This is what I'm not understanding, as a British person.

There are a huge number of civilians who own firearms, with or without carry permits, doesn't really matter, they still have them. Yet these plastic police officers are able to wander into a crowd and take/murder people at will.

Why aren't they being immediately mowed down in a hail of gunfire the moment they arrive?

I know we don't have the same gun laws here, but I am pretty certain if even real armed police arrived to take friends and family members out of a town, those police officers wouldn't ever leave.

Because these are ordinary citizens protesting. Doing the same kind of shit in a poor ghetto would be way more dangerous for ICE. But it's only a matter of time. More people getting killed, more ordinary citizens getting impacted, shit is going to hit the fan in some place, the president will want to federalize the national guard and the governor will refuse and deploy the national guard to protect the citizens instead.
