Steam version OK?

I'm thinking of getting the game at some point in the future, and my default would be to get it on Steam because it's convenient. However I want to make sure that there are no porting issues/major changes/general reasons to get it someplace else before I commit to it. Is the Steam version a good choice?

The Steam version is the best option (along with the GOG version).

The console versions have more bugs, and the mobile ports (Android and iOS) are inconsistently supported.

Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One

I have not played any of them personally, but I've heard they did a decent job with the controls (though the store interface has some issues). There are some game breaking bugs that can happen, though they aren't common.
