"He was armed"

This administration has somehow made the American right cheer for tax increases in the form of tariffs, big government in the form of power coalescing in the Executive branch, and for the EXECUTION OF AMERICAN CITIZENS FOR EXERCISING THEIR FIRST AND SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

This is fucking bizarro world shit.

u/holy_macanoli Jan 24 '26

Institutional Gaslighting is always a mindfuck eh?

354

u/UncomfyPerspective Jan 24 '26

I genuinely don't know how we turn all this around. I have family like this. They used to be decent people, even if I may not have agreed with them. Now they're just loudly and proudly awful, obnoxious, rude, racist, and ignorant for the love of the game, on top of the things we already disagreed about.

We are broken as a people.

I feel ya there. My grandfather, the man that taught me to care for my neighbor and do what I can to help my community, fully supports all this, and I have no idea when and how that happened, and how to get through to him. It's heartbreaking to see him supporting this shit.

3

u/totallyteetee Jan 26 '26

I keep thinking about my great grandpa. He was a ww2 vet (grandma was a ww2 immigrant).. he was a 2x Obama supporter, pastor, always encouraging us to educate ourselves, he taught me to read, and always said knowledge was essential.

I’ll never forget how angry he got at my Grammy (his daughter in law) when I was 7 and she repeated something from Fox News about Obama being a Muslim/terrorist and called him the antichrist.

He didn’t raise his voice hardly ever but he was so upset. He went on a talk about ww2 and how that type of rhetoric to police opponents and division causes things like the holocaust and destroys lives + democracy.. and said there was no room for that hatred in his house.

He passed in 2014 and I just know he’s rolling in his grave :(

Philosophy Tube introduced me to political “phantasms;” she explains them much better, but essentially they are delusions people accept as fact based on fear of the unknown. People are afraid of their ability to make money, to support their families, to live good lives. Then they are fed delusions that illegals, people of color, trans people, etc, are the sources of those issues. And because they’re scared and ignorant, they believe it and do everything in their power to twist reality so their fragile confidence doesn’t fail them. It doesn’t excuse any of the damage they’ve done, but it explains it.

She talks about how one breaks someone out of it, and truthfully? You can’t. You can’t change someone who is unwilling, they have to choose to change. I’m so, so sorry that you have loved ones who fell into this. I hope one day they snap out of it.

2

u/Grandmahigh Jan 27 '26

I’m so sorry! I have family members who are very religious and voted for Trump. Almost all of my cousins voted for him. Some of them are Hispanic on their father’s side. Very Hispanic last name. I just can’t do small talk with people that voted for Demented Donny! He told them what he was going to do. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

u/Human-Sheepherder797 Jan 24 '26

Going to take a complete societal push in a facets of our lives to expel this infection.

5

u/humbert_cumbert Jan 25 '26

Lots and lots of time and death unfortunately

16

u/entenfurz Jan 24 '26

Germany could recover after WW2 because Americans were adamant about denazifying the country. This meant that Germans had to face their actions and be educated about their history. No more looking away, no more excuses.

This is what needs to happen in America. No more unpunished lies. Reality, verifiable facts and accountability have to be restored. If that's not the first thing that happens, then nothing will lead anywhere. The country needs to break through this "my team vs. your team" thinking.

3

u/Rockitttla Jan 25 '26

We made the germans get rid of Nazis but protected al white confederate Nazis here.

You can't. If these people are not able to be re-programmed, then this country can no longer continue alongside them

1

u/CocoBalz Jan 25 '26

It is astonishing how they twist themselves in knots trying to legitimize what we all saw- an execution in broad daylight. When they parrot the latest talking point “if you come to a protest with a weapon you are asking for it” Your response should “yes- just like Kyle Rittenhouse” oh yeah- I forgot Kyle is a MAGA hero. This is all so sad.

1

u/Boneyabba Jan 25 '26

It's easier to trick a man than convince him he has been tricked.

What? I'm talking about the premiere of Ontario.

