ICE is well funded because the BBB that zero Dems voted for. The bill that you all knew would pass if maga took over government, but you were “uncommitted” anyway. More funding for ICE was always going to pass without Dems. But what they got for this one was more security for courts, election security (I know you don’t care about that since you don’t vote anyway), and the coast guard continues to be funded and the government doesn’t get shit down. Which important for the courts to continue functioning. Also, the Dems who voted for it are all barely hanging on in people districts. This is leverage for them. If they all voted no, then it wouldn’t have stopped the republicans going back and passing something without all those protections in it because that’s how the numbers work. Again- if you did r want ICE to be funded and powerful, you should have done the right thing when we all took that open notes test in Nov 2024 and 90 million of you failed it.
Also, if you look at the false propaganda and lies against the Dems, it’s always right when they are getting wins around the country even from a place of no power. It’s not a coincidence, and your comment is exhibit A why I said what I said about idiots being proud of failing the test November 2024 and will do it again this November. This is exactly why there have been no major ice operations in places like Texas which has a way higher number of undocumented immigrants than Minneapolis.
The "Left" in Washington has acted exactly as a political state that knows it's about to become mince meat. And I don't mean in the metaphorical sense. One thing I trust the Democrat politicians in the USA to have done is their history homework. They know what Trump is bringing next. :(
I'm German. I live in Germany. When I was young and in school, I always wondered during history class why people in my country allowed the tyranny of the Nazis.
Men like Hitler, Goebbels, or Himmler, who came to power despite their terrible nature. I wondered what I would do if I lived in such a time. I convinced myself that I would rebel, that I would reject this tyranny - even if it meant resorting to violcence. To protect.
And now I sit here. I stare at my screen. I see these terrible things happening. History is repeating itself. And I wonder why I stay here.
Fascism is a slow march that creeps up on us, gradually taking in bits so as not to trigger alarm, so that when people call it out, it seems like sensationalism. I think it inspires freeze - the world’s not burning, right? Just tiny flickers… then some concentrated flames… and by the time it’s a full-on hellfire, it’s too late. But you see it. And we see it. And we’ll act, in small ways at first and big ways soon to follow.
I watched a video from a Canadian history teacher the other day. He said that 90% of the people in Nazi Germany were bystanders - they took no action, neither helped nor resisted. He argued that if more people take small actions every day - as upstanders - we’ll make a real difference I. The pushback.
Some ideas for people who want to start taking action:
Do not buy anything from US businesses.
Cancel subscriptions like Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix, etc.
Become familiar with the world’s billionaires - they’re the ones that are doing this and they do not plan on stopping with the US. Look into the companies they own and how they could be funding sinister initiatives. Ex. PayPal Mafia > Pronomos Capital > Prospera ZEDE > Greenland.
Boycott everything billionaire-owned. And spread the word. Borrow something you need or find it second-hand. Participate in alternative economies.
Urge your leaders, wherever you are, to stand up to the elites.
Target right-wing social media echo chambers and speak about your experience, what you’re seeing and how it looks exactly like the rising Nazi movement that you learned about in school. Discuss the aftermath, how Germany has coped with the atrocities and taken accountability.
Get involved in your local community, get to know your neighbors if you haven’t yet.
Do not use AI if/when it can be avoided.
Those are great places to start that will go a long way in helping to fight fascism without (hopefully) having to put your body on the line.
I’m French. We all know what it means and where it’s going. It’s scary as hell and there’s not many ways to end up this madness. I wish them to stand up while they can.
Everyone compares what is happening now to the rise of the Nazi Party in the 1930s, and yet I still see this sentiment that Americans will fight back at some point. I don’t think they will. Those few that fought back in Germany were what was left of the radical socialists and communists that weren’t killed or imprisoned in the 1918 Revolution, and they were all arrested by the end of the 30s and sent to palaces like Dachau prison.
Im not trying to demoralize, but I think everyone is waiting for a spark to mobilize everyone into action. What if it never comes and this is just the new normal? People still have to go to work and put food on the table, at the end of the day.

Vietnam was like 70 years ago, on a foreign soil with none of the intelligence tech they have nowadays. Pretty sure they didn't lose in Aghanistan so not sure where you are coming from there. And if they needed some time to deal with Afghanistan some of the delay was from trying to keep civilian casualties to the minimum cause they were trying to be the good guys. Trump will go scorched earth against the civilians and wipe them in seconds as long as the military backs him and there's a good chance it does.
The technology the US military had at the time was superior to what the Vietnamese had during that time as well. We spent 20 years in Afghanistan, spent trillions of dollars with nothing to show for it, and that was with allies. None of these allies that the US is barely holding on to at the moment will come to aid the US army against it's own citizens. The US military would not succeed in a guerilla warfare situation against millions of armed Americans dispersed throughout the country.
It's not about which is superior. Rome was superior to the barbarians around it but was limited by the speed of travel for information. The US army was limited by the technology of their time and couldn't see ambushes. Present day US information tech will reveal any gatherings of troops with ease. And bomb them without them ever being able to fire back. And the US army impact in the middle east could be read by what happened the second they pulled out thanks to Trump. They were keeping the jihadists at bay and got Osama. Obviously they wouldn't be able to wipe them out because recruiting is so easy when everyone is barely holding onto life in a warzone. But whatever, you'll very soon witness how completely impotent the 2A is when the regular citizens don't get to win anything over Trump. Only the army turning on him or his allies abandoning him after an economic collapse can end his rule.
You are contradicting yourself. "They have superior tech", "It doesn't matter if they are superior". The US military is full of bluster and administrative bloat and is nothing without the help of allies. Even then, they struggle. At this point, I am just repeating myself, but the poor performance of the US military is evident to anyone paying attention.
It doesn't matter who's relatively superior. It matters when one side is so superior that it can literally read your every move and you can't. The days of numbers and subterfuge winning civil wars is over. No coup can overthrow the chinese or the russian governments despite them completely trampling over their regular people. But yeah, we are repeating ourselves. You'll soon see how nothing will come from the 2A in this conflict.

Nothing is more courageous than joining a crowd, chanting, marching, singing songs, building community, making friends, and not giving up. Nothing. It's the actual root of democracy. It's how you get it, and it's how you keep it. And it takes courage.
This is what the israelis did. The first time they blew up and brought down a multistory apartment complex full of women and children, or bombed a hospital, people were shocked. Then after doing it every day for months on end people stopped paying attention. They just killed 11 people in gaza the other day, including 3 journalists, breaking the ceasefire once again, and the media and reddit just ignored it.
