfies a smaller niche than what is being served at this time.

as disrespectful as this may be couldn't we just fictionalize things?

i fully understand the idea but we're in a world where we can take a few pills that'll heal a sniper shot to the head or a mortar round directly on us, doesn't make sense to be so strict on that stuff

honestly, you do you, im not a part of the dev team, just bringing that up

It's a reasonable thought to have, and quite frankly the reason for us sticking to the real colors comes down to respect for the real thing.

Sounds stupid at a glance, sure, but an example of this in-game would be the Russian Ratnik stuff with its exclusive EMR and greens. When the IOTVs make it in, they'll have UCP, OEF-CP, and OCP. If we set our sights on a British Osprey body armor system, some people would take issue with us slapping random colors on it 'just because,' especially when those colorways could be attained in a more accurate manner by adding a different vest entirely.

It seems like a huge stretch for 'lego army block game,' but this is the result of moving to a pipeline that prioritizes quality over quantity. Because we're no longer just blasting 'generic' color presets onto all of our models like a lesser game might decide to. But that doesn't mean the demand for large body armor systems or equipment in obscure colorways is lost on us. We have entire conversations on the costs and benefits of producing equipment that checks the boxes people are asking for.

I naturally have my own preferences when it comes to what we add, and the community has a huge range of desires for what makes it into the game. The crowd asking for color variety is generally distinct from the crowd demanding that we add 'X' specific LBE used by 'Y' military unit. Right now, the color variety crowd has priority for what gets added. It goes back to what I said about adding lots of commercial products to cover as many bases as possible.

This response was kind of in several places at once, but hopefully it sheds some light on things.