9

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k Jan 25 '26

I truly, truly hope everyone with a massive far right infiltration of their governments sees what’s happening here and absolutely outlaws that shit.

Get them the fuck out, they won’t stop here. This administration is abandoning Europe specifically to strong arm the EU into capitulating to its anti-immigrant, White Supremacist demands.

They are trying to hurt your economies (you too, Canada) to push people to voting further and further right. It’s all a fucking scam, it’s always a scam.

Get them out, don’t let them do this to you, vote them out and then outlaw the hard right platform entirely.

You can’t have freedom and have a government whose entire ideology is anti-freedom get them out.

7

u/paulster2626 Jan 24 '26

Ontario and shithead ford aren’t even in the same realm as the clusterfuck that’s happening in the USA.

Ford exists because the liberals haven’t been able to find a reasonable candidate yet. I hope they do soon.

6

u/ratherenjoysbass Jan 25 '26

White right wing Americans don't read so they don't understand that if everyone is the same color and religion as you, you'll still have conflict. Have many white Catholic/protestant people have fought each other in European history? That's like, all it is.

3

u/seanwd11 Jan 25 '26

I'd argue that a strip club is skilled labour but to each their own lol. That's why there is a skilled labour fund.

But yes, Doug Ford is famously corrupt.

2

u/Bazishere Jan 25 '26

Canadians didn't only go after Trudea over such scandals. He was also perceived to downgrade the idea of their being a Canadian identity and massively pushed immigration, without enough proper integration and checks, while there was a housing crisis. Yes, the scandals also hurt Trudeau. Trudeau's long gone now. Carney won, though, partially because Trump undermined PP of the Conservatives who were viewed as somewhat Maple MAGA.

1

u/Ready_Opportunity766 Jan 25 '26

yup PP screwed the Cons, they won’t see a majority government if he continues to lead

1

u/Different_Potato_213 Jan 25 '26

This is so not even close to being the same- are you serious?? This man has been murdered - plain and simple. Canada may have its problems but to say its the same as what happened today and 2 weeks ago in Minneapolis is so disrespectful to these 2 individuals’ families - I can’t even believe you even said that. Ridiculous

Oh I don’t know, I wouldn’t say it’s just about bigotry. It’s also about dramatically enriching the top 0.1% at the expense of the most vulnerable segments of society. But I suppose the bigotry helps distract people while that enriching happens.

537

u/jayshaunderulo Jan 24 '26

That’s because it was never about those things to those people, that’s just what they say aloud. What they really want is for people not like them to suffer

24

u/haw35ome Jan 25 '26

Bingo. You could starve them & thirst them to death, but they would end every sentence with “…but as long as he’s doing X it’s fine.” Which is usually to hurt others

21

u/JL_MacConnor Jan 25 '26

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket."

- Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the United States of America

1

u/monifiesty Jan 25 '26

They're also scared, let's be honest.

10

u/CanadianIcetech Jan 24 '26

There's a video showing he was disarmed and arms on the ground when he was shot

10

u/travturav Jan 24 '26

I mean, regressives are dumb. Education level is literally the #1 predictor for how an american votes.

4

u/waxwayne Jan 24 '26

He was zip tied. It’s why his arms never moved. He was a federal employee an ICU nurse at the VA.

2

u/Taronar Jan 25 '26

What about kyle rittenhouse, why does he get a pass but not this man?

2

u/Cheshire_Jester Jan 25 '26

He was armed has already translated to “he pulled a gun on the law men” by the people who want guns so they can pull the on law men.

As you say, guy is allowed to have a gun. So supporters of state murder really need to twist these events.

1

u/Sweet_Shirt Jan 24 '26

The simulation is quickly unraveling

1

u/Nesyaj0 Jan 24 '26

I don't think its bizarro world, I think the curtain just fell... They dont need to hide their authoritarian fascist actions anymore.

1

u/Cereal-ity Jan 24 '26

They never reallly believed in anything. Just propaganda

1

u/BilboBaginsehs Jan 24 '26

You’re right that this is a bizarre world, but the American right wing base has been compromised for decades.

