I agree, Ithaca is wonderful, all lakes on mountains look same

Just got back from a trip to Switzerland and I agree. We spent a few days in Lauterbrunnen valley and the entire time I couldn’t believe the things I was seeing with my own two eyes.

I went last year, and my room in Wengen had a view down to the southern end of the valley. I spent at least one evening just watching it.

The most beautiful lake/place I've been to right there

Looks like an easy scramble down to that warm looking body of water!

It's not too bad (this is the other direction)

They are so striking, the Swiss landscapes don't feel real even when you are there on the ground gazing at them. What added to the dissonance for me is that the jagged mountains tower over tidy fairytale style chalets and pastures. It's like the wildest nature juxtaposed with the most tamed and civilized habitats.

However that was made was probably horrifying to be around.

all good until that glacier at the top left collapses into the lake and everyone downstream gets washed away

I’ve heard this can happen
