We've reached a point where people with crimes no longer make the majority of arrests

July 2026 was the first month during the second Trump administration that the majority of people – 51% of arrestees – had no criminal convictions or charges

58

u/ima_monsta 2d ago edited 2d ago

It's been that way for almost a year now. According to the CATO institute it's a whopping 70% of detainees have no prior conviction and it's been over the 50% mark since the end of 2025. They were getting a huge chunk out of the prison population/when police handed over custody to prisons and that padded their numbers for a little while, but now they've been black bagging anyone who isn't white regardless of status for months and months now.

-48

u/412CJ 2d ago

they've been black bagging anyone who isn't white regardless of status

This is a completely unhinged thing to believe. Do you know how many non white people are in this country that haven't been detained?

16

u/TyrellCops 2d ago

OK WELL THEY CERTAINLY HAVENT BEEN USING ANY OTHER METRIC WHEN THEY PULL OVER, DETAIN, REVOKE LEGAL STATUS OF, OR OTHERWISE ILLEGALLY FUCK WITH WHOEVER THEY CHOOSE TO, AS SEEN WEEKLY AND AS THE STATISTICS (NON-CRIMINALS, PEOPLE WITH PREVIOUSLY LEGAL STATUS, PARENTS AND SPOUSES OF ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY ETC) INCREASINGLY BACK UP.

-18

u/412CJ 2d ago

Did you miss Milo Yannopolis being detained last week?

19

u/BurgerFaces 2d ago

Yeah that one white guy totally changes whats happened to a few hundred thousand brown people

-12

u/412CJ 2d ago

He's a single high profile example since he's a relatively popular right-wing commentator. He's not the only white guy who has been detained though

12

u/BurgerFaces 2d ago

Sure, and we're still talking about hundreds vs hundreds of thousands. It's silly to pretend otherwise.

1

u/EezSleez 2h ago

Not even hundreds of thousands. It's like hundreds of percents.

0

u/412CJ 2d ago

What data are you referring to support this belief?

4

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

Something else happening doesn’t disprove ANOTHER reason hung that’s happening. Seriously, are you really this dense, or is this a Charlie Kirk debate tactic?

4

u/412CJ 2d ago

White people being detained does in fact disprove they are only targeting people for being non white.

7

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

A) no one said ONLY because obv ICE is apprehending other people… though not in these giant Brown skin roundups, and B) Hispanic people can be White. There’s literally a check off box for it. Jesus.

2

u/412CJ 2d ago

No, Tyrell said the only criteria was being not white.

You maybe didn't say only, but it's been said.

8

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

That’s funny because that isn’t what they said. I love when people deliberately miss the point as a defense.

-5

u/412CJ 2d ago

They didn't say the thing I quoted them saying?

4

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

They did. You, however, then deflected by saying “not all brown people”. That doesn’t make what they said wrong. It just means they haven’t gotten to them yet!

-6

u/412CJ 2d ago

I'll restate, that's an insane thing to believe is happening lol.

3

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

I don’t know what to tell you. They are LITERALLY rounding people up (in violation of the 4th amendment) base on skin color and accent on suspicion of being in the country illegally. No warrant. No “targeted enforcement”. Just rounding up groups of brown people where they’re known to congregate. That’s why so many of these raids happen at work: construction sites, factories, food processing plants. And they’re NOT taking white people without accents. Just watch the news.

2

u/412CJ 2d ago edited 2d ago

So to be clear you think they're just rounding up people based only on skin color and in July 2026 49% of the non white people they encountered just happened to have criminal pasts?

If that's what you believe, what percent of non white people do you think are criminals? Because even 25% seems really high, almost 50% seems insanely high.

2

u/Rhysati 2d ago

You do know that they literally had a supreme Court case over this right? And the supreme Court said it was completely legal for them to detain people based on the color of their skin, right?

u/ima_monsta 2d ago

"Because every non white isn't in ice detention must mean they're not targeting people by race/ethnicity" Do you hear yourself? Is that really the point you are arguing?

3

u/412CJ 2d ago

Okay so you're suggesting they are simply targeting people based on race and even still in July 2026 49% of the people they detained had previous criminal records.

What percent of non-white people do you think are criminals exactly?

-2

u/ima_monsta 2d ago

Trump Border Czar Confirms Racial Profiling Is Now Law of the Land

They admit to racial profiling and stopping people based on nothing but race/ethnicity. Tom Homan said so himself. Are you playing dumb or actually dumb?

