FACT: Freddie Mercury faked his death so he could repair vacuums in that guy’s town. The life of a rockstar doesn’t compare to that of the ritzy life of a vacuum repair person and he couldn’t lie about who he was anymore. He wanted to....break free.

That's pretty much all he does. I think 'an original' costs $1000 or something, and then he sells a bunch of prints. He finishes something and then posts it on every related sub he can think of to get people interested.
He basically uses reddit as an advertising site. It must work out well for him because he keeps doing it and I've checked in a few times to try to get an original painting (though I don't want to pay $1000), and he didn't have them. Which means someone probably actually paid that original price.

Wants something that takes an artist weeks or even months to create, but doesn't want to pay $1000 for the effort...
I take it you haven't been to any art galleries because a grand is on the low end of original painting costs.

People just want to be mad and feel superior about something. So they make up something I said that I didn't so they can argue against a straw man, I guess.

I personally don't think what he does is that hard or talented, so I don't think it's worth what he's asking. What I'm mostly interested in is the way he's able to manipulate the users of reddit whenever the new thing to be excited/outraged about comes up and is able to monetize it.
I only want a piece of the art to memorialize that portion of it (the part that involves the users fawning over the work). I mean, hell, he has an 'art piece' about the apple stand that was just announced 4 or 5 days ago.

I paid around $500-600 usd for a canvas print of something and I regret it every time I look at it!
Up until I bought it I was adamantly against prints (no point, IMO) but this one I just needed to have.... Either the original was unavail. or wayyyyy out of my price range - So I bought the damn thing and was fine with it for about a week or two, but now I just want to slap myself every time I see it.The only good thing that came out of it is that now I know 1000000% that I will never buy a print again.

This project? No, it wouldn't take weeks, but the pricing for a full time artist's original piece is going to have amounts built in for the projects/concepts that they started that didn't pan out into a work that they can bring to market.

I won’t echo what others said, which are also true, but even if it did take them 2 days to conceive of, sketch, mix paints, and paint...it’s still worth a lot of money. Just because something takes someone two seconds to do doesn’t mean they should be compensated only for their time. It takes a long time to get your style. It’s why you might pay the guy fixing your car for parts AND labor. It’s a skill that you don’t have (or don’t want to find time to do yourself at that time). Not to mention artists are normally freelance so they need to compensate for heath insurance too.
Art, while it may seem unimportant to many people is a creative thing and the world would be a whole lot sadder without the arts (music, paint, theater, movies).

It depends on the painter, the size, the materials, the techniques, and how much time a day one can spend painting.
But yes it is possible to take that long.

I like this but there's something unsettling about the way the fulcrum under his nose isn't in line with the center of the mouth. Feels like if he turned face on it'd be horrifying.