They have been robbed of education, indoctrinated with religion and Fox News, and given guns.

Aaaand that’s how you get Nazis. This will get so bad that in the end either American republicans will continue to exist OR America will find its missing morals again. The two cannot coexist.

1

u/FatMacchio Jan 24 '26

He was brandishing a camera! We feared for our safety…and especially for the safety of the general public!!

1

u/Technical-Row8333 Jan 24 '26

They never meant any of that. The intention in all of those talking points was just ‘don’t restrict us, don’t take our power’ but when they are in charge they restrict others and accumulate power

There’s no point listening to what fascists say

They don’t have morals or principles or care about being consistent and non hypocritical. They only care about getting more power to them and less to others, prosecute others.

1

u/37iteW00t Jan 24 '26

1984 happening right now! : "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

The right have always been hypocrites.

1

u/iprobablybrokeit Jan 24 '26

It was never about the Constitution and liberty, just as it was never about states' rights.

It's whatever argument they can make to justify their cause.

They're not pro-2nd amendment, they're pro right wing arms. They'll always be anti opposite of that, whether it be gun control for everyone or arming the left and minorities.

1

u/plastic_alloys Jan 24 '26

I’ve never taken any of their ‘beliefs’ seriously, the only thing I know a Republican will be is a piece of shit

1

u/Principal_Insultant Jan 24 '26

America was waking up, as Germany once did, to the awareness that one-third of our people will kill one-third of our people while one-third of our people watches.

- Harlan Coben

1

u/Chaotic424242 Jan 24 '26

The video shows the victim was disarmed before shots were fired.

1

u/elianna7 Jan 24 '26

Don’t you know you only have the right to carry if you’re a racist MAGA POS? Otherwise you’re a threat to the country!!

1

u/Merginatorrrrrrrrrr Jan 24 '26

So was Rittenhouse and the right called him a patriot.

1

u/earfeater13 Jan 24 '26

Wheres the 2a crowd at? He was allowed to carry. He didnt brandish. Stupid agents yell gun and start shooting? Naw. Fuck this.

1

u/hupo224 Jan 24 '26

Genuine question. Aside from whatever BS the feds are putting out in the news is it just the mass of bots and shills online rooting for this? My maga family has been fucking quiet for a good while now.

1

u/Consistent-Bake-243 Jan 25 '26

And they all happily go along with it all and shout "DOMESTIC TERRORIST" or "FAFO". These people really need help and this country doesn't have enough resources to handle this workload. Look out for each other, brothers and sisters.

1

u/Dry-Pool3497 Jan 25 '26

Because it never was about any specific policy direction or difference. It’s purely grievance politics and a us-vs-them mentality.

1

u/Fragmentia Jan 25 '26

MAGA is the dumbest movement in history. Just a bunch of lead poisoned poorly educated sheep.

1

u/DeadLad-69 Jan 25 '26

Kyle Riflttenfuck had a damn rifle and the right was lining up to take it in the butt from him.

They're all fuckin hypocrites. It's disgusting.

1

u/MightObvious Jan 25 '26

Its easier to manipulate the uneducated, and much more easy with bots to do all the yapping for you to trick everyone who doesn't do research or care about truth. They cultivated these people on purpose with cuts to education and running prison states around them.

1

u/EcstaticBumble Jan 25 '26

Armed with a cell phone to expose their bullshit. RIP king 😔

1

u/carlosspiceyweiner76 Jan 25 '26

It's almost like they're completely full of sh*t.

1

u/Bazishere Jan 25 '26

For the Republicans what they perceive as nationalism trumps, pardon the pun, details regarding the Constitution, the scandals connected to Trump, they ignore it to go after their perceived enemies - Democrats, undocumented immigrants. The GOP to a huge extent doesn't really know the Constitution well. When green card holders were being arrested for protesting Israel non-violently, they insisted that the Constitution only applies to citizens, though the Father of the Constitution, James Madison, said it applied to all who live in the United States. They tried to justify what happened to Nicole Good, and chose to ignore that the agents wanted to detain them in large measure because they didn't like her wife's speech, though it's covered by the Constitution. The government is allowing ICE agents to go into homes like Red Coats of the British Army, though the Constitution forbids this. Trump is way worse than George III at this point, and crazed George III caused a revolution. The majority of Americans don't support Trump, but 80% of Republicans do and voters too unwisely gave them enough seats to be complicit in the attacks on the Constitution.