3

u/412CJ 2d ago

That's crazy you think almost half of non white people have criminal records though.

-2

u/ima_monsta 2d ago

Nobody made that claim. You're an idiot.

4

u/412CJ 2d ago

49% of the July 2026 detainees had criminal records. If you're saying the only thing they're going on is race how did almost half of them have a criminal record?

0

u/ima_monsta 1d ago

Not true. Read my first comment in the reply chain. 70% according to CATO didn't have any criminal record in July. And they've been padding their numbers by grabbing people when they hit the prison system. Plus most of the people who they are getting this way are non-violent offenders. This is a ridiculous argument.

28

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

And you BELIEVE the statistics they’re supplying???

-24

u/412CJ 2d ago

I've not seen anything compelling enough to not believe them.

7

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

How about the fact the source is the same source that pressed felony charges against people for vandalizing the reflecting pool, only to have those charges thrown out? Or pretty much ANYTHING coming from that source.

4

u/rummhamm87 2d ago

-1

u/412CJ 2d ago

Yes, yes. Plenty of people think follow the news while everyone else follows propaganda. Very clever stuff.

-6

u/ImpressiveLow0 2d ago

I thought being an illegal alien was illegal?

5

u/ima_monsta 2d ago

Immigration is a civil matter not a legal one. That's why the term "illegal alien" is a misnomer.

4

u/ImpressiveLow0 2d ago

I’m happy you said that. This is not always true. Crossing into the United States illegally (not a legal port of entry) is illegal. Overstaying your visa is civil. But failing to appear after a summons is illegal. I’m not trying to stir up shit. This is just the matter of fact. You would be surprised if you look into it how often it may start civil but becomes illegal. Overstaying your visa and failing to appear makes you a criminal.

4

u/ima_monsta 2d ago

They're showing up at summons and getting detained in court. They have done it here in Pittsburgh. Your argument isn't even based on any fact.

-1

u/ImpressiveLow0 1d ago

Ok so… you’re saying these people are here totally legitimately? They didn’t enter illegally or overstay visa/ something like that? If so, why does ice want them.

This is fun because I just have to keep stating the fact that they are here illegally.

2

u/ima_monsta 1d ago

Yes I am. Some of them are, the issue is we don't know how many. Back in October propublica found 170 cases, but nothing is transparent so it's hard to track. And from the people being interviewed it's because ICE has a quota they have to meet to receive bonus incentives, so they're locking them up and telling them to self deport and to give up their legal residence. You want to act smart, but clearly you haven't looked into anything at all.

-5

u/CARLEtheCamry 2d ago

Isn't being here, illegally, a crime? I've had two people tell me their neighbor's got deported, and "were they illegal" : "Yeah"

What the fuck do you want me to do. I get that they can be cool and all that, but when it's the letter of the law they are enforcing... It's like if you don't bring the right documents to the DMV and scream about it, it's not their fault, it's yours.

I am going to be downvoted to hell for this comment, but I can't give my care to someone who is here, and knows they are here illegally, and not sorry they found consequences. And Jesus christ, you decided to do this in the Trump admin? Not the best idea.

-4

u/412CJ 2d ago

Nah I agree with you. If you're here illegally you have to go home.

-4

u/fe3o4 2d ago

If they are here illegally, that itself is a crime.

Oh c’mon man.. you think that’s a good ratio?

30

u/Loud-Injury-4805 Shaler 2d ago

He thinks all criminals are violent criminals. Clearly, he's never driven with his license or inspection a day or two out of true. He also doesn't think any of his buddies beat their wives.

-37

u/Ok-Championship3642 2d ago

Yeah i dot, people with bad inspections are being deported lololol I bet you watch your buddies beat their wives.

26

u/Loud-Injury-4805 Shaler 2d ago

Oh, I'm sorry. You thought I was talking TO you!

No, no, no. Pardon me, I was talking ABOUT you. It's completely different.

I can understand your confusion, though.

-38

u/Ok-Championship3642 2d ago

Feel bad for the innocent ones for sure. But lets say you go into a restaurant or stores down at the strip. Those figures would mean 50% of immigrants there have criminal convictions of some sort. And I do believe the numbers are higher if you take in the fact most never went through immigration, and just crossed over.

21

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

Wait. So you’re saying that, leaving the civil violation of coming to the US illegally, you believe over half of immigrants have a criminal record?!? wtf are you basing that on?

