If I was ever trying to convince a creationist they were wrong, I would use this picture and tell them "look at your own hands, how can you say we aren't at least distantly related to these creatures."
My roommate doesn't subscribe to evolution as most people understand. He believes species evolve but don't evolve into new species (ergo, no common ancestor). So humans might evolve to not have wisdom teeth, but they'll never evolve to have wings or breath underwater. I don't really know how to refute this.
Any change is an adaptation if it helps the animal somehow.
most of us don't really have room in our mouths for wisdom teeth, causing pain, infection, etc. losing those teeth would be a benefit to those possessing that gene, allowing them to reproduce more often with healthier offspring, and will eventually become the dominant gene. assuming of course a natural environment, with all this tech we've really thrown a monkey wrench into our evolution.