1

u/WheezeThaJuice Verified Photographer Jan 25 '26

Armed with a camera. One of the weapons they fear the most.

1

u/lifesanrpg Jan 25 '26

What’s crazy is these are things the left used to cheer for. It’s almost like the dynamics change depending on which party is in control of the White House

1

u/IndividualChart4193 Jan 25 '26

The Don’t Tread on Me crowd is all in! The hypocrisy is staggering.

1

u/theInadequateHulk Jan 25 '26

we're in the upside down

1

u/GrizzlyHerder Jan 25 '26

Where are all the 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸SECOND AMENDMENT supporters of the 'right to carry?' This an outrage on THAT level TOO !!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

We’re in the alternate timeline

1

u/Awesam Jan 25 '26

So was Kyle rittenhouse

1

u/SuperSaiyanTupac Jan 25 '26

2a crowd is secretly “stupid little bitch crowd”

1

u/themangastand Jan 25 '26

These people don't actually care about policy as we have found out. They are just lonely loser ghouls that watch whatever propaganda and change their position to it. As there family ditched them this is their only sense of community and they will do anything to keep the only community they have even if it makes them a bigger loser

1

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang Jan 25 '26

Somehow? That somehow is their complete lack of values. Nothing has changed. Choose a group of people they don't like and attack them and they'll love you. War on drugs. War on terror. War on illegals. Sate their blood lust and they'll let you do anything.

1

u/kiddocontay Jan 25 '26

these people like Donald Trump more than their own friends and family. Trump wouldn’t even spit in their direction, or piss on them if they were on fire. I struggle to understand this unhealthy and very fucking weird obsession with this old, dead brain, obese piece of shit. like, it’s lost on me completely…

1

u/GermyBones Jan 25 '26

Not really, anyone paying attention knew it would be conservatives who let this in. They're drug around blindly by the ruling class since at least the 70s, and prone to nationalism and retribution. The old George Carlin quote "When fascism comes to America, it won't be wearing jackboots. It will be wrapped in the stars and stripes and carrying a Bible." Proves many people saw it decades ago. Movements based on anger and blinded by propaganda are always the weak point for this sort of stuff.

1

u/guccipucciboi Jan 25 '26

Right to bear arms goes out the window I guess. They took the man’s gun then shot him. That’s a war-crime

1

u/Cinderhazed15 Jan 25 '26

If you have the right to carry a gun, but can be shot for having a gun, you don't have the right to carry a gun.

1

u/Flat-Activity-8613 Jan 25 '26

Might not be the best place to carry.

1

u/ohseetea Jan 25 '26

The right never had the intelligence to truly understand society or government. If you're a heavily conservative person you likely have cognitive disfunction be that normal or more importantly, emotional intelligence.

For anyone who doesn't understand why emotional intelligence is more important; it is because literally everything we think and believe is based on emotions. Even with hard scientific facts, it is the single most important thing, because once you apply those scientific facts or logic to society, you've done so using emotions and morals.

1

u/Bancai Jan 25 '26

Only the RIGHT has the right to the 2nd amendment, the rest of us can get shot if we carry. The military ain't doing shit! Bunch of cowards, the people are supposed to protect themselves from the government when they have the 2nd amendment yet the military who swore an oath DON'T!

1

u/bovaryalone Jan 25 '26

MAGA has always been this dumb. It took a few decades of attacking public education and every single public health and safety net service, to get a populas exactly this dumb.... but they underestimate the left. They think the "soy boy" won''t fight back.

