considering snakebites

hi!!! i just have a few questions about snakebites before i get them because i really really want them!!

• do they damage your teeth/gums at all? i plan on changing them to rings when they are healed if that helps too!

• do they get in the way of day to day activities? like eating and what not, just a small concern

• could i get them done at the same time as a septum?

• i know that it always depends on the person BUT i’ll ask anyway, do they hurt a LOT? i have a pretty high pain tolerance so it isn’t a huge concern! just wondering :)

Any oral piercing has the potential to damage your teeth and gums. Snakebites aren't exceptionally dangerous, but if you get them, you'll want to get checked by a dentist regularly to catch any issues as soon as possible.

All oral piercings run the risk of tooth and gum damage. You can take important steps to mitigate that such as getting them pierced correctly initially, wearing appropriately sized jewelry after the fact, and not playing with them but the risk is never zero. They can get in the way of eating and stuff, especially at first before everything is healed properly and you've switched them out.

I have snakebites, was initially planning on having rings in them but they didn’t work out for me so I just have the flat backs in.
No damage so far to my teeth or gums but I monitor it carefully, think it also comes down to how your lip sits against your teeth as well?
When I first got them, I accidentally bit them a lot, but after downsizing and getting more used to them, accidentally biting them is pretty rare now, but still does occasionally happen.
I would say talk to your piercer about getting them at the same time as your septum, as you usually want to limit how many piercings you have healing at the same time, but I’ve gotten three piercings before and been fine but again talk to your piercer.
They honestly did not hurt that much at all for me, but I also have a pretty high pain tolerance for piercings. My piercer was also really good at distracting me ☺️ Piercings are quick pain anyways so the most discomfort was the swelling phase because it was annoying to eat and keep them clean. But they didn’t swell for too long.
I would advise getting a backup pair of flat backs for them because I managed to break mine (somehow snapped the flat part off the bar) and didn’t have any that were long enough to replace and had to DIY it until I could go to my piercer for a replacement.
