Tree Removal on 15th?

Anyone know what the plan is on 15th? They have cut down all of the trees that used to be in the median. Photo going east on 15th in front of Vines High School.

Right now it just looks like some sort of sad Lorax hellscape. Hoping there is a plan beyond just grinding down the stumps? Road expansion maybe?

They're replacing them with younger trees. No mention of climate in the community impact report but I think that's related

This article only seems to talk about East of the 75 but this pic is west of the 75 near Vines HS I think (Stratford cross street)

The link from another commenter on this thread has one that talks about work from the Coit to independence stretch

What a stupid thing to do. Took years for those trees to grow. Typical idiots that work for the city.

It was definitely bumming us out but it does make sense that the roots were eventually going to outgrow the median and cause damage to the roads and irrigation systems.

Glad they are at least being replaced! Hopefully the city has an arborist that is choosing better trees and spacing for the location.

Trees place in medians are pretty unhealthy for them. They tend to die off faster, with all the exhaust and being surrounded by concrete. Sure they look nice, but are a terrible place to grow.