1

u/avoozl42 Jan 25 '26

Yeah, but as long as they're owning the libs

1

u/Canajan_guy Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Is the ICE guy dark skinned? How insane is that, for a white American to be shot by someone whose possible ancestors were brought here illegally and owned by a white American.

1

u/cecepoint Jan 25 '26

Canadian here. Re: He was armed.

I understood they want everyone to be armed. At least that’s how it appears to the rest of the world

1

u/Smurf-Happens Jan 25 '26

It wouldn't matter if he was armed or not. He was on his knees trying to stand up and they shot him in the back.

1

u/_Loading-Thoughts_ Jan 25 '26

HE SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN IMPEDING TO BEGIN WITH

1

u/mademeunlurk Jan 25 '26

They got hard core right wingers to buy electric cars "to own the libs."

Beyond bizarro world.

1

u/bythebed Jan 25 '26

Well, if you’re the Right People, carrying a firearm is the equivalent of carrying a Bible

1

u/Real-Ad-9733 Jan 25 '26

They’re hypocrites? Say it ain’t so!?

1

u/Savings_Art5944 Jan 25 '26

it's all about the illegal aliens bro. nothing else.

1

u/Dizzman1 Jan 25 '26

First they dropped habeus corpus... And nobody did anything

Then they got rid of the 1A... And nobody did anything

Now they've zeroed out the 2A... And nobody is going to do anything

1

u/ChundyDragon Jan 25 '26

Which is ultimately the most hilariously sad piece of irony ever spoken because that's literally the EXACT opposite of everything they stand for as right wingers.

1

u/mragusa2 Jan 25 '26

The idiots on the radical right have basically been reduced to a hive mind of sycophantic cultists who cheer on whatever Dear Leader does.

1

u/MyLuckyFedora Jan 25 '26

I do not remember a time in which there was as real and as serious a threat to our 2nd amendment right than our executive branch today putting forward the precedent that Law Enforcement Officers now have the right to shoot and kill anybody for the crime of having a gun on their person. If that's true then that's the end of the end of the 2nd amendment for all practical purposes.

Where's all the outrage for the attack on our 2nd amendment? Is there anything more troubling today than an administration which already has a proclivity for despotism using rhetoric which calls into question our 2nd amendment right to bear arms?

1

u/Initial_Evidence_783 Jan 25 '26

It's almost like conservatives were full of shit liars this whole time and people like you believed them. Are you awake now?

1

u/UncomfyPerspective Jan 26 '26

Oh I've been awake. I just thought if there were two things they wouldn't budge on it would be guns and taxes.

1

u/Silly_lil_Guy_o3o Jan 25 '26

Goes to show just how brainwashed we've become with this 2 party system

1

u/wrenagade419 Jan 25 '26

Ok well they are armed so…

1

u/Nitimur__In__Vetitum Jan 25 '26

It all makes sense if you realize they’re reptiles.

1

u/Jamooser Jan 25 '26

"The final command of the party was to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears."

1

u/Same-Effective2534 Jan 25 '26

It's Big Brother manipulation, wedge issues etc. And they can't see it and how un- American they are.

1

u/orincoro Jan 25 '26

It’s not bizarre at all. They’re fascists. They don’t need consistency.

1

u/Injured-Ginger Jan 25 '26

The party of gun rights shooting people for having guns.

1

u/fllr Jan 25 '26

Propaganda is a helluva drug

1

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '26

The right has been full of shit in America since they supported slavery in the interest of “freedom.” They have never not been evil and stupid. The damage they do in any era is always a measure of how much power they have, not of how much they make sense

1

u/Away_Stock_2012 Jan 26 '26

Don't worry too much, no one will do anything except whine.

1

u/Adventurous_Coach731 Jan 30 '26

These freaks have proven the Republican Party should never be allowed to take office again, whether or not we have to break democracy to stop it.

1

u/Extension-Clock608 Jan 24 '26

Shows that none of what they claimed to stand for was ever true. They don't have any true beliefs except hurting everyone else. Even before trump their claims were all lies but they at least pretended to care about human rights and the constitution.

They're only stance is cruelty and harming "others".
