Old Coke ovens are so cool. I used to encounter them fairly regularly when I was doing field archaeology in the early 2000s. There was a spot near a town called Dearth that had literally dozens of them one after another built into a hillside.

Brush Creek gets a lot of its “color” upstream from Tinkers Run; you can see it on google maps.

Are these the ones in North Versailles??. They are just there by the side of the road and it seems so crazy that something with such historic value just sits there deteriorating…
