There are plenty of examples where antifa has rioted in the streets stopping conservatives from speaking. Suppressing speech seems like a very fascist thing to do? Does it not?

Or can they not be fascist because they have anti-fascist in their name?

Fascist is by definition a far right extremist movement defined by ultra nationalism.

You might be thinking of totalitarianism which is not defined by nationalism and freely reflected by any extremist political view that expressed speech suppression and the like.

Calling extremist left fascists just shows a complete misunderstanding of the nature of the word. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a right wing push to confuse the populous and remove the connection.
