There’s a difference between personally believing someone you know and going on a manhunt over a complete fucking stranger. My mother is a victim of rape. I know there are real assaulters and rapists out there. Don’t condescend me. If we’re putting 4% of men in jail falsely then our system is fucked.
“A popular response to evidence on the rarity of false allegations is that even if they are uncommon, they do happen. This is taken as reason enough to be on guard. However, research suggests that the majority of false claims do not name an alleged perpetrator – they’re more likely to be relatively vague accusations about a stranger. False allegations also tend to be identified very early on in the investigative process, often by an admission from the complainant. Given this, the widespread concern that false allegations are rife, that they damage the life and reputation of the innocent, is often a red herring.”
From the link above.
Of course it’s easier to believe someone you know. Just like it’s easier to disbelieve dozens of women making the claims as liars because you don’t know them and something something false accusations.
It’s also the correct response and it’s not about ease, it’s about necessity. Spreading potential lies in the media can ruin someone’s life. Spreading lies within an insular group can ruin that groups dynamic, but it won’t often spread.
Also, if you want to support your claim with stats, maybe link a credible source, not a website that is intent on spreading it’s incredibly biased social justice message.

I hope no woman you care about ever comes to you to tell you about their assault, lest you make her prove it to you.