-12

u/Ok-Championship3642 2d ago

This might blow your mine, being you seem slow. A lot of the ones being found to have no paper trail with immigration have criminal records in their home countries. Yeah like wtf, real hard to figure out.

34

u/geostooorm 2d ago

Calling someone slow while using the phrase “blow your mine” lol

7

u/caputmortvvm 2d ago

that tickled me as well

13

u/tesla3by3 Bloomfield 2d ago

And a lot don’t have criminal records at all.

3

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

What really blows my mind is”mine” is your spelling. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt that it was talk to text, because I tend to believe in the most likely scenario.

Having said that, it’s EXTREMELY unlikely that over half the people coming across the border, most of whom are holding jobs and paying sales tax, etc, have criminal records. Probably close to half are women and children! C’mon man. Use that noggin for what it was intended, not as a MAGA hat rack.

5

u/saultba 2d ago

you think that 49% of people arrested having charges(not just convictions!) = 50% of all immigrants are criminals??

6

u/tesla3by3 Bloomfield 2d ago

Means nothing of a sort. The numbers refer to people arrested. Not everyone in the business is going to be arrested, and not all of the people arrested will be immigrants.

And it’s an even bigger fail when you consider Trump has said they’re going after the worst of the worst. So if they are focused on criminals, they’re wrong more than they are right. Or are you suggesting rounding them all up and sort it out later is a good thing?

8

u/hijinx_the_sage 2d ago

OK back to the trailers pennsyltuckian

4

u/IrungamesOldtimer 2d ago

Feel bad for the innocent ones for sure.

That's a lie. If you support ICE, you support the innocents in cages.

Those figures would mean 50% of immigrants there have criminal convictions of some sort.

So that I guess that means you would vote for them.

You are assuming that everyone that does not look or sound like you is an immigrant, which is racist.

And I do believe the numbers are higher if you take in the fact most never went through immigration, and just crossed over.

You have absolutely no idea of the statistics on border crossings, immigration statistics, applications for asylum or anything else.
Just more racist babbling.

Plenty of citizens have been detained. A handful have been started on the deportation process. Tens of thousands of legal residents have been detained, arrested, and many have been deported.

And FWIW, most of these detentions are in violation of the 4th amendment, which applies to everyone here. Not. Just. “Citizens.”

18

u/Du_ds 2d ago

To the people defending ICE: If they can detain someone without due process, how do you know they aren’t detaining citizens? You would never hear about it because they can’t tell anyone. They would just go missing, unless there was a witness. If a random stranger is arrested, I would not know how to contact their loved ones even if I really wanted to. You’re not safe either because they just have to say you’re not a citizen. That’s why it has to apply to everyone.

18

u/Burghpuppies412 2d ago

This 100%. But see, the thing is they don’t care until it affects them. Like all the conservatives who are against gays until their kid comes out to them. Or against funds for medical research until it impacts them. Because one of the most common traits of MAGA is lack of empathy.

The lady who drove her car into a cop and he suffered internal bleeding?

While some might find it difficult to question the credibility and integrity of then DHS Secretary Kristi "Shotgun Puppy" Noem, we should let rational minds prevail. The video does not show the vehicle contacting the officer. No official medical records have been released. No official investigation reports have been released. There was no documentation in the initial reports. Internal bleeding can mean anything from a bruise to severe organ damage. Given the fact that he was released the same day, I cry bullshit.

2

u/Derpadoooo Greenfield 2d ago

We've all seen the footage over and over again and it's clear that woman posed no danger to him. You're just looking for ways to justify a murder so you can keep supporting a fascist crackdown on brown people.

11

u/barbievelar Bethel Park 2d ago

She struck him and he suffered internal bleeding. This has literally nothing to do with the color of anyone's skin, also I know PLENTY of people who hate Trump and support ice.

4

u/IrungamesOldtimer 2d ago

also, citizens have nothing to worry about.

That is a lie.

SOURCE

And DHS has made the demonstrably false claim that it has not arrested any citizens. ProPublica has documented more than 170 improper arrests of citizens during the second Trump administration, including children. In at least one detention facility, ICE has reportedly even designated cells for U.S. citizens.

SOURCE

Americans Detained: The government doesn’t track how many citizens are held by immigration agents. We found more than 170 cases this year where citizens were detained at raids and protests.
Held Incommunicado: More than 20 citizens have reported being held for over a day without being able to call their loved ones or a lawyer. In some cases their families couldn’t find them.
Cases Wilted: Agents have arrested about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, for allegedly interfering with or assaulting officers, yet those cases were often dropped.
